Adoption

Just a few minutes ago on "Good Morning America" about the cost of adoption. The lowest cost of an average adoption is about $45,000! I am lucky if I have 45 cents on a daily basis. They were showing one place that gives grants for adoption and there are a few more agencies out there which help financially. That is great. But,the people I saw on there were going to other countries to adopt children.Angelina Jolie as well as many other stars adopt children from other countries. I am a christian and I do not believe in abortion as a method of birth control unless it because of a medical emergency, incest or rape. There are people that can handle carrying, giving birth and even sometimes raising a child from rape.If they are strong enough for it then more power to them. But,there are some people that are not that strong and even just to carry and give birth to a child from rape might mess them up mentally forever. There was one person on here that said to me that if there is abortion here that cuts back on adoption.Well look at the cost of adoption, who can afford it,especially the way the economy is now.Plus, most people are going to other countries and adopting kids.Yes,there are many kids there that are starving and living in other poor ways of living and need to and deserve to be adopted. But,there are many kids here that have no medical, not a very good nutritional menu and some are living or had a past of being abused physically or mentally. I have some friends from our church that tried to adopt in the USA three times and each time they were denied because the birth mother, who is giving up their child and signing over her rights said no because the father was military. He had been stationed in the same place for over 10 years and was up to retire in a few more years. But,the birth mother did not want to have someone adopt the baby and possibly move around.Thank God,finally they got pregnant twice and have 2 beautiful boys. Do you think that they should not be so hard on people when it comes to adoption, but make sure that they are not going to harm the child.? Do you think it should not be so costly to adopt? Do you think there should be a cap but on international adoptions,so that children from here get adopted too? I don't mean completely, just balance it.What do you think?

back in the day it was only 5,000 dollars to adopt and now you tell me it 45,000 dollars this is a business of selling kids iam sorry.adoption is a hard process you have to go through so much to adopt.adoption is a good thing because these kids need good parents to care for them most situation they don,t ask to be in.they don,t choose the family they have.

I am surely not saying that adoption is a bad thing that it has gotten way too expensive.I heard as I said on "Good Morning America" that adoption was about $45,000.My friends said with the agency that they were trying to adopt a baby from was about 5 years ago and was $30,000 for a baby adoption.

someone is really taking advantage of this situation, aren't they. as many little children as there is that need a home they ought to be asahamed of taking advantage of good people who want a child so bad. it is a disgrace for all involved.

Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I think it is very costly to adopt these days. I do think their should be a cap on it also. I think there needs to be a balance also. People are not made of money.

There are so many couples who want badly to care for a child of there own and are unable. Then to hear of people who don't want their baby at all, breaks my heart--though I do understand some cases. It should not be so costly for a loving couple to love a child that would be left out in the cold other wise. At what point did things come to be about the money and not the health and care of the little ones. The schools are becoming the same way. Everyone is all about the dollar signs and they have forgotten about tending to the future--the kids.

This is an interesting subject. I don't think it should cost that much money to adopt. They say people go overseas to adopt because it is cheaper and easier. It is so hard to make sure people are decent enough to adopt. You really don't know if that man and wife fight like cats and dogs. Such is life. However, there are so many children that need to be adopted that we should to make it easier. I think if it would be cheaper and easier more people would adopt in the USA. We do need balance. We should spend more time prospering our country, and American adoption would be one issue that would help.

Exactly, like I said there are plenty of children here that need to be adopted. But,there should be a cap put on it because there are many well off people adopting in other countries.Like Angelina Jolie for instance. Like I also said that I do not believe in abortion as a method of birth control, but it may be needed for a medical reason (I know that personally). There are people saying that adoption will be abolished in this country if woman have abortions. How? There are already so many babies and kids in this country that are not being adopted because the cost to adopt is so high.Especially now the way the economy is.
