I watched him from the beginning and was really hopeful. When I watched the Inauguration, i cried. We have done the impossible, and overcome trials and tribulations of the past. I never thought we would have an African-American president and I have seen it with my own eyes. I am very proud to call him my president. I pray that he pulls through and guides us to where we should be, and make us proud to say that we live in a wonderful country. This is where dreams come true. This was proven in November 2008!

Hi peedie'..I too watched the inauguration, it was wonderful and very touching, your President is young, he remembers your fathers and all they went through to make America a wonderful country, also he is reaching out to all creeds, and religions that you should all be as one...yes I know Politicians make promises and break them, but Barack Obama seems set to make these changes happen, it is a waiting game but Congratulations, I truly beleive you have someone now who will make a difference for your country, littleowl

The media keeps calling Obama the First Black President. I kept hearing that this was a false statement, so I did some checking myself. Go check it out...blew my mind! http://racism-politics.suite101.com/article.cfm/significance_of_sen_obamas_run There are a lot more sites and articles I found that state similar claims. Now this has nothing to do with what kind of President he will be, I know that. I'm just the type of person that loves to research almost anything. Especially hot topics in the news. That's when I stumbled on this information.

Hi Tamara, for some reason I do believe Obama is going to make a difference in America, he obviously is under a lot of pressure, and yes what he does there will affect us and the world, it is a big demand for one person alone but I do beleive he will make a big difference for the good for as long as he can and with help from the senate and others....hugs littleowl

THANK YOU to BOTH of my dear friends!!! I have NO use for politicians but for the first time in my life, I feel we have a true leader. YES, he will be under tremendous pressure...part of his own making because he has promised so much. I see a man who loves his wife & children MORE than he loves himself!!! I also see a man who believes that he knows what to do. He has a plan & I do believe he will follow through. Even more, he's made a believer out of my 85 year old Dad who is a racist from the get go. It takes one hell of a man to win my Dad over. My Dad said he thinks Barack is the best President since Ike. From my Dad, that's one hell of a compliment as my Dad worshiped Ike. I don't think he can do it ALL on his OWN. It will take the support of most of the country & I dare say MOST of the world to do the things he will need to do to correct years & years of screw ups. I believe that he will give us our lives back. I hang my head in shame at some of the things people here have said & done simply because he is black or a Democrat. They have shown that they care nothing for our country & have no intention of helping us get back on track. I applaud John McCain for being man enough to stand by his President & offering his support. Too bad many who supported McCain don't see this patriotic loyalty & learn from it!!! I realize President Obama is NOT perfect, but feel he will lead with his whole heart & his heart loves his country as he loves his wife & family....BEFORE HIMSELF!!!

Every one is putting a lot of weight on President Obama's back. He is only the president and has to get the congress and senate to help him out. I'm afraid that people I mean the world is expecting way too much from Him. As I was watching the news last night the reporters were in different countries and it sounded like he is expected to make the world Full of peace. It sounded like he is to remove all the problems that the world faces not just in our country.

His speech was very touching I think for the USA and for the world, a lot is expected from him, but hopefully he will be able to make a few of the changes he has promised..I beleive with his determination he will try his best...hugs littleowl

Thank you very much littleowl for the good wishes and congratulations. We are hopeful that he will be brilliant as well. The man has a lot of work to do and I don't envy him of the scrutiny he'll be under from not only our country but the rest of the world. With luck and a lot of cooperation he should do just fine.

The first phone call he made as President was to the Pakistan Goverment, let's hope thst somehow there will be a treaty for Peace there in time. As you say Obama has a lot of work to do and for you country's sake I hope he will be able to accomplish some of them, the one thing I really like about him is he remembers his roots, what it was like for your forefathers to make the USA a great country, just those two things give me even faith that he will be able to turn things round for the USA...hugs littleowl

I am not one for politics either - but I'm afraid I have to disagree with everyone who thinks he will be a brilliant president! I really think this country is in for trouble. He will not cure our country of our ills overnight just because he is an African-American! He is not our savior like many think. Forget his color! That is what many are basing their feelings on. You cannot judge how a man will do his job by the color of his skin! Don't take me wrong - I am not prejudice. Lets just wait and see how brilliant he is a year from now! I hope for everyone's sake that he will do good and then I will eat my words. Until then!

I agree 100%. Watching polls which reported 95% of African-Americans voting for Obama scares me. Seems like racism to me. Anyway, I hope he does well. I love the capitalist, democratic America that the founding fathers envisioned. I'm afraid Obama is the first of several steps toward Socialism. The scariest part is I believe the American people are ignorant enough to let the government take that role. Here's to us eating our words (hopefully)!

Hi bmorehouse and belhaven....I don't see Obama as a Saviour of the world or economy, neither the fact he is black I am definitly not predujice...but I do feel he will attempt to do some good with America which in sut will affect us all..but I cannot see that the moves he has made at the moment are bad either but for the best. Yes I agree with you fully that it is a waiting game, but just wanted to also congratulate the Americans we have on here as well for their new President...littleowl

Hi Littleowl I hope that Obama will be able to deliver what he has promised From my personal experience about politics I have learned that you will find a lot of sweet talkers who will promise heaven on earth. than when it comes to reality, it is a completley different stories. They will bring a lot of excuses for not being able to deliver what they have promised. I hope that this will be different in Obama's case. He seems to be providential and that America needed a real change (c) ronaldinu 2009

Thanks Littleowl! I for one am very grateful,he seemed to come from nowhere.I follow politics alot and like a flower he seemed to bloom and give this country, and the world Hope.We really need the change. He has surrounded himself with alot of talented people and the way he thinks is a great change from the past. I hope the other party doesn't try to block him in the Senate where they still hold the power to do that! I just wish the bitterness would end. They always seem to forget they work for us the citizens of this great country!!!! God bless the USA and the world!!! tdemex

Hope is the thing that fruit from the flower grow, may it be that he will bring some good changes...and the fact that his first phone call was to Pakistan is a positive move too...littleowl

Hi Opal, Obama to me seems like the best thing that has happened to America for a long time..yes he has a very tough road ahead of him if he is going to make some changes to things the way they are at the moment,in his speech at the inaurguation he included he wants to help people of every kind and to bring unity once again to America, that will be a tough job in itself as other things he does will affect the world too. Saying that though the first steps he has made in Office are positive steps and may they continue to be...so Congratulations may the USA be the land of the free once again!!...littleowl

Well, he is worth this top position, I think. To be honest, I was having fast food with my friend yesterday in McDonald's. And a foreign guy was sitting beside us. My friend and I started to talk about Obama. Then that guy really kept focus on us. He seemed really absorbed in our conversation and almost leaned himself over to us...Then we began to talk together. He was just very interested in Obama. Them through the talk, I knew that he is from America. No wonder he was so interested in our talk...LOL...American people are all likely about to believe in Obama. He has made a miracle. All humans believe him. Hopefully, he will do his best to make your country a lot better. Congratulations!

Hi acegirl, I agree with you Americans are really now going to watch Obama's every move I should think and especially those who are of foreign origin. In myself I do have a positive feeling about him, not that he is going to change things overnight but that he will do good for the country and hopefully have a good knock on effect to the rest of the world, though a lot is expected of him he is not a Saviour...littleowl

Hi fwidman, yes he has a really tough job ahead of him and the worst thing is sometimes to right the wrongs it may get worse for a while, whichever way I beleive that Obama will bring some good in that area, the first moves he has made in Office at the moment seem to be good, long may it continue..economically he does have a very hard job to do...hugs littleowl
