$5...are you serious?

Ok, so I've been typing my fingers off on mylot for the past few days and I've accumulated a balance of $.44. With some quick math I figured on average if I type on this site as much as I have been I'll make about $5/month. That barely buys me a pack of smokes. lol. It's fun and all, but do you do this because you like it or is it seriously for the few pennies a day. I'm thinking my time may be better spent picking up aluminum cans on the side of the road. ha ha.

I think your right, LOL. Hey, lets have a get-together on the side of the bridge. Most people do post comments on My-lot because of the few cents they earn everyday, not for the sake of sharing info. But I think My-Lot is also doing the best it can, as it can't supply a dollar to everyone who posts a comment!

Hello jziakhan, you're right too. There are some members who make comments just for the money but some of the comments have a good quality, so it's ok. I just don't like the members who only look for myLot-referrals and login once a month so that their earnings from the referrals don't get deleted but don't participate at all in myLot anymore. I like when the person who starts the discussion makes her comment on each response because you earn additional cents and could get a higher rating (star at 100 points) with it, which makes it easier to earn faster (higher star, more earnings per post). Have a great time in myLot!

Exactly!! People only come and post responses on My-Lot because they want to make money, it's sad though, but people would post more if the pay was higher! :D

Yes, some people only come here for the money, which is sad. I have to admit that I originally joined mostly because of the money, but I'm still here because I love it here! I wanted to comment on what you said about stars being related to rate of earnings. This seems to be a common misconception. Many myLotters who have been on here for a long, long time (and who have experienced lots of different stars) have said that your star rating doesn't make any difference`at all to how much you earn. And from my own experience I would agree with this.

Hello MissAmie, as you might know, most of the members here are no more active when they want to earn the big money in myLot. The other members who are active here, just enjoy the time and fun and friendliness part of myLot. The money is just a bonus on top, you can buy some little things with it after one or two months, so just keep on posting, try to aim each day to 30-40 responses/discussions and your payout for each month should be available in your paypal-Account the following 15th. If you like to see how i earn my money in myLot, follow my Guide for myLot on my Blog (in my profile). Have a great time in myLot!

totally agree with you corny. I try to aim for about 20 discussions a day and I do them while I do other things online or on the computer like when I write my book. I enjoy the time and discussions I have with other people. I admit I have learned alot from many of the discussions I have found on here.

Hey cornyman Actually You are right some members are here only to earn few cents but few mylottians are there who actually stay here to enjoy and to make friends and also to exchange cultural heritage. I am one of them. I stay here to read my friends discussion and also to give answer and express my views. For me earning few cents is secondary thing. pkc3000

Hello both of you, mostly i'm here because it's fun for me to read discussion, making friends all over the world, make my own discussions and responding to them/the members and you really can give people here a helping hand, especially the new members. I would say, just have fun in myLot, the earnings add up automatically when you stay active and give the community quality posts/discussions back. Everything will grow then, your knowledge, the happiness at the end of your day about some cents more and your helpfulness of your friends/towards your friends. Enjoy the time in myLot!

They consider quality as well as quantity, I do believe. In other words, you can not just come on Mylot and type a bunch of mess and expect to break the bank. A lot of people do a lot of fluff stuff and while cute, I don't know that it earns them a lot. I have heard of people making more than three times the amount you mentioned, in one days time.

You could not expect to break the bank here by typing a bunch of profound and elegantly stated prose either. In fact it would be pretty much wasted here IMO. Nor do I believe it is possible for the average MyLotter to make 15 dollars a day on MyLot. Granted I don't have any referrals, and I expect that would help a little, but even with that I cannot see the amount of personal time that would need to be expended as worth the rewards, unless of course you were enjoying the exchange.

Same with me. My entire spring vacation on Mylot got me $12. Guess it all has to do with how many referrals you have. Tip: When you're tired of typing, take a break and upload pictures instead.

Obviously, you aren't going to get rich here, or at any other PTP site. I have found interesting discussions and made some new friends here, which is what keeps me coming back. It has a good layout and an active community. The little bit I get for my posts is just icing on the cake.

Nobody said you were going to get rich by participating in mylot, I find the best thing is just to enjoy the conversations and try and participate in quality discussions and before you know it you will have earnt the minimum. I must admit I have been somewhat discouraged at times when I have been typing away all day here and then I come back the next day and I only earnt 10 cents or so, the real money is in referals I believe it´s just really hard to get them as when you talk about sites like these everyone thinks it´s a fraud. My goal is to make payment in about another 5 weeks or so. I have other ways of making money online, taking surveys is the biggest earner for me, and when I combine all of my methods I have a nice little earner online. Good luck making payment and happy mylotting just try and enjoy yourself.

how do you make money with surveys though? I tried that but it seems that everyone that comes up, it says you have to buy something or partici[ate in membership first.

Hi MissAmie if you do it for money only yes mylot is not the suitable place to gain a quick buck. However if you do i for the fun of it than it is another thing. I hope that you enjoy mylotting and continue posting here. There is much more than earning money here.

I think that most people originally come to MyLot, with the idea of earning easy money, then after a while realise that you are not going to become rich here on MyLot. What you do get, are some good discussions, handy contacts, plenty of friends (good ones as well), with the bonus of getting paid for it. There are ways to increase your earnings on here, making your responses interesting and relevant, and not just a couple of lines. Starting good discussions that a lot of people respond to and then answering those fellow MyLotters (and also rating them as well with the + or -). Make sure you Tag all your discussions as well. Remember you also earn off your referrals, so if you can get any of your friends or family to sign up as well, then it all adds up. Finally, just have fun and enjoy yourself on here, I normally will earn around 50 cents a day on here without thinking about it, and it all adds up after a while. Remember $5 a month is better than a kick in the teeth.

There are lots of better ways to make money, honestly. I just do this because I like to vent, I've got some friends on here that I can trade opinions with me, and occasionally it can give you a few bucks to save or spend. Also, something I really like about MyLot that is nice, is that you can talk about ANYTHING here. If you think about it, Mylot is just a big forum - lots of sections, lots of people who will talk about anything. There aren't that many other sites out there like that, and so I stay here.

I do so much enjoy these discussions! I, however, do not have much time to post away like many of you. I wish I did because I could really get wrapped up in this! I am hoping to make money from internet jobs and leave my "9-5" job and join you all more! By typing away, learning new things and making new friends to chat with, the money is a great bonus! Hope to chat more soon!

Well, I would agree with most of the replies. If you are posting comments here to earn a living, it will never work out! On the positive side, you can earn something meaningful if you add quality to the website. As it is, most of us comment just for the sake of it and that would discourage mylot from increasing the incentive for the members. However, it is really helpful if you look at it as a medium to share information and at the end of the month, you can make a few pennies too :)

I think that it is a matter of choice. I am on mylot almost everyday because I like it very much. I enjoy my stay here and so I am here. The earning is secondary and ofcourse the only thing which I am looking for when I am on mylot. It is the information that it gives, the exchange of views the members get and so many other things which makes this site great and favourite of many members. Well you have mentioned that your time may be better spent picking up aluminium cans of the side of the road.... but friend again it is a matter of choice. Would you really enjoy that thing better than being here on mylot?

I can make close to $1 a day most days. Are your notifications turned on? Look at your friends list and see if notifications are on or off. Turn them all on so you know when one of them starts a discussion so you can make a reply. Ideally, they'll do the same thing and you can help each other this way. Make all the friends you can, but be picky about it, choose those people who you like or who are interesting so that replying is fun. They, in turn, will reply to your discussions. Do you have a digital camera? If so, snap a picture that has something to do with every discussion you make. Reduce it down to 28K or less then add it to your discussion or your reply to someone else's. You get credit for photos! Study the discussions with a lot of responses. Learn what people like to talk about. Mostly, it's about themselves! I started a discussion I thought would go nowhere fast, asking if people do their dishes every day. Good heavens, I got more than 80 responses! That's almost a dollar on that one discussion! I have a list of survey sites you can have if you make a friend request. I don't make anything from your joining but I do make about $30 a month from these sites. You'll do better than I since you're young and have a child. I also write articles and make about $100 a month and if you want to try that, I'll send you my boss' address, too. I hope you have better earnings! It's a matter of skill and knowing what people want more than anything!

I just made a friend request. Approve it and I can send you my list of sites-which I don't make money from if you join, they are just good sites to make money. I'll send your the address of the guy I write for, too. And some other links you can use to do some writing.

That's some great advice and I thank you. Now, if I can figure out how to turn on notifications and add friends I'll add you! I have a journalism degree that is collecting dust. If you wouldn't mind giving me some details on that, that would be awesome!

But atleast here in mylot you get paid for posting discussions and participation in activities, while surfing on the net and not get paid. I do admit that aside from having fun and sharing info, my mian goal is to earn money, the more you posted here you get more pennies to make it a few dollars.

I personally do mylot because I like it. I don't do it for the money, because like you said you can't even buy smokes with it! I have came across some really good friends here and I don't think I could ever leave mylot now. So many people have helped me in so many ways from relationship problems to hair issues I think in my whole time here I have only come across one or two not so nice people other than that I love everyone here on this site!!! BIG HUGS TO ALL!!

I agree with you on this and hopefully someday Mylot will give us all a raise. I joined because I heard that there was earning potential, however, I am remaining a Mylot member not for the pennies but for the fact that it is a very nice site. I'm sure people would enjoy the site a little more if they don't count on it for income.
