It depends. If the person "offed" my family than yes, I would want to attend the execution to be sure this person wasn't alive anymore to possibly kill any other people. But if it was a family member that was being executed I don't know if I could go, especially if it was one of my own kids. That would just kill me.
What about you lilybug, would you go? Why or why not?

I would go. However, I do believe in an eye for an eye. Nightmares, regrets or even horror at watching that person's life being taken from him or her would not be an issue for me. Closure happens for everyone in a different way, but the ultimate closure would be knowing that this person would never be able to hurt your family again.

If someone killed somebody I knew I don't think I would be able to attend the execution. I wouldn't want to see them at all even if they were going to die, not something I want to watch. And if it was someone I knew getting executed, I don't think I would be able to go to that either.

I don't think I could go and watch any execution, whether it be someone who killed someone close to me or a complete stranger. I don't have the heart to handle that kind of thing.

When someone does something against me, I have an overwhelming desire to get revenge, so if someone was being executed that had killed someone I care about (if I didn't kill them first!) then yes, I think I'd watch, and probably scream horrible things at them as they were being killed.
If it were someone I knew and loved being executed, I don't know. I'd want to be there to offer my support and shout loving remarks at them as they were being killed, but I'm not sure I could live with that memory fo the rest of my life. Their pain and suffering would soon be ending, but my life has to go on.

I am against capital punishment, and if a person killed someone I knew and was going to get executed, I would still be against it. I have discussed this topic with others before, and there is usually someone who says to me: "I don't believe you would say this if it actually happened. If the person killed someone you loved, wouldn't want to get revenge? Wouldn't you want to see the killer suffer?" and I usually reply that of course the person needs punishment, but a life spend in prison is revenge enough for me. I don't believe in capital punishment and I don't care about the circumstances of the crime, in my opinion capital punishment is never okay, and I definately don't want to watch an execution.
If someone from my family was getting executed, I am 100% sure that I wouldn't want to see the execution, I just couldn't do that.

I don't think so. The idea makes me queasy. Let's just hope I never have to make that decision.
