I had such a wonderful baby shower, thrown by family and friends and coworkers. I got everything I could have imagined needing for my first baby. And a little bit more! After the baby was born and the first few weeks/months went by, the biggest challege and expense, and the most needed things were diapers, wipes, formula and bottled water. Maybe you could get an online subscription for diapers? I know you can buy diapers on line... I never did because I had a BJ's very close by, but it could be a good gift. Maybe you could prepay so she can go on line and order what she wants. The best thing we did was we used our credit card reward points to order gift certs to Target and everytime they came in, I would go and buy cases of diapers and formula. So gift cert are always a good thing for a new mom.

My favorite gift at my baby shower was a Diaper Genie, but I also got baby clothes, diapers(you can't have too many of those), gowns..etc. You could also get her something. It doesn't have to be just about the baby. You could get her some bath salts or aromatherapy candles to help her relax after the baby. For my baby shower, my friend bought a set of baby bottles and put candies in them then put the lids back on and tied a balloon around each one. I loved it. The best thing to do would be to ask her what she needs. Don't tell her what you're getting her just ask about a few things so you'll know what to get her and she won't get repeats. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck and congratulations to your friend.

You can give lots of gifts like baby bottles, diapers, baby clothes, or if you can afford a crib why not?lol that's for her baby. For your friend, you can give her a pregnancy clothes, or sexy clothes for pregnant mommy so that she will still become sexy though she's pregnant. Also a underwares, it's really help coz the size was already change, you better give her large size of undies..hope it can help..

For friends, I usually give baby clothes, baby shoes/sneakers, diapers, bottles, small toys, children's books, and/or bottles. You could even go to a dollar store and find good quality bibs, bottles, socks, and baby toys. These are good gifts and good if you're on a tight budget.

the most ideal would be baby's first clothes. no toys as of this early. i think most mom would love to have things that would really be useful for the baby (or for her).

There's lots of great suggestions for baby things here already. For baby showers I do always get something for the baby but, I always try to get something just for Mom like maybe a charm bracelet with a baby charm on it that she can add more to as the child grows. Or something to pamper her...a bottle of her favorite perfume, or a bath basket with handmade soap, lufa's, bubble bath etc. Something for her to make her feel special.

my sister gave birth september last year. and i can say that most of her friends who are moms already gave diapers and some baby products like cream and shampoo and lotions and oils as gift. i can suggest to you also to give diapers (disposable ones). since you dont know yet what formula the baby will be using it is more advisable to give your friend diapers for her baby showers. clothes are only going to be use for a little time for kids do grow fast. if you want something that will last up to his toodler years buy a pop up books. the baby can enjoy looking at it when he is around 4 months old and can still enkoy it once he is on his toddler years.

For the baby anything will be used bottles bibs clothes nappies wipes all the essntials that are always needed However dont forget mum aswell i found i was forgotten about when i was due to go in and give birth to my first child i was induced on my birthday the day before my partners family came round and almost every "birthday" gift given to me was something to do with the baby i was thrilled with them but also slightly hurt they had not thought about me and maybe id have liked something totally trivial for my birthday that was just for me afterall just because you are becoming a mother doesnt mean that is all you are! try gift vouchers for mum for clothes (often old clothes dont fit anymore) or maybe for a local salon to get her hair done or her nails or some nice bath stuff for her so she can pamper herself at home once the baby is born and just have alittle her time cos thats really important!

How about books to help taking care during pregnancy or post natal baby care?
