Have you imagined...

Yesterday, I was outside looking outside in the streets and watched the weather clear up. I started to imagine what my town would have looked like if it were never civilized. It gave me a weird feeling that streets were not originally paved to begin with and I tried to think what it was like back in the days when there were dirt roads. I know some small history about my town that it cultivated apple and orange tress but other than that, I wonder what type of people lived and died around here. Do you know something interesting about your town?

I live in a Chicago neighborhood. From what I was told, what stood where my house and the houses surrounding stand today were, ready, pig farms. Chicago, hog butcher to the world (I think that thes line from the Sandberg poem....). Anyway, whenever I watch a movie set in the wild west days or before, I often think that I am so grateful to be living in this time, just for indoor plumbing alone (it was only 1 degree this morning.)

I know nothing about my town, except that I think there were corn fields absolutely everywhere around here. I do not think so much about the history of my town and how it looked when there were dirt roads. I think about how it looked like before people had ever touched it and got rid of all the beautiful natural land that was here, depresses me so I try not to think about it, lol. But if I had a choice between my town now and then, I'd definitely pick then.
