Hey thanks for fixing it. I am glad my parents never fell for the myth of using the steak since if I hadn't gotten bacteria in my eye I would have had a problem and had that chance of losing my eye because my stepdad wasn't the type to take us to the doctors.

I have had two black eyes before. We were visiting my inlaws, and in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I didn't see the beam that my fil had up for something, and I ran smack into it with my face. I was a pretty sight the following day. So many questions on what happened. I never used steak, since it happened at night. Weird thing, it didn't hurt when I hit my face. The next night, it happened again, except I ran smack into the beam with the other side of my face. By the time we went home, everyone on the plane was probably thinking gees, what happened to her. Again, I didn't use anything, it didn't hurt. So I did what I had to do and just went back to bed to later notice I looked like a raccoon in the morning.

yes most people just wait until it goes away on its own, it usually does. That was some experience you had there my friend.

Thanks for reposting the link. I had an article I posted where the link didn't work either and it can be frustrating.
A bag of frozen veggies has worked for me throughout the years for injuries where swelling is an issue. With 2 boys and 2 tom boys, I always made sure I had frozen veggies handy in the freezer.

I think the best remedy is the avoid the confrontation altogether and thus eliminating the urge for such violence. The best thing I've seen some use was a ice pack.

yes the ice pack is the best but people don't only get black eyes because they got punched there are many ways to have a black eye, the link explains it.

Yes, I had a black eye once as a teenager. I was with a crowd of giggling friends in a fast food place. I jumped up in a hurry whilst a friend sat down in a hurry. Her elbow connected forcefully with my eye. I had a black eye for weeks and the things people automatically assumed was so emabarrassing to me.

I never got a black eye, but I did have my eye swell from an allergic reaction. The idea of putting raw meat on my face has always seemed gross to me and I would never consider it. Just give me some ice and water in a ziplock, wrapped in a washcloth if neccessary.
