My daughter just turned 12 and one of my favorite shows that we watch together is "Extreme Home Makeover".We were watching it tonight and she said that what she wants to do is help fix home's for others. My husband always encouraged her to help others. He would be so proud of her. Do your kids like or want to help others?

I really enjoy watching this show too. I usually can't watch it without tearing up. There was Patrick that is blind and wheel chair bound that was on there this past year from Louisville, which is a town next to where I live. His dad even pushed him around in his wheel chair so that he could participate in the marching band. That's awesome that your 12 year old daughter wants to help others less fortunate.

I don't know them personally, but feel like I do since so much of his life has been publicized since the airing of the show.

My son goes out and does yard work for elderly. If I were you, I would contact Habitat for humanity and see if there are any projects going on.

I think its lovely that your daughter wants to help people. You should put her in touch with Habitat for Humanity. They build houses for people and I think even have programs that allow young people to get involved. I hope when I have kids they are as generous as your daughter.

Oh!! that is good values to instill to kids. I have no kids of my own but I have nephews and nieces. It is the parent's pride when kids are helpful to others. Many will be blessed with that kind of attitude. It is a joy of the old folks to see young children helping the old ones not only the old who will be happy and blessed but everybody who needs help.

Lol That's just kid! After my daughter said that she said,"I wish we could have a home." I think probably she said that because of our living situation right now.We are living in a temporary room.

That is very nice of your daughter to want to do that. My daughter likes to volunteer her time at nursing homes. I think that is wonderful also.

We love that show too! Right now our volunteer work involves helping animals. We set up the adoption center on Saturdays for a cat rescue organization and we are fostering kittens.
