Do you use a spoon to drink coffee or tea?

I admit it, I'm guilty. I do use a spoon to drink with my hot tea sometimes. After I stir in the sugar I just kind of leave it in the tea cup for a while and sip at the tea. I've always done this. My mother told me years ago that you're not supposed to leave a spoon in the cup. I do it anyway. How about you?

I don't drink coffee or tea, YUCK! so I would have to say my answer is no. However, I do drink hot cocoa and I will drink it with a spoon when it is still really hot but once it cools off I don't use the spoon anymore.

Whenhaving my coffee I use sugar and I don't keep my spoon after fixing it. I rinse it off and leave it on a saucer for the next time I wish to make a cup. If I have hot tea, for some reason I know not why I will put my spoon on the saucer under my cup when I am done stiring the sugar in it. I use it the next time for another sup if I wish one.

Yes I do. The reason is because the coffee or tea is still hot. I even blow it first before I drink it. I don't want to scald my tounge. I always use a spoon in drinking hot beverages.

I only use it to stir my sugar in.. And then that's about it.. But nothing else.. I'll put it at the side of the cup on the saucer. But I don't drink the coffee from the spoon. Sometimes I do sip coffee with the spoon to test the heat and also whether it's sweet enough. But I think it's not such a bad thing, as long as you're happy with it.. :)

Hello Shar19! hahaha! I am guilty of that too. I remember when my husband was here, we went to a hotel together and then we ordered coffee. When we started drinking, he got amused why I am using spoon when drinking it. Of course! It's too hot. I just can't drink it immediately..hehehe..

I'm guilty sometimes. But more so with hot tea after I stir in the sugar its just there. I think its due back to when I was a kid and it was way to hot to drink normally. But I will admit I do it all the time with hot chocolate, you need it to eat the whipped cream or mini marshmallows..lol. Do we every truly grow up?

I have friends that leave their spoon in the cup and sip from it rather than the cup itself. I have never been able to that. Coffee is a spiritual ritual for me. LOL I have to be able to hold the cup close to my face, enjoy the steam and aroma of the coffee rising from my mug before each and every sip.

Hello Shar19 My mum used to tell me off for drinking tea/coffee with the spoon still in the cup as she feared I would poke my eye out with it! I haven't done it in years and I guess it is just a habit I got out of after all my mother's nagging.
