He's a good player, but has his bad moments. What do you think, should he play for england or not?

I think Beckham should be in the team, not as a starter though, since he's way past his best. But I like the fact that Capello is really making the youngsters earn their place, by forcing them to player better than a Man Utd and England legend which can only benefit them. Surely the players who play in the same position as Beckham can learn from his experience, and while I said Beckham has past his best in terms of energy and overall ability, he still continues to be one of the best freekick/corner takers in the world with deadly accurate passing. Imagine 1 good pass can win a game, and who can match Beckham's passing in England in the same position? He certainly is a good alternative for the manager when the youngsters aren't able to sprint past the defenders.

He has been a great servant for his country, but I think he has had his time. He has hardly played any top class football in the last couple of years so I really can't see how he can justify his place when you have younger players such as Aaron Lennon, David Bentley and Theo Walcott waiting in the wings. These players all play regularly in the Premiership and surely deserve their chance. Beckham has won several caps recently by just coming on as a late substitute, and you wonder is he given these caps just so he can equal Booby Moore's record? Perhaps Capello has got a sentimental streak after all! I don't think he can possibly be mentioned in the same breath as the late Bobby Moore, and that it would be a great injustice if Beckham equalled or beat the number of caps that he won. Bobby was a true legend of the game and deserves his iconic status. I admit he has put in some great performances over the years (the World Cup Qualifier against Greece at Old Trafford immediately springs to mind), but I think he is now past his best, and it's time to give the youngsters a chance. So Mr Capello please don't hand out any more "cheap" caps. It's time to say goodbye David, and thanks!

In my opinion,if I'm the head coach of England national team,I will still choose David to be the captain. Why?Yes,he had bad times, but it's over.We must see,David is a good player. As a midfielder,he can organize the team's offense and show his gorgeous free-kicks.Yes,he should play for England.

ofcourse beckham is a good player. whether he shold play: depends on his fitness & his form compared to the englands other midfielder. whatever he is an outstanding player, with lot of passion & a real play maker. people may have bad patch in life. dont ignore their talent simply.............

David Beckham is still the best crosser of a ball in the world, and has a wealth of experience at some of the biggest tounaments and clubs in the world. For those reasons he definately deserves to be a part of the England squad. His recent spell with AC Milan has provien he can still do the job on a big stage, and although he doesnt have much pace now, he never did to be honest! Until either Shaun Wright-Phillips or Lennon can put togther a consistently good run of form at club level, I'd put Beckham ahead of all contenders for the right side of midfield spot.
