I have never been fired in my sixteen years of working. I try as much as I can to give notice.

I was fired once because I gave my two-week notice and the company didn't want to pay me for those last two weeks. I gave my notice in the morning, and by lunch they were telling me to clean out my desk. I was fine with that because I REALLY didn't want to be there any longer.

better then making you work the two weeks then telling you your not getting paid.

I think I have never really been fired, I was told for this one job they did not need me anymore, but to be fired no. Unless you feel that is being fired, they said there were no hard feelings they just said there was not enough work. I know times are getting tough for people so many are getting laid off. DO you consider being laid off as being fired? Anyway happy mylotting to you have a good day!

Thanks for sharing. No I dont consider being laid off as getting fired. Fired is when you are kicked out of a job because you done something wrong or were unable to perform your duties.

Gee, you guys are giving me an inferiority complex. Yes, I have been fired, more than once and don't even remember exactly how many times. Early in my working life, I worked mostly for smaller firms that went out of business. A couple of times, I was told I have the wrong personality for this or for that. Which is usually just an excuse. A girlfriend of my brother once had the following experience. She was doing a secretarial course, and had to do, as part of the course a period of job shadowing and the place she worked at was a legal firm. At the end of the job shadowing, THEY asked her, to come and work for them. After SIX months, they fired her because they decided she didn't have the right personality and fired her. Surely they had enough opportunity to find that out BEFORE offering her the job. Anyway, I wish you everything of the best and hope that you never get fired, (but if you do, it's not the end of the world, trust me!!) And sometimes, quitting can be as hard.
