The Secret Life of Bees

I watched The Secret life of Bees last night. It was a real good movie staring Queen Latifah, Dakata Fanning,and Alicia Keys. The movie was set in south in the early sixty's. Growing up in the South I can remember how times used to be, so I can relate to this movie.

ya, I think the movie gives alot of history of the times. With what happened to Dakota's character's nanny and such. It was a rough time for African Americans. Southern people just didn't get it. Racial indifference was very prevolent in that area. Especially in Alabama. Black people had to walk on pins and needles.

You may not believe this, but trust be me some whites had it hard back then to. If you was friends with an African American you was called names and some people didn't want to have anything to do with you. It's still like that here in some areas. I can remember living in low income housing when I was little and the black and white kids couldn't even play together. There was a fence deviding us.

I was just speaking from what I recalled from the movie. I have lived nearly sixty years in the northwestern US. I wouldn't even try to begin to understand how it must have been. I think the racial stuff is just stupid. Shows ignorance and contempt and even scared of the unknown. Just such a waste.

No, I have not seen the movie, but I did see the cast of parts of the movie when they all appeareded on the Oprah Winfrey. The movie does look like it is a good movie and will keep you attention. I heard this movie is now out on DVD. I thing I wil wait until it comes to ppv.
