Malaysian Politic, UMNO, PAS, PKR

Just to share my view:- I think that the only good party for Malay(sia) is UMNO and PAS. UMNO fights for Malay right. And PAS fights for Islam/Muslim right which is also we can say as Malay right. Malay will do well if one of these parties leads Malaysian government. It feels that PKR is just a 'substance' in the colon of Malaysian history. PKR has the heart to sell Malay special right to gain Chinese and Indian acceptance. Very sad to see many Malay support PKR, one day they will regret this. UMNO now is in its weakest condition. Instead of acting as the leader for MCA, MIC, Gerakan etc, now its acting almost like a puppet for these pendatang parties (or being bullied by these pendatang parties?). We can see that UMNO need a strong leader. A leader who understand the philosophy of UMNO, who admired by people, who is one step ahead of people. It seems like the current leader of UMNO does not even know what is the real current issue and please dont say about the future. The leader likes live on day to day basis. PAS has the strongest point - PAS fights because of Allah. Things that Allah told PAS will try to follow and things that Allah forbid PAS will avoid. For example, Allah asks not to do money politic so PAS did not do it. But, PAS always made short sited decision, action and statement. This makes people a bit inconvenient to support PAS. Also, PAS made a wrong decision when it takes PKR and DAP as a friend instead of UMNO (its only relative). What a loss of time and energy. If you ask me I will say that I will love to see strong UMNO and PAS. I think if there is such thing as dual party system in Malaysia I would like to see the parties are UMNO (plus its alliance) and PAS (plus its alliance). I dont want to see PKR and DAP as a major party. So, the stance is its either we choose UMNO or PAS to support and play a supportive role for the chosen party. UMNO is too weak to accept critiques, if we criticize UMNO I think it would not last long. PAS is too dumb to accept critique, they in PAS dont have an open mind. Thats why we have to choose either UMNO or PAS and support it (for the sake of Malay survival). What do you think? - this comment has been published in Tun Mahathir Mohamad blog on January 23, 2009

I see that you only mention about Malay rights and Islam/Muslim rights. You seem to have forgotten that Malaysia is a country of other races and religions! And Malaysia need a strong leader to lead like Mahathir ???? If UMNO is a credible party, why did people vote as they did last March? Why did UMNO lose out a number of states? The Malaysians are not idiots - UMNO has been in power for too long, and had done nothing to champion the rights of Malays (maybe UMNOputras). PAS is laughable - look at the statements they made! Mahathir is busy, stirring muddy waters - provoking racial issues, chasing away investors, not to forget, criticising and belittling the current PM, who I believe is trying his best for the country!

Someone may 'hunt' you for starting this discussion. It could be misunderstood by those reading only a part of it and emotionally react to it. UMNO has its weaknesses. One of the mistakes is living in past glory, and forgetting about the real objectives of the party. As a result many become complacent and think of only themselves. Nevertheless its strength lies in tolerance. PAS claims to be fighting for Allah, serving the people. The reality is different. Several people living in my area have regretted voting for it. The way I see it they are stoking up the emotions of Malay Muslims in order to gain votes. When given the power they blame the Federal Government for their failure to bring any real development. Look at Kelantan. Do you know the main item discussed in the first meeting after they captured Terengganu in the previous election? The number of mosques they have built so far is none. So how can they claim to be fighting for Islam? Most have forgotten that it was the leader of PKR who as the Finance Minister raised bank interest rates and wanted to levy Value Added Tax and borrow money from the IMF. What I know about him is enough to stop me from supporting him even when his fiery speeches attracted many people. As for the rest many of them are ungrateful. They even had the cheek to complain to foreigners that they are being victimised. The fact is UMNO has been very tolerant. The amajority of the poor are Malays. In Malay schools students are crammed to sometimes more than 45 to a class while in many government funded vernacular schools the number is far less. The way to sustain independence and economic strength is by keeping UMNO in power. As for PAS they should examine their hearts. Otherwise Malaysia will eventually go to the dogs. Remember who started the May 13th 1969 incident. all the best, rosdimy

Sorry to say this.I think you get the wrong information.Tun Dr Mahathir is the one who want to borrow money from IMF but because the PKR leader who was advise him to stop his idea.Maybe because Mahathir is too want become glamour,he said that Anwar want to do that.you must see what he has done to Malaysia right now?I feel scare because in the name of development and building,we got so many negative impact, only few and small benefit than big damage he has done to our country.See with your heart and intelligent not only with your eye.

Really? Then why did others inside and outside the country critixised him for NOT borrowing from the IMF? The Opposition cited countries which borrowed money from the IMF saying that they were doing better than Malaysia. Look at what is happening to these countries now. By the sound of it even if facts are presented to you none would you believe in.

This is more than we usually hear about Malay politics. I did not realize there were so many parties competing at this time. What are the main issues?

Religious freedom and economic equality. Other issues are related to these two. Currently one group of people have been spreading stories that they are being persecuted. Many believe this claim including at least one member on myLot. The fact is they have been allowed to build their religious buildings even in areas where Muslims are the majority. Current statistics: there are around 65% Muslims, around 20% Buddhists, around 6% Hindus and the rest other religions. If they are being persecuted they would not have been allowed to build any religious buildings in many areas. It is true that the government before this implemented policies to raise the economic status of the Malays. But the Chinese benefitted a lot because they are the main suppliers. Many companies are controlled by the Chinese, with a few Malays elected as directors so that the company can bid for government tenders. As for Indians many of them are better off than the Malays. The majority of lawyers are Indians. AirAsia and Maxis (mobile telephone service) are owned by two different Indians. The above are only a bit of information about Malaysia. I am giving my views as a free person, not being a member of any political party. all the best, rosdimy

I choose PAS because UMNO is run from their role to help malay. They not help malay but let malay become poor and starve at their own country. They only help their relative.I think you are true because i see PKR like UMNO too always help chinese. So sad to see PAS with them but I hope PAS will get more power and become a leader party around them.I cannot choose UMNO because for a decade UMNO never change. So boring to wait their improvement and their changing.Sorry for my broken english.
