Have you EVER been in the EMERGENCY ROOM?

I never liked hospitals, but one time when I wasn't really feeling so well, I decided that I have to see a doctor quick. So after the lab test which was the blood test, after an hour they found out I got dengue and on my 2nd stage and needed real quick admission. It was unexpected, but the doctor was firm that I have to be confined that instance. In my mind, I was like, "What the hell! I can't be here! No way!" But there's nothing I can do. It scared me. To make things worst, I stayed in the hospital for 6 days from the day I went there just to have a check up! It was terrible! I was in the emergency though, but it was never an emergency! Lol It's just funny and at the same time annoying that at times some hospitals are not organized!

I have not been in emergency room for myself.... But were there with my father, when he got his heart attack, waiting outside, peeping through the glass door.... Oh GOD.... I never want that experience anymore.... Every time the doctor after check up, kept saying "Can say anything only after 6 hours", and spending time outside, praying was really a hell.... But GOD answered our prayer and gave our dad back....

I have been in the Emergency Room more times than I can count. I have been there a lot during January for my daughter. She and her friends were in a car accident. There have been other times we have been sent to the emergency room because they have equipment there that is not located any where else in the hospital.

I've only been to the emergency room for myself once. About a month after I had our first child I got really sick. My stomach was cramping like nothing I've ever felt before and I kept throwing up. I couldn't keep anything down and I was in pain so my husband took me in. They looked at me for awhile and ran some tests and told me it was just the flu. I don't think it was though because I've had the flu before and this was different. But while I was there I stopped throwing up and they sent me home. I've been a few times with my husband for various reasons, sickness or hurting himself.

Twice. Once when my son was hit with a rock by another child and his head was cut down to the skull. When I realized it was beyond my expertise, we went to the emergency room. The doctor was so good you can't even see where it happened! Then that same child had appendicitis although not with the classic symptoms. They told me it was a belly ache and wanted to send him home but I insisted they do a white cell count and the results finally made them concerned. His appendix were about to burst, so always trust your instincts when it comes to your children. I was in an ER when I got into an accident and my spleen was damaged. I was bleeding internally and my brother made them repair it instead of removing it. I have an impressive scar running down my front from that and a healthy spleen, which they used to think was useless but now admit is important to your health.

Yes, once when I had to bring a friend on my own. It was devastating and nerve racking because I never had a strong stomach when it comes to blood and needle. I hate it ever since I was a kid. I was a sickly kid and came and out of the hospital several times when I was little but the first time I was in an Emergency Room was few years back. People look dying and in pain are unthinkable. I can never see myself working in a place like that.

Yes, I have been in the emergency room before. The last time I was in the emergency room was back in 2000 when my youngest son, who wasn't quite 2 months old, was terribly ill. He was lethargic and hot, so my husband and I rushed him down to the ER. He had some tests done, including a spinal tap, and the doctor found out he had a bladder infection and holes in both of his kidneys. I stayed with him and didn't leave his side for the entire time he was there (with the exception to use the bathroom, of course). He was hospitalized for only 5 days, but it was the longest 5 days of my life. Another time was back in 1997 when I had fallen with my oldest son who was only 7 weeks old at the time. My husband and I had been hurrying to not miss his regular doctor appointment when I tripped and fell right in their parking lot. Instead of taking him to his appointment my husband and I rushed him over to the ER. The X-rays showed everything was a-ok. Thank goodness! A couple of other times I've been to the ER was when I was in labor with my kids.

I've been to emergency room but not to seek doctor's help, I'm there to help. I'm a nurse though and I have been rotated to ER but I was assigned at the OR/DR. Anyway, I know the process of admitting a patient in our hospital (well, most of the hospitals has its own way of entertaining their clients and patients). In your case, good thing it was detected earlier because we have patients that seek medical help and it was closed to being unresolved and needed them to transfer to a more bigger hospital. But good thing your okay now and doing thing you like to do!

i hate emergency rooms but yes ive definatly been in there quite a few times. i agree with you sometime hospitals are very unorganized and sometime they just don't know what they're talking about. for example, i had mono once and when i went in there they said i had the flu and sent me home. regardless i got worse and had to go back the next day, they had no idea what was wrong with me until two days later. i was in the hospital overnight for a couple weeks because it took so long for them to figure out what was wrong, i was so dehydrated. im not fond of emergency rooms because i don't think they give the best care all the time to all the patients. that is just my opinion and i hope i didn't disrespect anyone with it.

I have been to the emergency room for everything from a cut to pneumonia. I have been there for stitches several times. I have been there a couple of times as a result of car accidents, and once because I had a seizure for no apparent reason. I have been there several times for back injuries as well. I have spent a lot more time in emergency rooms/hospitals than I care to try to remember...

Having 2 sons, 9 & 7. I feel I live in the ER. We live in a small town with no after hours care, so we have no choice. Both boys have had stitches 3 times each. Last time I was there was with the youngest, had a mild concussion from falling out of the bed. We got there at 8:00 pm and left at 4:00 am. I hate it there but have no choice. When the oldest was 5 he had to go by ambulance, he fell at school and busted his head open. The school is maybe 2 miles from the hospital, the bill just for the ambulance was over $1200.00. The school had insurance so luckly it was all covered.

I hate hospitals, emergency rooms, and Dr's offices! I have been in all of the above in the last year and I find that customer service in a hospital or emergency room does not exist. I would recommend...if you even think you have to go to the emergency room and you are able to do so, take the following items: 1. Change of clothes and undergarments 2. A book you have been looking at but did not have the time to actually start reading previously. 3. A few snacks that will not go bad in your purse 4. A bottle of water or 2 5. and finally your patience! No matter if you only need a bandaid it is going to take at least 5 hours! Hope you are feeling better! :)

Ive been like 3 times each for an arm injury, I broke my wrist twice (left one) and had severe contusions up and down my right arm after a basketball game. My favorite question they ask is on a scale of one to 10 how bad is the pain
