that might help keep a person from getting a lot of Colds, Flus, or Bronchitis. I am type 1.5 Diabetic which does not help the situation, but I have now had Bronchitis 3 times in like the last 9 months. This time it started with a Bad case of the Flu and then a cold, etc. but it was No Fun. It just seems like anymore they try to tell you it is only a Cold and there is nothing that they really can do until I complain that my chest hurts to cough, and sometimes it even hurts to breathe in. I do know it is getting frustrating for sure. The weird thing is I was running a high fever as well, but my sugar levels were good. So that was strange. But I cannot take Benadril, and I have taken things to try and build up my immune system to keep me from getting sick but working in a Call center around a lot of people does not help for sure. But seriously, there are so many people here, maybe someone can offer up a couple of tips on things I might want to consider so that I can for once keep from getting sick next time for sure. Thanks!! ~~TINA~~

Drink green tea, thats what I do. It has lot of antioxidents in it, that helps protect you from all kinds of illnesses. There is other stuff like ecinisha, (spelling) thats supposed to help. Washing your hands alot, thats a big one. Here is a god idea, get some disinfecting wipes or a can of lysol. Have that at work, spray or wipe the phone, keyboard, door knobs, etc. Pay attention to what people are touching, thats how alot of germs are spread. Also coughing and sneezing. If you shake hands and touch alot of stuff others have handled, then use the lysol or use hand sanitizer. I hope this helps, its no fun being sick.

You are doing all the things that I know to do, I am sorry that its not working for you, and that I can't help any further. The reason I am responding to this discussion, is that I have a question. You say you have type 1.5 diabetes, what are the symptoms of that? I have heard of type 1 and type 2, but never knew there was a type of diabetes that is between the two. I would like to know more.

I have learned that an orange a day keeps the doctor a day. Having vitamin C helps me from geting flu in winter. Or if I get flu it does not affect me so badly.

Being a diabetic really causes so much problems with your health. For cases of viral respiratory problems, I may suggest check out with your doctor if you can have the anti-flu vaccine. I usually have colds, flu and bronchitis many times in a year but when I opted for vaccination, I found it effective for the whole year. The vaccination only lasts a year and you need to have it again when another year starts. But it really helps a lot. One thing more, you should again ask your doctor if you could take multivitamins especially that you work as a call center agent.

My husband and my 2-year old son are asthmatic and a common cold triggers asthma attacks. To prevent attacks I make sure that they don't get colds. So I prepare meals/snacks of fruits and vegetables that are vitamin C-rich. I also clean the house thoroughly and change beddings/curtains once-a-week. No cats and dogs to mess around the house.

There are two things that i know of that you can do. One is washing your hands several times a day and keeping them away from your eyes nose and mouth. If you pick up some germs and then rub your eyes or nose you have put the germs to an opening that they will use to enter your body. Wash around your eyes, nose and mouth twice a day very carefully. I know your diabetic but I also take at least 1 teaspoon of raw honey and udistilled apple cider vinegar at least once a day. When I do get any lung problems I also take hore hound teas. it tastes terrible until you get used to it but it helps up clear up my lungs. I doctor it up with lemon juice and raw honey too.

Wash your hands, sanitize your work area. Get plenty of sleep nightly. Think good thoughts, be positive. Sleep in a cool room, make sure you have enough moisture in the air so that your mucus membranes stay intact and keep out moe germs. More people recommend spicy things, like horseradish, hot sauce, etc. to boost immunity. Extra exercise helps as well.

I like echinacea and vitiamin c. If I take 3 tablets of echinacea 3 times a day it helps a lot with my cold. Also, I have found it is a good health prevention (in my opinion) to stay away from vaccines, since many of then contain mercury and mercury is so harmful to the body and causes autism. Also, staying away from msg is a good idea since msg is a toxin that messes up the brain and causes heart attacks, high blood pressure, etc.

Tina~ are you always getting sick, or is this year an exception? I just got over a bad bought of the flu/cold and that is exactly what I was told, it will run its course. I think that this year more stuff has been going around. I take extra vitamin C every day along with my normal vitamins. I wash my hands constently and use hand sanitizer especially after shopping and touching the carts. As soon as I feel a cold coming on, I take Tylenol nightime cold and flu formula and it seems to catch it before it hits too hard.

Hey Tina! I don't have Diabetes, but for some reason when I was working I had the same problem as you do. I would get sick all the time with Bronchitis. I would get it 2-3 times a year. If I had the Flu it would turn into Bronchitis. The doctor couldn't explain why my immune system was so bad. It happened all the time. It seemed if I was in contact with anyone that had any kind of cold or anything I would get sick. I wish I could tell you what helps, but I honestly tried so many things. One of my doctors told me to take Echenacha. That didn't work either. I tried other vitamins, you name it I tried it! All I can tell you is do the best you can and try to get rid of the Bronchitis fully. It tends to remain dormant, but can start up again easily.

Hello! As my parents and grandparents used to tell me, it is of a primary importance for you to develop your immune system through eating the right stuffs at right amounts, plus, completing your diet with supplements and vitamins. I've read from some magazine that, one of the most important remedies in all kinds of illness is a good, relaxing and a peaceful sleep... Hearing that you are working in a call center, I can imagine all the stress you're in.. might as well try stress relieving meds too! ^_^ Good LUCK!
