A snowy location

I am amazed to say there is snow on the ground in my locality at the moment. I live on the edge of a coastal town and haven't seen snow since I moved here three and a half years ago. I went shopping and saw a little boy being pulled along by sledge. I have been to some snowy locations abroad in my lifetime. I have been to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The landscape looked magical with all the white snow. However the temperature was very cold. Do you get snow in your home country? Have you traveled to a snowy location? If so where? Do you like snow?

It snows in my country, but almost never where I live. I live in Southern California, so I have only seen it snow here where I live once in my lifetime, and that was way back in March 1991. Besides the time that it snowed here, I've seen snow four other times when we have went up to Idyllwild, which is up in the mountains. We had a lot of fun sledding down the hills.

Where were you just a few years ago (in the 2000s) when it snowed in L.A.? Here in Texas, we watched the pix of residents dealing with it, & laughed. It's all that glob--b-b-bal wuh-wuh-w-w--warmmum-ming! BRRR! LOL! Maggiepie

Yeah, I do remember when that happened. That was pretty funny. I'm about 100 miles southeast of L.A., so my city missed the snow then, but I remember seeing the snow level on the mountains a lot lower than I normally see it. Even when it just rains here or L.A., it's a big story on the news, but when that snow hit L.A., it was all they even talked about on the news. lol.

I adore snow, & some parts of Texas get it every year, but where I am, the "heart" of the state, Austin, it only really hits every dozen years or so. We've had more than enough freezing days, just not enough precipitation to get the white stuff--well, not more than a few flakes, anyway. Of course, there are actually some parts of the U.S.S.A. that've been declared disaster areas because of extra heavy killer blizzards. I love snow, but hey...too much of a good thing? Nah! Since our heating bills are pretty high, it's ALMOST...heh...almost enough to make me wish global warming wasn't just a hoax! Maggiepie

We have just had the worst winter weather in UK for about 20 years. There has been a foot of snow in places and now it has frozen leaving sheets of ice. It's becoming rarer in UK for us to get snow at all in some places so it came as a bit of a shock.

Thankfully I live in the sun as I hate the snow I think it is lovely to look at and admire through a window but thats it. It amazes me how the UK has ground to a halt though as they all panic and worry give it a week and it will all be gone

We get a lot of snow here in Minnesota, US. This year alone is the snowiest season and the coldest too. At some point last month the tempreture drop below - 30 D. coldest ever since I moved here 5 years ago. I have travelled to many snowy location. The first time I saw snow was when I was 5 in Germany. It was like the best thing to every happen to me. Since then, I have been to switzerland, austria, London. The most interesting place I have been is the Alps. I jsut love the snow that is why I moved to the mid west USA

It rarely snows here in the Sacramento area until you get up into the foothills, but the mountains are close enough that we can go visit it. Which is just how I like it!

Nainital-Snow View - Snow Point in Nainital - Upper Reaches
It is great that you finally had snowfall in your locality . It does get quite cold - close to 3 or 4 Degrees Minimum Temperature in the Winters, yet it does not snow here . I did travel once to a snowy location -it was close to Nainital in Northern Indian State of Uttaranchal nearly a year ago . It was a marvellous experience . I have a few pictures of there in my Profile too. And uploading one along with the discussion .

I live in the southern part of the United States and it's very rare for us to get snow. Therefore, whenever it happens, it's very exciting. The problem is that since we get it so seldom, we don't really know how to deal with it. Almost everything closes down. As long as I don't have to drive in it, I love it.

Yes it has snowed where I am too! It looked so beautiful when I looked out of my window this morning, I haven't seen it snow this much for more than 10 years. I do love snow and love visiting countries where snow and cold cosy weather is normal!
