If relatives are US citizens, is it easier to become one yourself?

I had a question just out of curiousity. My grandfather was born in Akron, Ohio and lived in Colorado until he was in his early 30s, when he met my grandmother, got married and moved to Canada. They moved back to Washington before their first child, my aunt, was born, and proceeded to have 3 more kids in the states before they moved back to Canada and had their final child -- my mother. Now I imagine it would be fairly easy for me to become a US citizen if my mother was a citizen, or had dual citizenship like my aunts and uncle, but if I were to apply for citizenship in the future would the process be a little easier because my maternal grandfather was a US citizen (and naturalized Canadian citizen) as well as decorated war veteran? My aunt, who lives in Pensacola, Florida, is a retired US Naval Officer (as is her husband, my uncle), and I know it's possible to have a relative sponsor you, but I wondered if you'd get any plus points for having ancestors who were citizens as well? I should state that I'm actually not thinking about moving to the states, it's just something I've often wondered.

I haven't got a clue, sorry. I was born in Canada and have visited the US a couple of times as a child, back when you didn't even need a passport to go there. But it will be interesting to see the responses, too.

Well I guess so. Am not really so knowledgeable in this aspect(naturalizing/citizenship)I heard some of my friends who are not even born here in the USA who were petitioning their parents and children and they are all here by now. However, becoming a US citizen takes a lot of time and process, but at least there is a chance. For more information concerning this matter I would suggest you may go to check online at the USCIS; there all questions regarding what you inquired will be answered.
