Hi guys! I would like to know your ideas why a PC suddenly freeze or reboots itself. Lately I discovered after defraging my HD and checked for problem drivers, but sill same symptom, the last resort was to change the other old 512MB RAM paired with the new 512MB. I'm still observing if it would freeze again and hopefully it goes well. I would appreciate if I could get your idea on other culprits. Thanks in advance.

The common reason is you have a lot of open programs that uses a lot of virtual memory. Most programs that can make your PC freezes are those big ones, like when you open Photoshop, Autocadd, Publisher and Dreamweaver at the same time. The remedy is to add more RAM. Another possible reason is incompatibility of hardwares. All should be compatible.

yes you are right. so that is why i avoid opening too many programs at once cause i have only 256 RAM as of now. it is time i guess to upgrade to 1 GB. but it is quite expensive locally to buy. but it will be worth i guess.

Hi, In my experience there are many thing can cause a pc to freeze, some of them that I've encounter myself are: - bad device driver installed - bad memory slot and abusive memory usage. - bad software (virus and other buggy software) - stupid programmer (as I did when I try to run my own program :( (it is ....) - bad hard disk/floppy disk (old hd can be quite nasty) - forcing install full fedora core 8 GUI on Pentium 5 60Mhz (64 Memory and 256Mb Swap) PC. (Do you ever guess how slow it can be just to show KDE?) Well that what I've found so far.

I had this problem also with the slots but mostly on agp slots for video cards. The comb-like metals inside the agp slots always get loose. I wonder if PCI-E slots are better?

I think the problem could also be due to too many programmes running at a time and causing too much memory usage . Now,some of these programmes could be starting automatically when you start the PC . Or , there might be programmes with some viruses etc which might be causing this problem . So;you need to uninstall some less important programs and also do an Anti Virus scan using an ANti Virus software .

There can be many reasons of suddenly freezing or rebooting of PC. 1. Loose wire connectin of CPU with main power source or ups. 2. RAM Memory is very low or Low. 3. Defect in hard disc or memory full of hard disc. 4. Computer is infected with virus. 5. Using internet Browser may be not working properly.

I think I'm having problems with one of the RAM. I've checked the CPU that it fits properly and the hard disk status is ok. Thanks for the tips.

It can be a problem with your RAM memory, and you really need to buy some more. Also it may be a virus which is wasting your ram.And it is common to be Nero Scout "Process: NMIndexingService" Or something like that. That can happen if you have nero. Good luck God bless

The reason could be dust in your system. Sometimes SMPS fan gets faulty and stop working just because of dust. That fan maintains the temperature in the system for proper working. When you start your system, it work properly but after sometime, it generates heat coz of non working of SMPS Fan and it restart itself. Just check whether SMPS Fan is ok or not, if not then check processor fan also.

your pc is freezing because it is using all the RAM. There are two common reasons. First your computer have a virus. Second you need to upgrade your Ram to 1GB at least.

Sometimes PC suddenly freeze or reboots itself, because your memory is too low. How many free space in your HD? If there is low than 15% from your HD capacity, then your computer will crash and may be freeze or even reboots itself. There is the component in your computer not stable, it need to be taut.

It maybe be having problems with the hardware. If there is a blue screen that would prompt hardware error or just restart when there's errors or something. Sometimes, it would be the software too. Memory module would be 1 of the causes or try your psu(power supply unit). just trying to help from what i experienced
