I am no longer going to answer questions about what I ate for Breakfast, how often I brush my teeth, in other words little mundane questions that are asked over and over again. I am looking for interesting questions and I'm sorry, to all my friend that expect me to answer their discussions about the same subjects over and over again. I just don't want to do this anymore. Enough of a rant, if you make interesting discussions please ask me to be your friend, or I will ask you, I need to do some thinking here.

I have come across the same situations. The few discussions I have started that I had a genuine hope to get feedback on, never got responded to, or the replies have nothing to do with how the discussion started. There have been a few that have been good, but some of the answers are broken english, and seemingly have no real insight. I have come up with discussions I will start sometime, I suppose, I just have not gotten around to posting them as all the easy questions get replies, anything more than "What color shirt are you wearing" gets ignored.

I was like you at first, no matter how many times I had answered the same questions I would answer it, but now I just don't want to do that anymore, I really don't care about the money anymore, I want to get thinking people asking questions. I made this discussion to attract some of those as friends .

A good discussion requires some brain, deeper thinking, something that 50% of the world's population never had. It's like a pyramid:on the very top there are only a few people to talk with.:) So, don't be upset, it's reality. And, of course, all intelligent mylot people should stand together and help each other with quality discussions.

i also have the same feeling like you... i am hoping to be able to answer to some quality discussions here... not just a simple yes or no discussions or typical discussions that people had started so many times... it is so irritating and annoying when you have to keep on answering to those types of questions... take care and have a nice day...

I think you have taken a wise decision. I never like to respond to discussions that asks for silly personal routines. Also that has the same subjects. I really find it boring to type the response. ..Now that you have taken a good decision, I'm sure you will be enjoying mylotting much more than before..

I can almost read your mind savypat. I am very very thankful to have you as my friend for you have never failed in our partnership in mylot. They are times I could not think of anything better to post either so would end up posting mundane discussions like you mentioned here. But it is rarely that I come to that kind of discussion. This kind of discussions are effective in getting lots of responses but do not really work the mind. They don't carry weight and would only appeal to certain people who do not want to strain their thinking. I hope you enjoy my discussions as much as I do of yours.

Well you've certainly made me think about what to have for breakfast! LOL I hear ya though. I stay away from those discussions as much as I can. A friend gave me a challenge awhile ago though, and I HAD to post a discussion about favorite ice cream (YAWN!) of all things! But I tried to write it in such a way that it didn't sound like the hundreds of others already posted here. I actually only go to those kind of discussions close to pay out when I'm trying to get my numbers up. lol Is that cheating? ROFL

Well, enough is enough too, for me. Life is like a box of chocolates but we can always choose which ones to put in our mouths and just ignore those we don't like. I find that even the most inane, stupid, run-of-the-mill, off-the-cuff discussion can have a kernel of interest that can be exploited so that my life does not remain boring all day. Sometimes they resent my humor. I'm sorry if they do, I just want to keep my sanity in a mostly stupid world. Gems are gems because they are rare. Cheers!!

Hey pat! I with you on this one! I have had it with these ridiculous one liner discussions! Actually, they aren't discussions at all! I thought they were against mylot guidelines yet they seem to be going on over and over again! Why don't they get deleted! It's the same repetitive ridiculous questions too! I also don't want to be bothered responding to them time and time again! I wish they weren't allowed!

I can relate to this. I came here to practice my writing. Sometimes I'll throw an eating thing in, because I'm just astounded by some of the names given to certain fruits and such. Names interest me, writing interests me, politics--not particularly. Same for religion. Too many people get ready to shed blood or get vindictive over little disagreements. That's not for me. I want to have fun, spread my wings, see new writing styles, have my wits and brain tested, and expand my knowledge.

But, that is such important stuff that will change all of our lives :o). I will say that on occasion I do like to answer mindless questions. It seems like when I post a question that takes any kind of thought, I rarely get any response, but when I ask a really simple question I get millions. Well, not millions, but you get the idea.

I am very sorry you feel this way...I have actually had friends in other countries tell me some pretty strange things they have for breakfast. At least strange to me so I chalk it up to a cultural learning experience and Im all for that. Sometimes what seems mundane to us, could be a learning experience for someone else..hard to say..but yes some questions do seem a little lame..Hope you stick with us.

i am new here so i haven't come across the same discussion yet. I think it is possible that we can come acrosss to the same topic. Well, that sucks...different topics would be great and have something to think about too would be an exercise for our brain to think...

Yeah I don't like responding to discussions like that unless it's something I may not have responded to before. I mean for example, I a responded to a discussion asking for what's my breakfast? I would respond only once and will never respond to a similar discussion again. One should start unique and interesting discussions if you want to get quality responses. Before I start discussions, I make it a point that I do searches first and see if anyone has started a similar discussion.

Hi savypat! I understand where your coming from. I try to start intriguing conversations. One of your previous responders pointed out that most of the serious discussions doesn't draw as many responses. Unfortunately, this is true.b You can look back over my history and see this. I hope I am able to keep you on your toes. At least from time to time.

I call those "fluff" and while some times they can be fun, I don't have the time, money, or energy for those. I like things that can get me thinking, fighting, or laughing. I don't like things that are mean, rude, or fluffy.

Great post. I just joined today, and I am trying to post on the more "technical / intellectual" threads. I've posted on Politics, religion, smokers rights, etc. I don't mind posting on a frivolous thread every once in a while, but I don't think I could do it continuously. Perhaps we can turn some of the superficial fluff threads into serious discusions :)
