my cousin wanted to work as a waitress, while waiting for a real job. i told her that i once thought about this while waiting to get into the university, but unfortunately, my parents didn't allow me to do so. i started imagining what if i did take a job as a waitress before. and asked myself would i make good tips? i think i would because i'm quite friendly and very good in hiding my actual feelings that is if a customer would complain or such thing.

I have thought about doing that kinda of work. I have never done it but I have meet people that say they make good money doing it. I think I would rather be a bartended though, I feel they would make more. I wonder why your parents would not let you do a waitress job? Hmmm I think that is making me wonder some things. Anyway happy mylotting as always and have a good day as well!

well, that time i was waiting to get into university and it's like 2months away. so, they said that it's better for me to spend more time with them and the other close relatives first before i would go far away from them. other than that my siblings loved my cooking so they'd asked me to cook every meal for them everyday before i'd leave them. that means i had be at home at all times. haha. have a good day to you too!

being a waitress IS a real job. being a cleaner IS a real job. working in a shop IS a real job. being a doctor IS a real job. attitudes like thinking a waitress doesn't have a real job is what leads to them being treated like crap by ignorant customers. to answer the question, I think I would make quite a lot of tips as a waitress. in my current job, customer services are the focus of what you do, so I do all I can to ensure customers get all the help they need, and leave satisfied. I'm polite and friendly. I should do okay tip wise.

Besides having a friendly attitude, if possible, you can even try to remember the customers' names. When you address them, I am sure that they will be surprised and soon you will be the best waiter/waitress. If you can even remember their favorite foods, it will be ideal. I love China

WEll, Waitressing is a REAL job...someone's gotta do it. I could not...I tried it and I had the personality for the job but alas...I was not good at remembering who got what etc. Also the restraunt I worked at was not a very busy one and so even if I did a great job, I would not make enough to live on. Waitresses rely on tips and in order to get enough tips, you to not only be good but have plenty of customers. I have a friend that works in a very busy restraunt and has for years. She is very good at what she does and earns great money. Why wouldn't your cousins parent's let her work as a waitress?

I think I'm pretty good when it comes to service. I probably won't clean the kitchen or the floors very well. But I make sure that my guests are happy. I'll try to get their orders to them on time and even refill their drinks when I have the time. I also like chatting up strangers, so I think I'll make good tips. I never waitressed though so I can't really test my skills...

waitressing is okay, hard work but okay, about the tips, it all depends where you work and what shift you work,

I have worked as a waitress and I'll say it is a real job because you work your bum off. Yes, I made very good in tips because I too am a friendly person and that is and good service is what gets you good tips.

Firstly,I feel I should point out that to most people that are already working full or part time in the Hotel and Restaurant business, what they do IS a real Job...It can pay the bills, mortgage or rent, and keeps a car on the road.. Depending where you live or work,Tipping may be customary,or not..Generally,if You're good at the job,can work as part of a team, and get on with people,You'll get tips...getting good tips mostly depends on the clientelle and the establishment where you work.Having initiative and being able to handle a complaint or awkward situation properly are people skills useful in this job too..

I think it depends on what restaurant you work in, what clients they have, and on your own personality to a point. A busier restaurant will usually pay better depending on the clients. I know a woman who quit her government job to work in a local family restaurant,( not a chain) and claims shes making more than she did in her government job. However I have also heard that working in some of the busy chains, there is next to nothing in tips.

I would completely fail as a waitress, or at least, it would take A LOT of getting used to, that's for sure! I could see myself getting orders mixed up, not being friendly enough, and getting frustrated at angry customers.
