Have you done your taxes yet, and were you pleased?

I think I have finally received all of the 1099 misc forms that my husband should get. I tentatively went over my return, and it made my stomach convulse. I probably owe over $2000.00, where will the money come from. All of my husband's earnings are 1099's and there were no taxes taken out, plus the money I received from unemployment is not taxed. I know I will not be able to pay what I owe, I probably will have to request an extension. How are you doing with your taxes, did you get a refund back yet?

What a bummer that you guys are going to owe that much. I am getting a refund. It is only going to be about $1300. I know my brothers went down because of his unemployment not being taxed and my sister is getting 1099'd and she will owe about $20,000 since she made over $80,000 not taxed last year.

UGH! I've never had to pay any thing in, and until this year I always got a refund. Only income to declare this year was my social security, so I don't even have to file.

My husband does them, he usually does them around the end of March. I would think since we lost a lot, and I mean a lot of money in the market we should get a generous return, it will not make up at all for all the money we lost but it should provide us some comfort. I am very curious to see what our return will be this year.

We've looked at ours and figured that we owe. So we are prolonging it to file last minute and then we will wait for that dreadful letter telling us... oh by the way, if you didn't know you do owe us such in such... and if we don't have it, we'll file for the extention. My brother in law filed and H & R block made the comment to him that even though he rapid refunded, and has for many years, he may not be approved for it due to the ecomony status and would have to wait the regular period and still may not receive it one time.

I have already filed and we got our refund back quickly. I feel for small business owners and people who work on the side. They really get hit with taxes, sometimes to the point that it's difficult for them to make any money. I work for a self employeed small bussiness owner. She isn't going to have to pay, but has already paid out quite a bit quarterly so she wouldn't have to come up with so much at the end of the year. It bothers me for small bussinesses to have to pay such a high percentage when big bussinesses pay so little by comparison.
