Do you like eating late at night? Does it have a bad effect on you at all to eat so late in your opinion?

I do, only because I go to school and work until about 8-9pm. I only munch throughout the day and then eat dinner at home, pretty late. I've heard somewhere that you're more likely to gain weight if you eat closer to the time you go to sleep - but I'm not sure if that's true (although it makes sense. The earlier you eat in the day, the more time you have to burn the calories off). I've also heard that the more wacky your eating schedule is, the slower your metabolism is (Although again, these are only things that I've heard - and I don't have any sources to back them up). I don't necessarily like it, although I find it the only solution to my crazy schedule.

hello, maezee. what you have heard are truths. one gets fatter and fatter if the habit of eating late night heavy meals remain unchecked. however, for those who work at nights, they are exempted from this rule. the younger ones, especially those who are below their 30's yet, may not notice so much the weight gained from this habit. this is because, their metabolism is still very active. for people above 35, the effect of taking late heavy meals will be very much noticeable.

I agree, but in a way, it's a little different, especially if you go to sleep later. I'll eat at about 9pm, but then go to sleep around 3am. So I'm sure it depends mostly on your schedule and how active you are after you eat. Thanks for responding to my response, though! :)

Well we work 7pm till 4am. So we eat all all different times of the day. We still eat breakfast when we wake up and supper after work. It just all depends when we wake up. If were up early when we get home we eat then sleep. If we wake up later in the afternoon when we come home we eat then watch a movie do things in the morning and what not. So it's never a scheduled time for us but we keep the right meals with the right times of the day that works for us.

I personally don't like to eat too late at night. However there are some nights where I just don't have the time to get dinner on the table until after 7 p.m. which is after the baby goes to bed. I know that some people say that eating so late is bad for your health and therefore, your weight. I really try to get dinner on as soon as possible. It's also a problem since we're so tired later at night. If I didn't have a husband and son I would just go to bed without dinner most nights, which I used to do when I was single. Sleep was much more important to me than eating...

oh my gosh I'm a big midnight snack eater. I cant help it, there's something comforting about eating late at night. i have heard that this could cause you to gain more weight but I dont think I would like to find out if it's true or not. hahahaha. but nevertheless, I do plan to curb this habit cause my mom has been on my case about it.

they say that you should eat heavy breakfast, light lunch and eat like a pauper at night and no midnight snacks if you want to lose weight and maintain a good diet. you don't burn much of what you eat at night and adds up to those fats in your body. but if you feel hungry at night, why bother about all these stuff, go ahead and eat, just make sure you try to burn it off through exercise =)

I don't like to eat late at night because it makes it hard for me to sleep but sometimes I have to if I am busy and get home late.

I am one of those people who eats late at night. I know that it is not good for you or your waistline, but that is what I do. I am never hungry when I first get up and I don't really get very hungry until afternoon. I am hungriest in the early evening.

Hello, well I don't eat late unless I had been traveling and got home late so I do make an exception. As for it being bad, calories are calories no mattter what time they are consumed. If a person watches their calorie intake it wouldn't matter what time it was consumed.Remember it takes calories to burn calories to keep the metabolism going.Especially to start out the day.

Most of the times when i work overtime at office, i will eat late dinner too. And i noticed, a week of eating late dinner will make me fat fast. yes i am. My tummy will get big and feel i am heavy again. Now i am trying to eat at 6 pm and will just munch on apples after work. If you are really watching your weight and want to be in shape, i wont tell you to eat late. Just maintain a 6pm habit of dinner and fruits if ever you go hungry again. I dont want to get fat again like i am last 2006 and 2007. Happy mylotting!

We never like to eat to late in the evening. Eating late at night is not good for people. Causes acid reflux and will not help with weight loss.
