My unhappy life in 2009

I can't believe this, but my life is no better than it was during last year. I had it made up in my mind that I will have a great life. But, I am unable to. Last year, a couple days right before New Year's Eve. The Indians at the motel would not let us get our clothes out of our room. I wanted to go to church that night. I did not have any clean clothes to put on. I had to go to church like I was. I was not too dirty, but I needed to wash up. I could not fix my daughter's hair. We all needed baths. It was very sad. We asked the manager politely if we could get our things out of the room, but they would not let us. I was very upset about this. I had plans to let my kids wear their new outfits that I got for them for Christmas. We came to the motel on New Year's Eve, but they would not let us get our personal items. I can't believe that this has happened to me. I have never done anything to them. Except be annoyed when the manager would harass us by phone.. How can someone else be so inconsiderate of another person?

Hey cream, is it possible to move out of that place? It sure doesn't sound as if you're being treated very well there.

2009 is still a long way to go. Should you were very much disappointed at the start, still so many things coming up that would give you, more smiles...thus no more unhappy life, for you...

That is true and a good piece of advice. This year is still relatively new and there are a lot of opportunities out there that can still happen. Not a good idea to give up just yet. We all have our problems. It is just how we deal with them.

Why wouldn't they let you get your clothes, Did you owe them money or something?

Yes, we only owe them $80.00 just for two nights. Those two nights we did not stay there. Because we did not have the money. They would have never let us stay there without paying any money. So, we chose to leave... And when we came back to get our things they would not let us get them. With their policy, even if you are not in the room but your belongings are we still was charged for the room. So, we understood that.. But they claim that we owe $200.00, and we were shocked.. We know that was impossible. We ask them to show us a receipt saying that we owe them that amount. The managers said that they could not do that. They never have shown us a receipt since we have been staying there. We always paid in cash, only. We are not at another motel and the Indians here they give receipts. They have receptiontists that give us a receipt everytime that we pay. So, why can't they operate the same way. They are from South Carolina. The rules and regulations of motels should be the same way.

Oh that sounds horrible..I am not completely aware of your story but I don't think it's right for people to hold you off in getting hold of your own things. You should call the police or something. That is not right. If I was there I would have fought them off since it's mine and they have no hold of my things. Find someone to help you and don't let anybody push you away like that. I am sorry to hear this happening to you. Hope you get your things back real soon. Take care and be strong.

That is what I have been doing.. I have reported them to the rip off report company already. I do plan to contact the Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. I am also contacting The Consumer Affairs too. I have other plans for them.. I plan to report them to everyone in the world that deals with bad businesses. I have called the police department many times before about them holdong my things.. I have even sent the police out to their motel about collecting my personal items. I will not stop and I will not give up as easily. They are trying to make my life a living hell, well their hell has just begun!

I think they should report them to the Authorties. they should let them get their clothes.

Well they did take the things out eventually and that was almost a week later. They removed them and put them somewhere at their facility. Why would they take clothes out of the room. We had dirty clothes and other private things in there. I don't anyone to see those things.. That is very private. No matter what, they would never let us get our things, no matter how much twe asked.

i'm so sorry to hear about your situation... i think the motel is not doing the right thing by holding on your possessions and unwilling to provide you with a receipt... i think we are always entitled for a receipt whenever we pay for something... it is our right as a customer/client... and i don't know about the law in your country... is it right for the motel to hold on your belongings just because you owe them some money??? i hope you can sort out the matter soon... good luck... take care and have a nice day...

This year is not much better than last year. If anything, it is getting worse. I don't understand why you were not allowed to get your belongings from the room. I would be upset also. That is really strange.

Because the Indians claimed that we owed them $200.00 Which they refused to prove to us by reciept. We know that we did not owe them that much. We owe only $80.00. So they will allow us not to get our personal items over $200.00. Which I feels is very fair.. If they are a legit business and a customer owes them, they why won't they take them to court.. They have avoided the law ever since this ordeal. We are the ones that is trying to take legal action out on them.

Hi cream! That is kinda frustrating my friend! I would be disappointed if that happens to me too but don't let this minor setback stand in your way of having a positive outlook in life. There may be some negativity that will come our way but it is just a part of our day to day existence, what matters most is to be hopeful for the best and be strong and firm in what you want to happen to your life. Be optimistic no matter how many hurdles there will be..it may be difficult for sure but in hte end of it all, I am sure that the rewards will just right there infront of you. I am sure there will be more and more blessings in store for you my friend.

I don't know. I guess you could contact the people who own the hotel and not deal with the manager, maybe you'll get some satisfaction that way.

That is the thing.. They say that their boss is in Florida. As a matter of fact, they claimed that the boss would give them the rules of what to do and not to do. Then we were secretly told by the workers that cleaned up there, that there is no such thing as their boss in Florida. They were the boss. So, they basically lied to the customers about their boss. That is what I have been told..

I'm probably thinking the same way as you! I was so enthusiastic at the end of last year! I said to myself that I would take some positive action come the new year and I guess the enthusiasm is starting to wane now! That sounds like quite a nasty experience that you had. That's a real shame and I hope that things get better for you in this new year. Some people unfortunately are like that but I think that there are a lot more decent people in the world. if you owed them 80 bucks , and the intentions to pay were honorable , then there should have been no problem , theres always leave your drivers lic. etc.. call credit company to advance some extra to your acct . in todays ongoing money problems , everywhere you go its dog eat dog , basically , they were in thier rights to lock the door , but depending where you live , they may be more lienient

And see that is the issue. They are saying that we owe them $200.00 But we know that we don't owe them that much. So, we ask to see a receipt. The manager said that they could not do this. So, that would be crazy for us to pay them $200.00 when they can't prove that to us. If we owe them that amount, then we have the right to request a reciept to be shown. So, that leaves them with us owing them $80.00. If we come to them with this amount, they still will not give us our items.. I believe that the extra amount is when they held our items in the room.. But see, we have been done asked them for our things and they would not give them to us.. They are trying to get more money out of us.. They kept our items in the room extra days just to get more money out of us.. How unfair is that?

Wow!! I hope you have moved away from there, as that does not sound like a Great place to be, and personally I would be making a complaint against that place and owner as well if it was me. This is not very good of someone, and if you are paid up they have no right to be treating you like this as well.
Sometimes we all go thru things we do not understand and in time you will be able to look back with your head upright and know it was all worth it as well. Just continue to keep your head up and do what you need to do until something better comes along.

I am just wondering why the manager harass you on the phone? are they really reasonable to hold your things? can you at that time nor report to the police of what they did to you? were you not able to pay that's why they did that? Sorry for asking but I could not understand why people do this to you without valid reasons? If they have done that to me, I will really report them to the authorities. That is violation of human rights. You are their customer, they have to be kind right? Is it no against the law to do that to a customer?
