No I am not really sick but I must be sick because I just made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies. I have not baked cookies in over two years, I am not that type of mom. My hubby and daughter and I will be leaving on Sunday and going to Reno so stay next week with our son/brother when they have their baby. So I thought I would bake cookies. Now when they see that mom has baked cookie they will know that mom is ill. I guess this just shows you how excited I am to be able to finally meet my grand son. What have you parents do that make your children ask you if you are sick? Do you like doing things out of character to shock them?

I think my kids take everything for granted with me! lol. They think I'm a permanently "sick" person. That was a lovely idea to bake cookies to take down to your son, when you visit to see your grandson for the first time. Good on ya, my friend, and Brightest Blessings.

Ooooh yummie... save an almond one for me, would you... I love almonds! Yes, the wait is usually quite long the first time around, but not always I guess. I hope not for your sake!

She went into the hospital on Monday at 10am and delivered at 5:04 on Tuesday. She did so well. The cookies are all gone. I did take some to my neighbors to have when I asked them to come over and watch the cats. I fear thou my old girl cat who has tumors on her side also has something else wrong. My friend who comes and cleans says Sammy was not well and not breathing well. Now she is breathing well but her abdomen is hard as a rock. I fear she is going into congestive heart failure or her abdomen is full of tumors. I will watch her I cannot afford a vet bill on such an old cat. I do not want here to suffer. I will have her checked out but I fear I will have to put her down. It will hurt but we did have a long time together.

For so many years of working nights and different shifts my body does not know when to sleep so if I am sleeping at different times the kids do not pay attentions. When I was going to school and working full time I use to get up at all house of the night to study. It is when I say or do something totally off the wall that leaves the kids scratching their heads at mom. I have had such turmoil in my life recently I have been listening to the religious radio station on iTunes. My kids do not understand that and that leaves them wondering what is going on with mom. I find the music and DJ's comforting and I need that right now.

Reading that you baked cookies now makes me want to bake some. My children are not that old enough to notice those types of things but I buy them toys and things just for the fun of it.

I use to do that. I loved to surprise them I also loved playing little jokes on the kids and they did me also. The kids worked at the mall and when they got off work the mall would be closed so the parking lot would be empty. I had keys to their cars. I would sometimes move their cars while they where at work. I would move it one row over of a 6 spaces down. Not a long way away so they could not find their car. They would not know where there car would be when mom stopped in to see them at their work.

The first time I did it my daughter came home and said "You know I thought I put my car one place but I guess I did not." and I had to laugh. From then on they knew mom has struck again. We use to do silly ticks on each other all the time. Nothing to scare each other and nothing to hurt each other. Just good clean fun. February 17 we had a baby shower for our son's girlfriend and my daughter planned and bought all the food. We cooked for 2 two days. She made such a great spread but every time she was going to cut, spread or do something in the kitchen I had a special tool for it. My daughter and my son's girlfriend sure teased me about all the gadgets I had. Then when we would use one gadget for something else they would tell me "No you could not use that special spoon for such and such." We laughed and laughed. I told them when they turn 50 they would have a well stocked kitchen. I have a cookie scooper, it looks like a mini ice cream scooper so my daughter used it to scoop chicken out on to chicken sandwiches. Then when I tried to use it on something else she said it was the special chicken scooper and we could not use it on stuffing the stuffed tomatoes. Silly girl I told her she could be flexible. The three of us had such a great time in the kitchen.

That's funny you probably had them thinking they were going crazy or having memory loss especially if you never told them it was you who used to move their cars from the spot they parked it.

That is too funny. Maybe you were just in the mood to bake. Is that possible? Every once in a while I just feel like taking a recipe and adding ingredients and stirring and creating something for everyone to enjoy. I never really do anything TOO out of character... nothing that really surprises anyone. I guess I'm just too predictable! :)

it is just a joke in our family that when I make a major re-arrangement of furnitures at home or do some genereal cleaning at home, then I must be sick. My husband would tell me that I must be sick again when things go from one corner to another. Or when I clean the car (from washing to vacuuming), my family would comment that I must be sick. But the term "sick" is just a joke.

The kids know I must be sick when I do something unusual. they always tease me and I love it. My children are 27 and 30 and love it when are all together and they are teasing me and are laughing.

Hey tea! Oh don't worry about it! I think that your son will understand that you are just so excited about being a new Grandma! It's something new! You're just practicing so that you can bake cookies for your grandson! Nothing wrong with that! Who's watching Petie, Daisy May and the rest of the crew? I know they aren't watching themselves! And you can't possibly be taking them all with you now! I know how excited you are about meeting the new grandson! You will be a wonderful grandmother and he will love you no matter what you do! So enjoy yourself! And baking is so fun isn't it?

Thanks for your kind words Opal. I never told you but Amethyst and opals are my favorite stones. Petie will be staying with a friend once again and I will taking Daisy May with me she can stay at my son's house. When we are at the hospital we have rented a kennel at the Circuscirucus hotel in Reno. The kennels at Circuscircus you have to take care of the dog but they have a run area and it is near the hospital so I can leave and go walk her. My neighbors will be coming over everyday to feed the cats and give them love and bring the mail in. They are coming over today to meet Sammy and Abagail. The neighbors have 5 teenagers and keep a good eye on them and are well behaved children. I do totally trust them with my house and kitties. I do think the kitties will totally love them.

Ha, that's cute that your trying to keep your mind off the excitement by baking cookies. They will surely enjoy them. My children aren't old enough notice any difference. My mom, I could always tell that something was up when she made her favorite cookies.

I put almond extract instead of vanilla in them and it made them really good. I did not have any almonds so I used black walnuts that I had in them. I know it does not sound good but they are.
