Did You Ever Think You Were Having A "Paranoramal" Experience, But It Wasn't?

I was just relating this story elsewhere in a reply to someone on one of my discussions but I thought I would elaborate on it more. Okay right off the bat, I have had a few real, genuine "paranormal" experiences...you know those things that can't be explained logically, coherently or rationally. I actually have related a few of them in an article I've written and my article is now published in the current January/February issue of FATE Magazine--(okay everyone now rush and buy it..heehee) I've had experiences of seeing a genuine ghost (my great-grandmother), to hearing a voice loud and distinct in my mind warning me I needed help...and it turned out to be a medical problem in which the bottom line is I was walking around with a severe infection in my system and had a temperature of 105.6 yet didn't feel sick one bit, to a presence pushing me out of the way when a out of control, speeding car came zooming at me...and no one was there, at least not a "real" presence. So being that I'm probably a "sensitive" I've been kind of accepting of strange unexplained phenomena in my life and have accepted it as rather "normal"--at least for me. So here's another story that I swear is true.... My mother had died on August 27, 2006. Since she had died, I now lived alone. It was late at night but now some months later in 2007, and by now had my own computer..finally. I was in front of my computer doing some kind of work and it was quiet. My two kitties were asleep, the apartment quiet, quiet, quiet. All of a sudden I nearly jump to the ceiling as I hear this rather eerie..."Hellllloooo" that I swore sounded exactly like my mother. The "Hello" occurred several times and I have to admit, with all the paranormal experiences I've had this freaked me out so much, I turned off my computer down. I was actually shaking with fright. I'm sitting there thinking, nuts, is my mother trying to communicate to me via the computer??? Very hesitantly I rebooted my computer...it was quiet again. So now I breathe a sigh of relief, thinking, okay, maybe I'm just going a tad crazy or something. So I go back to the website I had left off where I got the strange "voice" from beyond. But then....oh no! Oh, my! The voice came back..."Helllloooo" But then I started to laugh so frickin loud realizing what it was that I scared my two sleeping cats...It was....it was....One of those talking smiley ads. Okay...stop laughing...I said stop it!!!...I can hear you...Stop that laughing!!! Soooo...have any of you thought you were having a paranormal experience...a visit from the beyond...a voice saying something to you and it turned out to be something completely different and obviously NOT a paranormal experience? Did it at first freak you out, but then when you realized what it really was you couldn't stop laughing at your own silliness?

ya, I have had times when I thought I heard people saying my name. Not like calling me but just saying my name. And I would look around and there was no one there. Now what does that mean?

I've had that happen to me too. One time my mother had an early appt with her doctor at the hospital...I was still sleeping when she left. Then somewhere along the line I kind of woke up, since I very distinctly heard her voice saying "I'm scared."...she had a lot of medical problems including having been diagnosed eventually with cancer...so...was I hearing her fear??

I think it very definitely could have been. Keep a log of when these things happen. And this may help. In that I am saying then you may be able to detect if it is her or something else and be more open to her as well.

I can remember being a kid and my mother kept hearing voices that sounded like they were coming from inside the house but obviously none of us were talking. Well, we thought for the longest time something odd was going on. However, we finally investigated and found people outside of the house, outside of her window actually, talking about trying to get a ride from someone here or something. They claimed they thought her bedroom window was a door but we seem to think otherwise.

It does seem strange when outside voices can sometimes sound like it's coming from indoors...that happens a lot here too

I recently had an unexplained "Paranoramal" Experience. Wouldn't you be glad if your mom can to speak to you? My Da used to speak to me maybe in dreams at night but it felt like I was awake. I'm not afraid of things like that but I do like to figure out what is meant by it. xoxooxxoxoxo

I can't understand that as all and its only happen at night. Bright Blessings. Tamara

How funny I just commented on the Hello ones here at myLot. The first time I head it I was afraid someone was in the house. I am deaf in one ear and cannot tell where sounds are coming from. I did not realize it was coming from my speakers.

Tuesday morning my hubby went to work and I was in my office on the computer. The doggies asleep in their baskets. My back is to the door and my hubby came home and walked down the hallway a few times, and was on the phone. He scared me when he walked up to me. Petie and Daisy May never even got out of their baskets like they usually do when he comes in. I screamed when he scared me, I was listening to my radio station I always listen to and deep in an email and never even knew he was here.

Hi pyewacket! I was victimized by those talking smileys too! haha..I literally jumped off the chair and feel down. My husband was really laughing so hard because he saw me that time. However, I did experience some paranormal before such as seeing a lady wearing a white dress when my friends are driving home one night; I heard a deep laughter over the phone when my friend and I were chatting as if the laughter is coming from a well; and many more but the thing that really scared me was when I was about to sleep one night and I was praying, the frames in my room suddenly were moving gently then all of a sudden, I heard lots of noises outside my bedroom as if frames were banging at my bedroom wall. Then I heard lots of crashing as if vases and furniture were being thrown at my bedroom wall. I tried screaming my dad's name to ask for help but no voice is coming out of my throat. It went on throughout the night and just stopped at around 5 in the morning. I was not able to sleep and just sat at the corner of my bed. I am shaking and frightened and as soon as the banging stopped, I gathered my strength and courage and opened my door..peeped slowly to see what were thrown around. I was shocked to see that everythng was in order, no broken vases, no chairs or tables being thrown or out of place. Until now, I didn't know what happened and what was that all about. It never happened again. Take care and blessings my friend! lovelots..faith

Hi dear! I did however ask a priest to bless our home and we did some prayer rituals too. But we never knew what was that all about. Some of my relatives were skeptic and a few believed with what I have experienced. Can't blame those who don't since it was really something that is very extraordinary and unusual to happen and they thought that I have just some wild imagination. But that scared me so much. lovelots..faith

Hi Pye..Congratulations on getting your article published in Fate..I shall look out for that now! It is one of my favourite mags. Like you I am quite used to the paranormal too...and have had loads of things happen to me, there have been times though when obviously what I thought I heard or have seen have been totally real..one thing happened recently, but am still not sure about it. My daughter and I were sitting on different chairs and I had the window behind me, the curtains were drawn and my son was sitting beside me too..we were just talking and then the curtain behind me fluttered and moved, my daughter being sensitive too just looked at me I had seen in throught the corner of my eye and whispered to her 'did you see that?' she nodded then my son piped up and said if you are talking about the curtain then there is a draught coming in from the window..my daughter and I looked at each other and laughed. Thing is to this day it hasn't happened since so...it probably was a draught or perhaps one of my spirits in my house? which?..littleowl

LOL--think I'll go with the idea that you had spirits in the house and not a draught from the window, considering it was the only time something like that happened

I sometimes think I have "spirits" in my apt. too--and often think they are the spirits of departed fubabies I've had. Like sometimes I see something from the corner of my eye, a shape like a cat, but when I look directly at the "shape" nothing is there of course...or sometimes my cats seem to go nutsy for no reason at all, running around all over the place like they are chasing something...and you have to understand my two cats are pretty laid back and quiet most of the time, so wonder if THEY are sensing something

Hi hun yep I definitly agree with you as since that day the curtain hasn't budged when it has been drawn..this response maybe a little late but something else happened today too my son was off work we were both in the front room and so were my two dogs, we were watching tv then all of a sudden there was a really loud thump from upstairs, my son asked me what it was and said it was upstairs-naughty me just smiled back and told him no-one was there but went up just to make sure all was ok and see..once again no-one was there everything was inplace..so went downstairs and just said to my son there is no-one up there it must of been one of my friends!! lol He just went red and didn't say anything! He has also heard someone walking in his bedroom when he was on his own...so did my daughter and I at one time...so yes I do have spirit friends and family in my house it can be quite funny at times..lol..hugs littleowl

I know which "Helllooo" you mean as I nearly jumped off my chair. I certainly did not think it was paranormal but it remined me that I had forgotten to mute my sound which I usually keep turned off.

I think I have already. Before, I was more scared with ghosts and stuff. When I'm alone, I always think that I'm seeing them but actually I don't. What I mean is, I tend to see things differently when I'm so scared. But in the end, I was not actually seeing ghosts; it's all just imagination.

hee..hee.. hee... nice one.. once while working late at the office (with everyone else gone home), i had left my mobile on 'vibrate mode', and somehow had accidently pressed the 'redial' button to call my husband.. the phone was on my desk.. so while so very busy looking thru' my worksheets, i suddenly heard my husband's voice calling to me.. first it was just "hello.. hello".. then when i didnt answer back - because i had no idea where his voice 'was coming from' - my husband got annoyed and started to raise his voice... i didnt know why i never bothered to look at my phone.. i guess i was too scared, surprised to hear his voice 'out of nowhere', plus with the fact i was alone at the office at that late hour.. i decided to actually call my husband to tell him about the 'wierd' incident.. and only then that i realised his voice was coming from the phone.. he had a real fun time laughing at me.. of course.. oh.. also are you fimiliar with the air-freshner 'auto dispenser'.. that thing can also provide some 'scary sound effects', too... especially in a very quite room..

Oh my that is funny. Bet you and your husband did get a few laughs about that. Nope never have used those auto-fresheners. Another funny thing to happen. I'm now "used" to the sound, but the very first time I heard it, I got the creeps. I was in front of my computer, late at night, it's quiet, right? I then start hearing this eerie moaning sound...sort of like you expect a ghost to moan. Know what it was? My cat Kissy snoring and moaning in her sleep!

Hey, don't feel alone!!! I about peed my pants the first time I had one of those darned things holler "Helllloooo" at me!!! I do have one that I haven't figured out to this day. I was living in a very old house that was converted into apartments and I lived on the top floor. I had gone into the bathroom to use the toilet, and was sitting there reading a magazine when a voice RIGHT BESIDE ME, said "hello there"! I about filled the toilet right then and there!! I checked the whole building and no one was home, and no one was home in either of the houses next to me. The TV and radio wasn't on either. I'm going to call around and see if I can find the January/February issue of Fate...I gotta have it now that you're a famous author!

Ha! Ha! That's funny! I was picturing the whole scene, very amusing! I freaked out one night by a dark shape in my room that I spotted as a woke up and I was convinced it was a man in a dark suit and a hat on. I was very frightened and I hid under the blankets all night shaking with fear. In the morning I discovered that it was my bath robe hanging behind the door. To think I thought I was a goner for a while there!

What have you been smoking? lol....joke! Hey did you really sell an article to a magazine? That's really neat! I sold one to a search engine called IMAKENEWS and the same article ranked #1 on Kosmix search engine. Congratulations! The most paranormal experience I've ever had in my life was thinking someone was in the car with me while driving down an old country road all alone at night. Talk about scared you-know-what-less! It was more a funny trick my mind played on me probably as I was very tired that night. I was about to doze off (yes, while driving) and I just happened to catch a glimpse of light from my inside rear view mirror. I sware I saw a silhouette or eyes or a mask or something. I'm not really sure but I was so jolted by the experience that I stayed awake all the way home! I'm not really sure why that happened, but the next morning I heard on the radio that someone wrecked in almost the same spot where I remember seeing the glimpse of light. I'm just going to chalk it up to a good thing because noone was hurt, but the car was totaled beyond repair. It was a much bigger car than mine and I don't really think my car would've wrecked quite so gracefully. Thanks for another fun topic and good luck with your writing. You seem to be a "natural" at it.
