I think today most people take color photos. But I think the black and white photos are cool and they seem to have a better taste. It's quite easy to use some softwares to make the color photos into black and white photos. It has the elegant feeling.

Not all shots and photographs are good for black and white effects. Depending on the subject of the photograph in question, color can be the better choice. Usually how you determine whether a photograph is good for black and white or not depends on how you want to portray the subject. If it is details that do not require color, then black and white may be a good choice. Think heritage photos. Or pictures about architecture with lots of sculptures in the design. Or even an old person with a wrinkled but contended face. But if you are talking about a garden full of flowers (think switzerland and their fields of tulips of multiple colors), then making it black and white may loose the original feeling and message of showing the photograph.

I like them because they are more artistic. In fact, I have color photos of family around my house and am thinking of converting them all to black and white to make it more artistic and cohesive.

Black and white photos are very classy. Though the normal pics I take are colour, I prefer black and white for professionally taken pics. Especially those of my kids, I sometimes get professional pics taken and get the good ones in black and white or with a play of light. They come out great!

Black and white photos give that raw effect. You get to catch more details that you often don't consider with colored portraits.. If you really feel something at a particular moment, try capturing it in black and white (^_^ )

I love to take black and white photos! Haha, just recently I attended a photography workshop on color management. It was so technical and complicated that as I left I swore from now on I would only shoot in black and white! But seriously, I do enjoy black and white photography. I love to shoot with black and white film! I actually plan on shooting a whole black and white digital series in the near future.

HAHAHA It is funny for me to see this discussion right after I changed my avatar picture to one that is black and white. LOL So do I look elegant? HEHE Just kidding. I love black and white photos and I think they do look better. Also I think it hides certain flaws, like my chicken pox scars and pimples more that when a color photo is showing a red beacon on my nose. LOL It is pretty easy nowadays to change a photo to black and white, I think. Simple editing software does seem to have it. And when you get them printed, they look pretty cool.

I do agree with you that nowadays majority people take color photos. For me i love both colored as well as black and white photos. Both of it have their own beauty. In colored photos, you can see the life in it through the colors. On the other hand, in black and white photos you can see the beauty of the picture as well with only black and white. And there's this feeling that it has a lot of value and history in the picture.

Not much people take black and white photos nowadays.. most took color photos.. I'm not really into photography, but most black and white photos that i have seen are really from the old days, and these are practically not really 'artistic' to me, haha..

I think that black and white photos have a special taste in comprison with those colored ones. We have many black and white photos in my family. Those were takes many years ago. All can help me recall the past. That's very nice while looking at those photos.

My friend took some black and white photos at a wedding that was at a charming looking church and the reception was at a castle. The photos looked elegant and had a timeless quality about them. The romantic looking old car broke down on the way to the airport.

There are extremely fine black and white photographs, that were taken by masters in the field of photography. I also like contemporary black and white photographs. Sometimes I think that black and white photographs convey mood better than color photographs do. Have a great day!
