here I go again with the wedding collors. I thought I was decided with the shiny navy blue and hot pink then comments started pouring in that it was too dark. I know we're not supposed to listen to other people but it's really really hard not to. we're now leaning towards bluegreen and pink. what do you think? please please help me! what colors did you use on your wedding?

I have a photographer friend who's been in the business for a long white. He said that the colors actually work with the people in the guest list, or the entourage. If the entourage is leaning to the darker skin color, then it's not really good to put pastel colors or shocking colors with them, because they tend to look darker. On the other hand, if the entourage is leaning to the lighter skin tones, then pastels would also look pale. He suggested to us that what's actually good on photos are those of red, orange, yellow (dark), green (dark), and some pastels (provided that they don't stand alone and should have another color combined). So, for my brother's wedding, since we're mostly light skin toned, we'll be using red, orange, and yellow tandem. Not to mention that the wedding would be in summer, so it's actually a good color. Plus we'll be using fruits aside from flowers for their decorations. I'm concerned about the pink you said though. Though it would somehow look good in photos, but I'm doubting that it could be too feminine for men and those who are dark-skinned would look darker. Similarly, I don't know if you're superstitious or what, we actually wanted to have navy blue too but the mother of my sister-in-law to be said that blue corresponds to sadness. Plus, navy blue look black at night too, same with brown. Anyway, work around what looks good for you. If you'd listen to everyone else's ideas, you're sure to get nowhere. Remember it's you and your husbands day. We are actually limiting our guests (we're only targeting 40 people or less) and it'll be a formal dinner something so that the wedding would be serene and elegant. My brother doesn't like the thought of feeding too many people just to impress them. I'm now inclined to what he's thinking. After all, the important part there is the wedding sacrament, and not the feeding. Good luck! Keep the worries away, and be practical, focus on what's important. Happy Mylotting!

hmmm.. red, orange and yellow. that sounds good. oh no! not another color combination for this indecisive bride to be. hahahaha. =) i love the idea that your brother will have a small, intimate wedding. I wish ours could be like that but we have so many relatives, it's ridiculous. thanks for the response!

Yes, we too have a lot of relatives, but we're keeping it secret. It's better this way than just waste money feeding people you're not really that close with.

It depends on the day of the wedding. If its in the morning till mid afternoon event, choose a lighter color but for night event choose a darker color - I think shiny navy blue and hot pink is nice at night for bluegreen and pink, you can use it for night and day affair.

What season are you getting married in. We got married on the last day of march. We had royal blue, and dark pink colors for our wedding. I had actually wanted to go with each girl wearing a different color, but the dresses we chose only came in the two colors, so we had 2 girls in blue, and 2 girls in the pink and the guy they walked down the aisle with had a matching tie and cumberbund.

My fiance and I are planning our wedding as well and have decided that since our wedding is going to be in the fall and since it has a western theme we are going to use fall colors. If you have a theme for your wedding I would recommend thinking of what colors would compliment that theme! Congratulations!

I watched this show in Oprah before wherein they feature different motifs for weddings and the one that lingered in my memory is the one with the hues of red theme. Though it was quite dark, it was romantic in a way. It was set up in a tent with the perfect lighting and a lot of red roses! It was really romantic but it's really up to you... I suggest you also select a color that will compliment you! =)
