When l was young, l always read story book during my breakfast. But my mother always complained whenever saw l do that way. She said it is not a healthy way, reading while having our food. She said, we must concentrate with what we are eating. How about you?

I like read while I am eating. My fiance and I work at night and when we get back home (early in the morning) I often read the newspaper while I am eating. I like to read the news before going to bed. When I am alone I also like to read while I an eating lunch or dinner, but most of the time I am not eating alone, and then I don't read. When I was a child I also liked to read while I was eating, but my mother didn't like it, either. She thinks it is bad habit, and that might be true, but it is a bad habit that I intend to keep

Well, to me it's like 'texting while driving.' I kinda do it (if you count 'reading the closed-captions on the TV' as "reading"), but sometimes my mouth 'forgets what it's doing' and I accidentally bite the inside of my mouth! But your mouth is probably better-trained than mine---at least in the run-of-the-mill stuff.

I know reading is a good habit. But as a parent, sometimes it is very frustrated to see the children just focus on reading but not doing other things like eating properly. My son likes reading at night because he has free time after doing the homework. Sometimes I have to push him to be faster since it is very late for him to go to bed already. It is a dilemma because on one hand I hope he likes reading, but on the other hand I hope he can go to bed on time.

Youless, indeed sometimes we as parent will tends to feel frustrated when seeing our child don't obeyed us. The best way is, try to let our son know as which time he can use for reading. And always make sure that he sleep on time, since our child will need enough sleeping time to be able to fully concentrate on his studies.

I used to read books while eating as a student and sometimes now I still read, but most time I read from my mobile phone for news or sit next to my laptop. It is a habit of mine. I agree with your mother that we must concentrate on what we are eating, which is a good eating habit. Take care.

Yes, reading had always been one of my favorite hobby which hard to change. Even until now, sometimes i still read while eating especially when the reading material is of my interest. But, i always limit myself as not to spend too much time into reading until forget to finish my food. Indeed, we should always concentrate on what we are eating. Otherwise, i will get complain from my hubby and son...

I love to read. I will read while eating, watching TV and waiting for the computer to load a page. It drives my husband nuts. I don't see what his problem is. I'm not bothering anybody. He really hates it when we are playing cards and I am beating him while reading a book. I get board and restless if I'm not doing more then one thing.

Even if it is not my habit but I always have my magazine or newspaper beside me when I have my breakfast. Mom dislike me to that too. I think moms said that it is unhealthy because she did not want us to get choke or something like that plus it can makes you eat longer and tend to make you eat more because you don't realized that you have finished your food and still your stomach feel not full yet. While for me reading while having our food is just the same like watching TV with snacks with you. If we can manage and control the food we consume there is nothing to worry about.(^^)

Yes, you are right. I ever gone through this experience so i must agreed with you about it. Those who interested to stay slim and fit need to avoid eating while reading magazine or newspaper, right? Because they don't want the added calories...

Breakfast - Southamerican breakfast.
Yes,I do sometimes read the newspaper while having my breakfast, but it's not as common as my watching the TV or reading emails while doing it. I know it would be better not to do it and have a family talk instead.

Yes, enjoy the eating moment fully with your family is the best option. After all, we should be grateful that we are able to enjoy our meals with our family. There are lots of less fortunate person outside which only enjoy meals by themselves. We should be thankful...

I've always read while I ate. I had issues with keeping food down when I was young. I'd look at the food, and get sick. By reading, I didn't have to look at the food, I could distract myself from it. Even today, I have a hard time looking at food before eating it. Especially if it looks ... bad. Like tomato soup made with milk instead of water. I can't tolerate that, even with a book. The color is too horrid.

Yeah, it is really usual for a student to read their books anywhere, as long there is place to sit. I ever have this kind of situation when it is nearing my exams.

I read something during most meals. Sometimes a book, sometimes the paper and sometimes a magazine. If I don't have a book within arms reach I get nervous. Its my way of establishing personal space.
