So which ones do you do? prefer? I know that the one in the stores are easier to cook and prepare but some still make their own pasta. So which one are you- the maker or the buyer?

I buy and I do make my own. I buy out of convience and I'm still learning different types and ways to make my own. But most make your own pasta is a variation of an eggnoodle anyways & it's alot cheaper to make your own. It's just the time it takes to do it. My kids like helping to make it. And My hubby insists on it if I make certain dishes but if I don't have the time then he'll just have to suffer *LOL* Oh and owning a pasta machine makes things easier than w/o, though mine is not powered like some of the fancy ones on TV it still cost plenty and Santa was good to me the other year and bought me one ;)

You could request Santa for one as early as today. That way, you'll be sure he hears you. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I definitely cook pasta on my own, it's cheaper than you buy take away. The best thing is i can prepare it in my own way and in my own taste.I can make my own sauce and i can always estimate how much i can eat. happy posting.

That's good. At least you know how much you should cook. Nothing should go to waste. With economy tight nowadays, every single morsel counts.

I buy my pasta. My mom always made home made pasta when she made beef and noodles and the pasta is so much better tasting homemade but I just don't have the time to make it from scratch it is so much easier to just buy it from the store and then cook it then to have to make it and then cook it.

Time is the main factor on this one. If you have the time, then go for home-made pasta. If none, then store-bought pasta would be for you.

I buy my pasta, since it would be a disaster for me to make my own pasta. I don't dare to try. xD Since I've never tried home-made paste, I prefer the store-bought ones, but I can imagine some tasty home-made pastas.

I've actually watched a cooking show that shows how to make your own pasta. It seems easy but I never do try. Just like you, I believe it would be a disaster as well.

I am definately a buyer. As a mother of 8 kids I have never had time or the energy to make my own pasta. I also have never learned to make it. It is just so easy to walk into the store pick out what you want and buy it then come home and put it in boiling water. The easy way is the way I do it.

Yes, I agree it is the easy way. Why go the hard way, right?

I like to make my own pasta because I don't like the one in the markets, the flavor is really strong and lots of MSG. I would rather make my own and choose my favourite ingridients. :-)

I like both, and do both. I like to make my own because I love the taste of homemade, it takes more time but it's well worth it when you finally get to eat them. The store bought is quicker and easier for those nights I am in a rush and need dinner done now.

It depends, when i don't have much time preparing the noodles i like, i would prefer to use the ready made pack which is only boil water, put the pack and the seasonings and there you go, a ready made spaghetti. But i would still prefer the taste of what i cook and prepare in the kitchen. I would simple buy pasta then boil water and put the pasta in and wait for only 12-18 minutes , if you think that the pasta is still hard then add more two minutes to it. Now put on the colander the pasta and wash it off with cold water to flush out the floury taste of it. Then if you have a ready made sauce in a can, then boil it up and grate cheese and place it on top.
