This just seemed odd to me. Most of you know I am on disability. Now being on SSI, I can't just go to any doctor or any clinic. And let's just say there are big differences in places I use to be seen by a doctor, and the places I have to go now.
For instance, three weeks ago I walked into the building of my doctor, and there was a purple flyer tacked on a bulletin board. What did the flyer say? 20 Dollars for 20 Minutes : Come have an anonymous AIDS test and it will only take 20 minutes to get the results, for only 20 dollars!
Now don't get me wrong, these tests are important, especially for those who may have dabbled in drugs and had many sleeping partners. But before SSI, every doctor office I had ever gone to had not been that crass and coarse. They didn't do it that way. I just rolled my eyes when I saw that. I think they underestimate poor people. We do have class, ya know.

This is a big problem in our world...or is it just our country? I don't know. There are so many people trying to rip off SSI, disability and welfare. The ones most people know who do these things are lazy and there are so many of them. After a while, the doctors can pick them out easily, but still the system passes them through. Society=doctors, pharmacists, individuals become desensitized to the needs of those receiving some kind of aid from the gov't. It's unfair and it is sad. Amber, you are one of the classiest people I know...SSI or no SSI...makes no difference to me.

I hate to say I am laughing, but it is so cheap, and yet, it does not surprise me. We are living in a brave new world.

Sadly, there is almost an acceptance of this type of crude behavior. I think I would have rolled my eyes too! That is crass and coarse which you should not expect from any medical facilty. Times have changed and alot of it , has not been for the good. @newzealtralian (3930)

Maybe they are so overloaded with patients already that they thought they would scare some of them way. Maybe they have new nurses that need to learn how to take blood and thought if someone saw the notice, the nurses would have their guinea pigs.
Seriously though, everything these days is just about the money. Business don't seem to be interested in keeping long term customers, clients or patients, it is all about the money they can have in their pockets NOW.

My good friend is on disability for her panic/anxiety that is so bad. The stories that she tells me about the doctors and the whole system, and I have been to court with her a few times over it, are mind-boggling. Too much red tape, too many uncaring or inept people in the system.
