Have you ever heard a song for the first time and wanted to listen to it over and over again for a bit? Like there is just something about it that does something to you. If this happens to you, is it the words you are usually responding to? The music alone? What is it about music that does something to you? Got a song to share with us? A youtube link?

Hello makingpots, I love the beats too most music tracks because I tend to pick up the lyrics later after the song is old LOL.

I have always been a very heavy sleeper. For some reason Madonnas song from the movie Dlck Tracy, "Hanky Panky", always woke me up and that's how my kids would wake me up. Here's a link to one of the many live versions from her concerts of this song. Enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMzbyY49P_0&feature=related HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Several songs have done this to me, but the first one I can think of off the top of my head is "Calculation Theme" by Metric. The first time I heard it, I got shivers down my back, and I sat very still until it was over. I heard it on the radio, and I wanted to be sure I heard the radio announcer say what the song was called and who it was by after the song was over! I was blown away by the whole thing - it is a very different song. There is not much music in it, and it is sung by the wonderful Emily Haines. It still sends a chill down my back whenever I hear it. :)

I forgot to post a link to YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVAld94M544 That is the video for Calculation Theme. I don't like the video itself, so I recommend loading up the page, then just closing your eyes and listening to the song. :)

Hi makingpots! I think both the words and the music makes me respond to it. usually what touches me are spiritual songs and the words plus the music really moves me deep within my heart. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

Hi Pots Hope u must be doing well sure its nice discussion, and i do admit that their are songs that i liked very much and want to listen again and again. Usually i am not much in to lyrics, but the songs i liked are based on their Lyric, their music, their composition and sure the Voice of singer and the way of singer they pronouce the words and bring emotion into it. so u can say its whole package. Coz i have heard same song in voice of other singers but trust me they are not that attractive then. Hope you understand, i am afraid i dont have youtube link yet, but i will find and try to share few. Take care

Did you know that you can actually wear out a CD? I did. My Buddy Holly Greatest Hits CD. I was sooooooooooooo pissed when it started missing and sounding like an old 45! LOL It took me forever to find another one, and I'm much more careful with this one. No utube link though. Sorry.

yes it happens, most of the time, it is the chorus that I remember about the song and I sing it over and over again in the house. I don't have any music anymore, I stopped by it years ago. So all the songs are in my mind.

With me it is always the music that grabs me very seldom do the words mean anything. Not since my teenage days have I really listened or got any meaning from the lyrics.

Yes, that happens to me all the time ^^ Whenever I hear a song that I really like I have to listen to it several times until I find another one :) I don't know what attracts me, I just feel it. There's something in the rhythm most of the times that attracts me. Only after I hear the lyrics. It may be the other way around only if I don't like the song... But usually the type of songs that stand out for me have great lyrics as well. After hearing it the first time, I then listen to it more carefuly and connect with the lyrics, that's the most important part. Don't you find it strange how some songs sometimes have lyrics that feel like they're describing your own life and thoughts? It's hard to find one that fits exactly, but when you do that's so astonishing o_o The latest one I've been listening to all the time is "So Contagious" by Acceptance. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIii_QRoPo4 Also I like to listen to movie soundtracks (anime mostly...). They mean a lot to me, and I can connect with those lyrics more than with any other songs. Here's a link to a song that describes exactly how I'm feeling all the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u2zNQiM5Lc It might not mean anything to you if you don't like Naruto... But it's an ending from that show that means a lot to me.

Hi, moonlight_dream. Thanks for a nice response. I do find it strange how some songs sometimes have lyrics that feel like they're describing your own life and thoughts? I think some songwriters just have a nack for making people relate to thier songs much as an author causes us to relate to characters. It is a talent for sure. Thanks for including the links here. I don't know anything about Naruto, myself.

Hi pots! Yes! There are many songs that make me feel that way! There is one in particular now that makes me want to listen to it over and over and has for awhile now! I heard on tv on some music show months ago and couldn't wait for it to come out! I got the CD as soon as it hit the stores. It is by Ne-Yo! It is called Year of the Gentleman and the song is called "Closer"! I can never get the song out of my head! I just love it! I happen to be a big Ne-Yo fan! He is cute, sexy and a great singer! Check him out! See what you think!

I've experienced that many times. It's usually the beat that does it for me but at times, the lyrics would catch my attention and I would repeat it over and over again until I can almost memorize the song. I just love music. The last song that I repeated over and over again when I first heard it was the Jai Ho remix sung by Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls. You should try listening to that.

Another mylot member shared a song with me some time ago and I listened to it over and over again for days! It was both the lyrics and the tune itself that captured my attention and I found it to be a very poignant song. Actually, this just happened to me as I was driving to church this Sunday (it's an 80-mile drive). It's a brand new song by a band called Third Day who I don't particularly listen to. These lyrics really grabbed me though. It was probably because I seemed to be living what they were singing about. Then the chorus really gave me a few goose bumps. They were live on the late late show. I put it on our magazine blog if you're interested. http://www.thegatewebzine.org .

Yes, many songs. One, in particular, was "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban. I fell in love with it but now I have a hard time listening to it. If you ever lost a loved one, it can be hard to hear. Here it is, if you wish to hear it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uIQp9Dqcrw Oh, here are the lyrics... To Where You Are - Music by Richard Marx, Lyrics by Linda Thompson Who can say for certain Maybe you're still here I feel you all around me Your memories so clear Deep in the stillness I can hear you speak Your still an inspiration Can it be That you are my Forever love And you are watching over me from up above Fly me up to where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile To know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are Are you gently sleeping Here inside my dream And isn't faith believing All power can't be seen As my heart holds you Just one beat away I cherish all you gave me Everyday Cause you are my Forever love Watching me from up above And I believe That angels breathe And that love will live on and never leave Fly me up to where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile To know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are I know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are

I have to say, I've grown fond of you through myLot, nanajanet and hearing this song moved me beyond words. I had to walk away from this discussion for a day. But thinking about it reminded me what I have grown to admire in you and that is the strength of your character and how you have risen above this in your life. I've said it before, but I'm honored to know you. Thanks for reminding me of this beautiful song.

It depends on my mood as to whether it is the music or the lyrics that touch me. Right now, one that I listen to over and over is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0Dlwz6XIYk And it's the words and music together. I listen to this on my music player on the computer, so it sounds better than the one on youtube.
