My First Mistake of the Day............

Get the picture? - Agatha Christie's tombstone. Thanks to P1ke.

My Second mistake of the day was starting my car. It blew up. Pieces of metal, glass, foam, leather, rubber and steel littered the neighbourhood. They never did find all the bones and only recovered two pints of blood and my glass eye found embedded in an oak tree three blocks down..... For months after wards, small children were still cutting their tender feet and hands on shards of shiny glass they were silly enough to step on or dig out of the earth. There was an investigation of course, but being in the business I was in, there was no trail to follow. Kind of like "in five minutes this tape will self destruct", if you get my drift. There's a new tenant in the nondescript little house I splattered with my brains that day, but they've repainted the front ediface. The man who lives there now is in the same business I was. Obviously the house is owned by some secret sect of the 'governement'. Here he comes now; grey suit, black shoes and briefcase, well worn fedora, forgettable features. I sure hope his First Mistake of the day wasn't getting out of bed................... What was your first mistake of the day?

Hi sparky, I was not the one that made the first mistake this morning, it was the postman, he bang on my front door, thought the dorr was going to come off the hinges it was so loud and he he woke me up, so I set the cats on him because he woke me up, the cats scratched on his coat beccause he woke me up, the got hold of his hat and tore it to shreds because he woke me up and I saw him running down the road because he woke me up. I get very angry when I am woken up with a loud bang. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxx

Hi sparky, He bang so loud it was enough to wake the neighbourhood, so that was his first and the last mistake, but I don't think I mind if you wake me up gently. Love and hugs. Tamara xxxxx

Hmmm, don't think I've made a mistake yet today, oddly enough. It's been a really nice morning so far. And reading this was icing on the morning's cake, darling. Your brain!!! Geez, honey, you've got some crazy stuff in there! But great stuff, really great stuff! You continue to blow me away. And wait till you see p1key's response! He too consistently and constantly amazes me with his creativity and skill in writing. Oh, and TLChimes' response is terrific. The people here must be a rather exclusive "Lot" because the things I read here delight and fill me with wonder. Geez.

You're welcome, TL! I really did enjoy it so much and whatever poetic license you took with it only made it a better story, kiddo. Truly, I am so amazed by the creativity I see here on this site from so very many people. That's why I stay. I just love it. Plain and simply put, I just love it. Oh, and Jeffala? LOL honey, I know what you mean. And that's precisely why I choose it as my avatar. Ya gotta love it, huh? Nice to meet you, btw, darlin, and keep typing, always keep typing. We have the best people here, I swear it!!!

Thanks!!!! Wow. Really, Thanks. It was only part fiction. I was writing it while waiting for the bus and my little almost 5 year old was in rare form... monster is a polite term. So I took some creative licence when re-telling it to you folks. Glad you liked it!

As I reread your problematic explosion - of course "problematic" may be just a little bit off the mark here considering what happened - I cannot help but think how fortunate I am that my only mistake today caused me to horizontally pluck an extra 27 hairs out of my left eyebrow...yep - I zigged when I should have zagged. I knew I shouldn't have cleaned the tweezers with goose-grease...anyway, now it looks like I'm really intense and seriously pondering the words of everyone I meet...my right eyebrow seemingly raised by the illusion created against a much lower left one. Today, people say, "hi," and I turn to face them with a look that says, "really...I find what you say intriguing...please tell me more." And that's when my mail girl looked at me like I grew a purple horn before her horrified eyes and she sped off without another word. Maybe I'm just too intense for the common-folk. I considered matching the "cut" with my right eyebrow but then I'd have to explain why I was so tired...nah - I think I'll just leave it alone. Maybe I'll audition for a soap opera...or give a speech to a roomful of university students on the pros and cons of nuclear fusion. Or maybe I'll just go back to bed. Either way, at least my body is still intact. Now go pull yourself together, Sparky - you have the whole day ahead of you!

jeffela, my sister plucked my uni-brow for my high school graduation. I now have two brows, but they are very blond and very thin and without artful penciling in with a Maybelline #2, I'd have no brows at all! LOL She plucked them from the top and they never grew back. ROFL As for putting myself back together, I do believe some pieces ended up south of the border so if you find any, send them home will ya? LOL

Aside from also getting out of bed myself? I guess my mistake today was in thinking that people around me would fulfil their obligations as already defined and agreed. Such are the joys of a large and archaic organization with historically bad habits! lol. I am happy to see that you not only spread joy throughout your neighbourhood, but YOURSELF as well! Just think, each and every child now has a painful reminder of your event lodged firmly in their feet!

Of course it was. Hiring his neighbour to clean for him just had to be bad news. They didn't normally allow that kind of thing; but he was far from the city now. The cleaner had clearly picked up some glass as she pottered round the town. In a conclusive demonstration of her skills, his bedroom rug was now a mini minefield impregnated with tiny pieces of glass deposited by her outdoor shoes. He hobbled to the bathroom and sat himself on the toilet. Hooking one leg over the other he examined the bottom of his foot. Not a pretty sight. Along with the miniscule implants of windscreen, the not quite cleared remnants of his Athletes Foot infection rendered his foot a pale, pasty plain of soft, slightly damp pustulant pain. Tweezers in hand, he started the clearance process. The shadow that fell across his ground floor bathroom window went unnoticed. As did the slight throat clearing and the sound of index finger pulling back on the trigger...............

My first mistake of the day was waking the child. She looked so sweet and darling. Her smiled could melt ice caps. Things were going well until I reminded the darling that it was a school day. She nicely reminded me that she had a belly ache. I reminded her that once she drank her milk she would be better. The sound of her scream broke windows in five towns. I calmly told her I would come back in five minutes to help her dress. Her tears flooded the whole back of the house. I calmly dressed her after cleaning up enough glass to re-window five houses. The scratches she left would need stitches. I set her on the steps where we read a book and watched the sun come up. I ignored the daggers that flew out of her eyes and landed in the poor tree that sat in out front yard. She shot fire from those same chocolate eyes when I stood her up and pulled on her hood. I reminded her that the bus driver was her friend and she should save her energies for school. I really bought her mumbled, "Yes mom" With bushes burning and daggers flying I pulled her down the walk and to the bus. I watched it drive off with a sigh of relief. I put out the flames to save as much as I could of my yard. Put the daggers out of other kids reach. The box I store them in was needing to be dumped. I through out the glass and made sure there wasn't more. I walked down the hall and made the second mistake of the day. He is such a cute boy with eyes that want you to pick him up and love on him. Then I woke him up to start the day.

Oh grief! Where do I begin. Today hasn't been too great at all, but I didn't blow any cars up because I don't drive. Ha ha ha! I might have blown a gasket when the landlord of the pub told me fifty five minutes before tonight's dart game that the other team had phoned him five days earlier saying they were sick and couldn't make the match tonight. I'd rushed around getting ready, after I got rid of the kitchen fitter... then the phone rang. No time to let anybody know so I just had to go down and tell them that they only had practice. Grrrrrrr That's all I can, or want to remember about today, my friend. Brightest Blessings.

Strange as it may seem, I didn't really want to go out tonight. I don't know why because I only go to the pub on darts nights now. I had to go though, to let everybody know the game was off and the landlord was doing food. I'm secretary and captain of the darts team, and the league, my friend, so there was no escape really. Now, I've got a charity thing to arrange for my troubles! lol.

Hi sparks, I always read your discussions hanging on each and every word and so often...I don't get it. you are pretty deep as far as i'm concerned. I'm yellow haired ...remember? Anyway my first mistake of this day? hmmm... actually today was pretty good. If I made any mistakes they were not made clear to me...didn't affect my day and I'm seeing as I type that we now have spellcheck here...so I'm seeing tons of mistakes for the first time. when did that happen? it doesn't check punctuation and does'nt check for capitals at beginning of sentences...good thing.. so ya, answering your thread...i'm seeing lots of mistakes when I thought I maybe went thru a mistake-free day. mistakes are good...right? thats how we learn ...right?...oh my gd..the more I write the more little red lines I'm encountering...outta here....it did not correct outta so be assured...that's a word! even spell check errs.

Mine was pretty ordinary, I went to Yoga class when I didn't really feel like it. Our regular teacher was out sick and we got the lady from hell there to challenge us for an hour. On top of the pain and inability to do what she asked, It made me aware of how really bad shape I'm in ruined my whole day, if I let it but I won't on the way to the grocery store i stopped at the Ice cream place and got a double chocolate mint cone. Now all is right with the world an who says old ladies need to be able to put their foot behind their head anyway, it just makes you look silly. Enjoy that picture

My first mistake of the day was just before I went to bed at 5am. So the mistake you ask.....was spending 20 minutes trying to find the last cat so I could go to sleep. I was distraut to say the least. Precious is a small black sort of smokie girl. Well as a last thought I went to the cage and opened it to pet her cage mate Smookie, and another little head gave me a love. Yup it was Precious and somehow she had jumped into the cage while I was getting Smookie. I got to bed a half hour later than I would have and it was late enough....Yikes..................
