Shadow People/Shadow Folk

I've gone through the postings and didn't see this topic as of yet, but if I missed I do apologize up front for any redundancy. Several years ago I first heard the term Shadow People/Shadow Folk when speaking with another friend in the occult world. I was fascinated because they are briefly mentioned by Dion Fortune. I know that Jung often spoke of the "shadow self", as well.
Today, in a conversation with my husband, we got to speaking about how there is a new thought that time is not linear but convuluted possibly crossing over various parts. So that what we think we're seeing as ghosts may very well be people in their present moment.
I'm wondering if Shadow People/Shadow Folk might not also fit this line of thinking. That perhaps the reason they seem to come and go is because of some sort of fluctuation in the way time is set up.
Does anyone have any experience with Shadow People/Shadow Folk? I know that at times I've caught things out of the corner of my eye, but I've never actually witnessed anything that I'd say was "full figure". In the apartment we now occupy I've seen what moves across the floor like a black cat or black rat. We own a cat so I am always telling myself it's her, but I've seen it at times when the cat is sitting next to me on the chair. Any thoughts?

There is no concept of Shadow People in my society but many believe in the existence of the 'bunian'. These are supposedly people like us but they live in a different dimension. They have one big advantage where they are capable of appearing and disappearing in our dimension. It was said that they used to mingle with ordinary human beings but nobody realised it. I have never met any of them in this world but many people have seen their villages and towns and met these people. Being in a different dimension means their abodes may be in our gardens.

Wow, that's fascinating. I love to learn what others believe, and this is something I've not heard of before. So, do they believe they do harm or that they are just there? Do they have a purpose? Are they worshipped as ancestors?

The naughty ones do create mischief. Most of the time thereare there in their own dimension.
They are not worshipped as ancestors. In fact they themselves subscribe to different religions including Islam and Christianity.
Several humans have been helped by them to become healers.

I have written an article about Shadow people. It's on my blog. I don't think I am allowed to put the link here. I have links to some videos in the article, unfortunately a couple have been removed but there is one touring Waverly Hills that is still there.
It's a fascinating subject especially the Waverly Hills Asylum. I would love to visit there one day!

Well, it is usually ghost for me. They can be dark or light, depends on what happened to that ghost in their prior life.

I was on my computer and I saw a figure walking toward the middle of my living room. It was masculine with a shirt on, a collared shirt.

I didn't want to steal a line from a movie, but the best description I heard about time travel was in Kate & Leopold when the one man (can't think of his name off hand) tells Kate that time is a pretzal. I like thinking of it like that. Though, I've also heard that there is great research being done in the field of time travel, and one of the leading scientists is the great grandson of HG Wells. So, we have a lot to thank Sci-Fi for in our day and times. Thanks for responding. Anora

hmmm my husband was able to relate one time about this shadow people/person.he was walking on the way home and he was able to see that there beside him are 2 shadows..lol and no one was beside him and it was night..and when he stopped, his shadow of course stopped but the other one wasn't..for me it sounded funny but well, for him it wasn't, he just walked faster till he reached home!!

Hello Anora! Seriously, as I was reading this topic I was still in two minds, should or should not I respond to this. First of all it must be admitted that you have put up the topic very absorbingly and straight.
Well, the occult, black art and the shadow - all lead to the unearthly things which is still a matter that has not found a finality. Now I can see this is there in every culture and community and among people of all walks of life. Even the highly educates folks are not free from this shadowy world. I do not feel hesitant to reveal myself that I too have not succeeded outgrowing this. And if I am left all alone and none is around it feels eerie sort of I feel discomfort. Is it my fear of the shadow or does it really exist and captures the conscious or sub conscious mind in its weakest moment?
My father says there is that. He claims to have seen himself at night when he would be back home after his duty was over. And he knows how o deal with them. I am confused and not optimistic that it would be all done with and I am the solid self to defy the unseen and the shadow.

Thank you for sharing so openly. I know that for myself I have more questions then answers about any of it. I'm not sure if we'll ever answer them all. Perhaps part of life is to see beyond the shadows? I'm just not sure. And I agree, we have to ask ourselves what the reality is, but that takes on an even deeper look at is the world we live in real or imagined?

Oh sure... they aren't uncommon for me to see.
I'm 17 years old and I've been seeing shadow people/shadow folk since I was about 10. They scare me, knowing that they aren't exactly nice spirits or souls...
My father once wanted to get me an excorsism because he never believed me and thought that "the devil was corrupting me". To be quite honest, I don't think I was ever possessed with any form of shadow folk... but there are some in my house almost all the time... It's very scary, and sometimes I think I'm a little crazy... but I'm sure in time I'll know what these people want, and why they won't leave me alone...
A few weeks ago I was walking down my hallway to wake up mom to stay up with me to wait for the bus, she gets up around 6-7am, so I thought, wake her up, I wont be alone and bored... so I'm walking to her room, and I feel something that isn't quite right. I look behind me, just out of spite I guess, and there I see a lingering shadow... the moment I saw it I jumped...and it was gone. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, so I just continued to my mother's room. In seconds I felt a strange thrust, and it was very cold... the thrust knocked me down and, to be honest, since then, I haven't felt like myself...

I'm very interested in the occult and pretty much love to talk about anything related to the unknown because it gives me hope and helps me too push on. Exploring the limits that have been set on human beings is a for sure hobby of mine and I think that it should be a common hobby for all human beings. This topic sounds very interesting and I haven't actually seen Shadow People outside of my dreams but I have felt their presence in normal day life. You just know when there is another force or entity in your presence it's a weird but also sometimes invigorating feeling.

Watch the show Ghosthungers if you don't already. They have caught some really interesting footage. I have also heard of the shadow people. Not sure exactly how it works but my humble theory, which is not based on science so I might be way off, is that our world is where the good (heaven) and bad (hell) spirit worlds meets. At this point where the two meet is the material world. This material world is held down by time. Thus the ghosts people see are somehow the spirits manifesting in the material world. That's why when something in this world is unresolved, it seems ghosts, or the spirit wanders around and does not go fully to heaven or hell.

Oh, I adore Ghosthunters. My husband and I are huge fans. We'd like to start doing some ghosthunting ourselves. We've a local TAPS chapter down south but they only cover southern MN, so my husband and I one day would like to cover the Twin Cities, and Northern MN. Just trying to get our equipment together. So far we've a digital recorder and EVP pc equipment. Anyhow, that's not really on topic lol. I think you have another interesting theory. I'm finding that there are many beliefs on this depending upon where you are from. So, what you're getting at is more like the concept that a ghost only stays if it needs help with something? That sort of makes sense too. I know on Ghosthunter's they've spoken about that before.
