Does anyone use a pressure cooker? I LOVE my pressure cooker. When I first got it I used it just as an easy way to cook beans. But, I have discovered that you can make whole meals with it. I have a Pressure Cooking cookbook caled 'Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure' that I love. I use an electric pressure cooker, because I like that you do not have to watch it, like you would a stove top one. I love it because all you have to do is put everything in, push a button and leave till it beeps. Do you use a pressure cooker? Do you have a favorite meal or food to cook in it?

I have a pressure cooker that I have had for many years. I usually forget that I even have it. I usually use it for meat that might be a little tough. My grandson used it yesterday to precook some ribs. I use my slow cooker much more. I can cook complete meals in it and don't have to watch it as closely. I didn't know that they even made and electric pressure cooker. I will have to look into that.

Onedaysoon like I said I didn't know that they made electric pressure cookers. I got mine way back in the 80s. If it is what your use to then it really doesn't bother you so much. The only thing electric that I cook with is my stove and crock pot.

I, am like you...deebomb, my Pressure Cooker is tucked away..until canning season, then it is put into good use, but I do remember it was much more a staple in my home, and used very often...as you say for tough cuts of meat, etc.

I don't think I would ever use my pressure cooker if it was not electric. I don't like things I have to watch or monitor. I am good at forgetting, which could be dangerous. The electric one you just push a couple buttons and then wait for it to beep, to tell you it is done. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Yes. We are using Pressure Cooker for ages. We use both electric and stove-top. But we prefer the stove-top, since the electric cooker forms some kind of dry layer at the bottom. In our country, there is a mini version of stove-top pressure cooker, which can be used as frying pan also, without lid. When the lid is on, it becomes a pressure cooker. We call it 'pressure pan'. We mostly cook rice with out cooker. Occasionally we cook vegetables with it. And to prevent the bottom of the stove-top cooker becoming burnt, we put a tiny piece of lemon or lemon peel into the outer container when cooking. Otherwise the bottom will look dark.

You have the best of both worlds using both kinds. I have never had a problem with a dry layer at the bottom of my electric one. I wonder what would cause that on yours. I love cooking rice in mine too. It make it so easy. Thanks for taking the time to respond :o)! Happy Pressure Cooking!
