Hello guys, maybe were not aware if we're already over weight, under weight or at our ideal weight based on our height and recent weight. Over weight or obesity and under weight are few of the reasons of our illness, worst are some complications that we're wondering where did we get those illness. The most high risk is over weight or obesity. Check your Body Mass Index NOW! While it would be too late... Here's the link guys: www.consumer.gov/weightloss/bmi.htm Me? a little heavier than my standard weight HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS?!

I don't like online BMI's because they aren't very accurate. They are at best a guesstimate. The best and most accurate screening goes beyond even the skinfold. It is a machine that can scan you and through thermal imaging show you where your fat deposits are. Not all fat is bad, and you do need some amount of fat on your body to survive. However, even with excess fat there are other considerations to being "healthy". There is blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugars, etc. I would say that the best medicine is wholistic. Find out the physical, but go beyond this. Address the mental and spiritual as well. Namaste-Anora

I understand what you mean, because you are familiar with it. That's good but since we don't know that, I guess, we would just adapt our common and easy way of monitoring our body weight..thanks friend..

If you can't get to a doctor who has such equipment, then I would use an indepth skin fold test. This will help one account for muscle mass. For example, if I just gave you my weight and height for your online measure it would say I was morbidly obese. (I know, because I've done them). However, if you took my skinfold test you'd find that I am on target, save the skin that most likely will need to be removed surgically from having 6 children. I have an incredible amount of muscle one me because my body type-mesomorph tends to be the type that if I exercise I put on muscle very quickly-so running around lifting children all day keeps increasing my muscle mass. My exercise routines have to focus on toning and flexibility. So I do belly dancing, yoga, and study martial arts. Namaste-Anora

Hi! I am at my ideal weight. I always check my weight on the scale every morning and I often check my BMI. I know that the BMI is not an ideal determiner of whether there is a need to lose some weight or not. But if a person turns out as obese in terms of BMI, then there is much concern. What I do is I also measure my inches too because scale weight and BMI do not always jive with the fat inches. Sometimes we just lose water so on the weighing scale we are light; or we are heavy after gaining muscle mass, but we actually look slimmer and fit. So, it is important to also consider other factors as well, like getting medical check-ups for cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. Happy myLotting!

Yes you're right BMI is not an assurance. Maybe it would just be a guide, but I still believe on an actual check up on our physician....I believe in your statement thank you very much...

Meh, I don't take much stock in BMI's. I'm average weight for my height, though, apparently, according to that one.

It's not work, for me. I have make every bit of food I get stretch, I naturally prefer healthier foods, and I'm something of a workaholic...I have more of a worry of ever becoming undeweight, than overweight. IMO, People should focus on HEALTH rather than their weight...or BMI.

I don't worry too much about my weight because I think I weigh just about right. It did bother me before because I was a tad overweight. Thanks to physical work, I no longer worry about my weight at all. Cheers!!

This is weird as a human, but sometimes, I'm not so attracted to food... many of them disgust me. And I do do some fitness too but I need more food for the energy.

I am overweight mob. I am always calculating my BMI like weekly.I have my own way of knowing my BMI. With my weight, height and age, I am overweight. That's why I told you I needed to control my rice because I'm going obese if I wont. My BMI is 26, but my target should be about 20 to 25. So that means, I'm really overweight and needs to do something. I don't want my BMI to become 30 because that will mean obesity. Sometimes, it scares me.

Yes you're right joyce. I think one solution of that is minimize your intake of carbohydrates and sweets. Have a regular exercise walk 30mins a day would just be enough, Never sleep after your exercise session. I was an over weight before but I did managed to lower it down to the standard. Now I started to bloat again so I have to exert more physical exercise again to go back down. What I did most before to lower my weight was to had only a cup of rice each heavy meal because ever since I am not after of sweets and sodas...So I hope you could cut your weight down to your standard, just be aggressive and determine to get it...Good luck joyce

They said that is would be easier to get big than reducing...but still if you want to get big ( not to be fatty ) you have to enroll some fitness program.. never aim to be big and fatty but big and healthy...Good luck

You mean, even though you have normal weight you have still to lose? It means you will be going to under weight already?

I'm morbid obese and I checked my BMI recently. For my age and height my ideal weight wold be 120lbs! That isn't right! I can't even remember when I weighed that! If I would try to get to 120 I'd have to lose over 150 lbs! That is nuts! I have had a weight problem all my life! At times I wish I was smaller! The only health problem I have is my cholestral is a lttle high. Being my size can have its up and downs! I do get winded at times walkin and the same with going up stairs. Until I'm really ready to lose weight I'll continue be heavy.
