Why so much hate from people about Kristen Stewart (as Bella in Twilight)?

I have seen a lot of comments on youtube lately from people about this. She seems perfect for the role so I don't really understand the attitude. Granted I have not seen the movie yet but I have seen plenty of clips/trailers and my idea from the book is spot on. Do you think she was cast correctly? I do.

What I think is she's too fair for the role. I mean there should a be a great distinction between Bella(as a human) and Edward colorwise. Edward is pale alright, but Bella should look a little out of place with him. This doesn't happen. She fits the role though...Just her appearance

I may have been biased because the cover of my Twilight book does seem to have the characters on it - although when looking through the actual cast list I'm a little surprised. Bella is spot on, but Carlisle doesn't seem to be - in the book I considered that he looked very similar to both Edward and Emmett.

I've been giving in to my cravings and searching on youtube. There are many many fan-made clips and videos related to Twilight and the whole series, lots of them made with clips of other actors. I'm wondering if maybe I just saw a bad photo of Peter Facinelli, the main photo on imdb makes him look like he's basically... chalky white with short dark hair. My view of him from the book was that he had reddish gold longer hair... not long long, basically like both Jasper and Edward. I attached a photo, might not be the best one but you'll get an idea.

i think carlisle was spot on. I mean he looked very similar to Edward which was good how ever emmett didn't but i didn't think he would he seemed very beefy in the books and was beefy in the movie as well

I thought she was cast very well. I think she fit in as Bella perfectly. Albeit, I haven't seen the comments you're talking about, so maybe people have seen more than me (I've only seen the movie once) but upon first impression, I believe she was cast perfectly

Nice to hear! Most of the comments I have seen are on youtube or at Twilight forums, there is a HUGE following of fans all over the place. Of course I'm sure the majority of complaints come from people much younger than me (the teens the movie was aimed at) so I am trying to take it with a grain of salt since kids that age are naturally that way towards each other.

LOL! I hope you didn't take that wrong, it's just that some of the fans are almost crazy-stalkerish in their worship of Twilight, and those are the people who make the strangest comments.

Well I'm 15, and you hear no complaints from me

LOL! Who would you cast as Bella? Out of curiosity? I watched a fan-made cast idea vid a few minutes ago, I liked the author's idea of Kate Beckinsale as Esme and of course her nod toward Charlie Hunnam (as Carlisle). Wasn't too keen on her choice of Bella, and I've also seen a lot of nods toward Gaspard Ulliel (?) for Edward and Steven Strait for Jacob. Steven is actually a good pick, what a cutie lol. I know there are people who would scream blashemy at me for nodding toward anybody but Taylor Lautner but come on, there can be more than one 'good choice' from my point of view.

I'm happy with Edward, maybe I'll find a better Carlisle while browsing lol.

I would agree on steven but the other two wouldn't work at all they just don't have the right look the one she picked for Carlisle is way to young to play him and the one that would play edward isn't cute enough in my opinion. Hmm

To be honest I have not seen the movie yet. It's not yet available in my local cd rental store. I'm waiting for it to arrive. Based on the thriller I've seen on the tv, Kristen is perfectly suited to her role as Bella in Twilight.

The release date is the 21st, I went to see it in the theater before it left my second-run theater. I have the big one attached to the mall and the other one across the 15 - this is the one where movies show up after they've been out for awhile. I like it because I can go to a matinee show and it's like three bucks

I think Kristen Stewart cast perfectly for the role of Bella Swan in Twilight. She is sweet, demure, pretty and alluring. Well, she could have given a wonderful lines to show her talent more. Maybe in New Moon, her role will be given more emphasis.

I am looking forward to New Moon... although I know it'll still be hard to fit all the authenticity of the book into a screenplay lol.

unlike all your other responders i do have a problem with kristen stewart. I read the books and became engrossed in them and may be that is problem partially. I actually went and watched the movie first and then read the books after reading the books it just didn't seem to me anyways that Kristen read the books her self. She was portrayed in the books as being this major clutz how ever in the movie she portrayed the character with more of a stutter than being a clutz. Now don't get me wrong i do think she is perfect looks wise and if they had gotten anyone else they wouldn't have looked the part at all but i just think they either need better writing for the script and she needs to read the books to fully understand Bella especially since she changes through out the series.

Ahhh... constructive critcism. I LIKE this, because remember, I have only read the books. I MIGHT be able to go see the movie soon, it's just taking more time to figure out a few hours where I don't have a child with me. I DID think that the books would be required reading, I mean any movie based even loosely on a BOOK should be something known well by the characters/actors, right? I hear how some actors immerse themselves in a character role by getting into things the character does or loves - so they appear more believable. I would do it myself if I were preparing for something that would be scrutinized by SO MANY FANS, yikes! Well, I will miss the clutziness, I thought that was a particularly endearing trait about her, and of course part of the reason Edward is so protective - since he worries that if HE doesn't accidentally kill her, that general life will lol.

The books are so good, I've no idea WHY the cast wouldn't have read them to prepare lol. Hello, I'm going to be in a movie based on a bestseller that people have been crazy for and clamoring over for a year... but nah, I'm not going to READ the book. Are you kidding me? Some fans will just love it on principle because they love the idea, but there are bound to be the nitpickers who look at everything with a fine tooth comb. The better they can follow the story, the less whining there will be. Entertainment is such a hard field to be in because everybody is a critic, even your friends lol.

lol yeah the clutziness just wasn't there. Now may be when new moon is out that will be different but who knows im hoping that she has taken (that they all) the time to read the book series but we will see

I think she fit the part of Bella also..I saw her on David Lettermen show awhile back and she seemed more of a stoner in real life so that could explain her slow talking affect..lol..

LOL! I did a search because I was going to look up some other movies she's been in and got a hit about a story saying she flaunted the fact that she smoked pot. Interesting! I don't care, it was just kind of funny.

I like the character Bella in twilight, as per Kristen Stewards portraying the role, and after I have read the book and watch twilight again, I was also thinking and hope to do more in the movie. It seems that to others she have not given enough or her best on the movie...Hoping that she will improved more in New Moon movie to proved everybody that she really fits for the role.... I like her for the role, no question about that....

Since I haven't seen the movie yet, all I can base my opinion on thus far is that she fits the role physically as cast. From the clips I have seen she carries herself the way I imagine Bella would too. She is somewhat shy, doesn't like attention, but she feels things strongly. She has spent her whole life taking care of Renee and then she goes to be with Charlie and Charlie can't cook worth a damn. Despite the fact that she trips over nothing on flat ground, she seems to spend her whole life taking care of other people or putting their feelings above her own. I don't think I'll be disappointed
