Ok this is a topic I've been thinking about and wondering. I believe I have a bit of an anxiety disorder. My nerves are firing off constantly and I'm just over thinking, over analyzing every move and decision I make. My friend has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when he was in 6th grade so I came to help with to look for some advice. He told me that if my case got to the point where I seriously needed help then I would need to see a psychiatrist. This is the part where I'm kinda scared. I know there is medicine out there to kinda control or keep the thinking down a notch, my question is can they really change you? Like your personality? I can't really imagine myself not thinking constantly. Any incite?

Well for depression, medicines are not solution. Do Meditation, try breathing exercise, it will help you balance and handle anxiety.

Pills can cure your anxiety disorder, but they can't change your personality. They do with sympathetic nerve, it makes us "fight and flight". If keep thinking reaches a degree that it makes a strong impact on your daily life, you should consult your doctor for more information. What we should do it to face it with courage. Good day~ Happy myLotting:))

I have suffered from anxiety my entire life, but I didn't take any medicine against anxiety till a couple of years ago. In 2005 I had a severe depression and I was put on antidepressants. My doctor knew about my anxiety problems, so he chose an antidepressant that was supposed to help me control my anxiety as well as my depression. The medicine is called Mirtazapin and it did help me control my anxiety, it definately didn't remove the anxiety alltogether, but my anxiety became less severe. About a year ago I was put on Truxal, it didn't help me in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks, it started working. I had to take it 4 times a day in order to get any effect, and I quit after a while because I didn't want to take that much medicine day after day, but it really did work. It didn't change my personality, but it made me less anxious, and I was able to do things that I wasn't able to do before.

I have to say that i have an anxiety disorder and they say to only take the medicine when needed. I take it when needed and you are still the same person and it doesnt change you at all. I still think all the time and mostly when im laying down and the medicine helps you relax and stay calm during your anxiety put. It wont change who you are in anyway
