A little deja vu here folks, because my earlier discussion about my name got deleted.
My name is mine. You can love or hate it, but leave it alone. It's not yours and never will be.
The activity of the previous few hours has proven that.
So hit report, get me deleted, but my presence here will never be fully eradicated.
People become attached to their user names. After awhile they suit each other. Friends recognize them right off and it's like a parting of the ways never happened.
We pick up with each other right where we left off.
So if you want to stand out, be heard, be part of this community, get your own name. Don't pirate someone elses. Show some originality. Show some brains!

Yes, I have come to value my username very much. When it went AWOL (Absent Without Owl's Leave, LOL), I was hurt and didn't have the heart to come back as 'Owlwings2' or anything like that. There is only one Owlwings here and that's the way it stays!
They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but the latest imitation didn't fool anyone (and wasn't intending to). Don't worry, anyone who counts here knows there is only one SparkofInsanity (though not a few display wholesomely glowing embers of it).

SPARKS! I didn't realise that you had been 'done'! For heaven's sakes!!!
I wrote a couple of (very nice but quite unequivocal) letters to the Powers that Be, pointing out that I wasn't aware of any offence I had committed and had NOT deleted my own account, so please would they restore it (with benefits).

My user name is too long. I much prefer to be called Cyn. But I am use to people stealing my name.
Back when I was an AOL user I was fortunate enough to snag the screen name Miss Vixen. It didn't take long for AOL's popularity to grow and before I knew it, there were M1ssV1xens, MsVixens, MissV1xens, M1ssVixens, and any number of MissVixens with silly numbers after their names ALL over the place.
It didn't bother me. I was the original and none of the others ever lived up to the name I gave myself :)
The same is true here. We can have users coming with their insanity up to 90210....none of them will ever compare to you darling.

Your name is the most beautiful word in your ear. Don't you know that?
Unless of course you're being called as the guilty one in a court hearing, or unless you're being scolded due to something you may or may have not done. That's when your name is the most horrific word you're ever going to hear.
But most of the time, it's human nature that we like to listen to our names. Specially if the ones calling is that special someone who just makes your heart skip a beat!
Oh yeah! I love hearing my name from the lips of my boyfriend. Specially if he tells me he misses me, coz I do miss him too!

I've never had anyone try to steal my username name. Haha. Most think it is weird. But, I would hate it is someone did. I may have to give mine up too, though because there have been people finding out who I am by my username. I've had this one for about 5 years now! It's going to suck to let it go... and I hope that it never comes to that. I get what you mean. It's like your real life name... people know who you are in the differant communities you associate with and no matter where you go online people will pick you out and know who you are. It's like being webfamous or something. LoL! I wish you luck, with keeping your name.

Thanks. And welcome to the lot. Most people here are pretty good, but like any large site we have trolls that just like to cause trouble. Admin here was right on top of this new trend of identity theft and things are sorted now.

My Username is Gabs8513 as everyone knows I prefer to be called Gabs as all my Friends know and yes I am attached to my Username as it has been mine for 6 years now on the Internet and as Gabs is my Name
Why was the other Discussion deleted I mean are we not aloud to voice what we prefer to be called ?
Have we got any People on here called Trolls because we should have as at least we would know the Cowards behind all this

Sorry its taken so long to get here sparks sweety! I do calue my username, it is part of me - it describes me and if anyone tried to take it away or I had to change it I would probably feel quite bereft! I am so pleased that you didn't lose the use of sparkofinsanity! xxx

I've used my user name ever since I first learned computers about five years ago....Back when I didn't have a computer and was learning then using the library computers, if I needed a user name I wanted something I could easily remember and my black cat Pyewacket gave me the inspiration to use HIS name as my user name....in which I think my cat feels rather smug about..LOL I just can't imagine using anything BUT my pyewacket name...just as that crystal gazing black kitty for my avatar is MY avatar...oh, and I was impersonated one time too, so yup--I value my not only my user name but my avatar..couldn't even imagine being anything else.

Exactly. I have two users name that I use everywhere on the net all the time, and sometimes a blend of the two. It really really irks me that people think they can be me! LOL I have enough trouble being me! ROFL

I view usernames like underwear. It's that personal to me. I would never attempt to wear someone else's? And I wonder about those out there who would. Sorry you had a copycat.

Any kind of name we adopt for ourselves or a nick name someone we care about gives us, becomes a part of us. So yeah, it's not fun to have your name stolen. But I have my account back now and that's what matters.

I used to be very attached to my username

I love my user name. My thoughts are that it exemplifies joy and happiness and giggles. I can't imagine anyone seeing my username or avatar and thinking bad thoughts...you just have to smile back. I'm not wrong am I??/ Go on Sparks...tell me how much ya luv moi!

My name is uniquely mine also. I have seen where someone has been using variations of your name. I have written to admin on your behalf since this has caused a problem for you. I hope that it will help to settle the situation. Imposters can really cause havoc for the original person. It is a good thing we all know you and your particular style of writing. It is also helpful that we have each other's email addresses and can communicate with each other. This helps when the havoc becomes confusing. We can verify and clarify with a few strokes of the keys.

Sweetie, you didn't have to do this. We know it's not your undoing but some troll who's having your discussion deleted for no reason. They have this vendetta against you and want to see you to your end but please, just ignore these low lifes and continue being the person we've come to love!!

i don't bother with creating a good username. as long as i have a username that will be fine. but i see so many usernames that are nice and sounds good. wish to make something as catchy as good as those. but i am happy with mine. i noticed it too that some members have some kind of similar username though not exactly the same. as mine unintentionally has similar username with lovesummer. and mine obviously is hotsummer. i didn't copy it. it just happen that what crossed my mind when i made up my username before. i guess lovesummer created his username ahead of mine. and so there is no one copying username from another member.
