Have you cancelled your newspaper, do you take one?

I thought about saving some money and canceling my newspaper but I truly enjoy reading it in the morning. I know a lot of people are canceling their papers for financial reasons but on the local news the number one reason was delivery problems. I have a very considerate carrier, he doesn't throw the paper but comes up on the porch and puts it right next to the door. When the mail wasn't delivered due to a snowstorm, my paper was still there! Despite good carriers and nice features, people are giving up their newspapers. How about you? Are you cutting costs by canceling your newspaper?

I don't get a regular newspaper, and never have done. All these things I keep hearing about people giving up in order to cut expenditure are all things I've never spent money on in the first place! If you enjoy your daily newspaper, then I think you are absolutely right to keep it. We all need something to enjoy, and you can consider yourself lucky that your pleasure each morning is something reasonably inexpensive!

Guess what? I read in the paper this morning that my garbage company is starting a new program for people like me who use it less. The savings will pay for my newspaper subscription!

I just read my daily news off the internet. Much faster and more environment friendly if you ask me

It is more environmentally friendly, that's true. Your generation didn't grow up with people reading the paper at breakfast and sharing the comics, mine did. It's a tradition with my generation.

Not really, I used to read a lot of comics when I was a kid. I still buy some Hardbound covers but the newspapers we get here are not really of quality to merit spending extra cash on. I'd rather focus my extra cash on my other hobbies. Since I'm mostly in front of the PC while at home and in the office, it's a whole lot more convenient as well.

I use to get the newspaper every day, but cut back to just the weekend. I'm now reading the news online, as the Sunday Paper has coupons in it. I call when there isn't a paper on my driveway, as I'm not paying for days that its not delivered.

A lot of people get just the Sunday paper. My paper cut rates back and I get it seven days--the other 6 days cost me just $.25 a day!

No we still have our subscription on and will continue it. I love reading newspaper and its kind of an addiction. I literally sink into the newspapers when I read them. And moreover reading newspaper daily keeps me informed about things which is so very necessary in todays world and also since I write reading is a good way to keep my source of informations updated.

Me, too! I love to keep up with the news this way. I know I can get more up to date news on the net but it's not the same as sitting with a real paper and a cup of coffee! Plus, I just read in the paper that my garbage service has a cheaper plan! I would not have known that without the paper. I'll save enough to cover the cost of my subscription.

My friend if we have a financial problem then i don't my mind in canceling a newspaper because i thing it can be replaced by news channels because i will find all the the current affairs and local news in them and if i am not satisfied then i will relay on the net which is also good idea. so finally i conclude that its i better idea to cut all the unnecessary expenses to save the money.

I agree with you in cutting costs, but we need some little luxuries and the newspaper is mine. Besides, I'm helping my carrier to keep his job and all the people employed by the newspaper keep theirs. My poor carrier, he just got married after saving for a couple of years so that they could afford to buy a house and now this horrible economy greets his new happiness.

It is good to have faith but God expects you to make a few sacrifices (if you need to!) in order to avoid money problems. I hope you are able to keep getting your newspaper, they are so enjoyable!

Well, with the internet, I get most of my news online. I can even access the local paper online. It's why the newspaper industry is hurting and may never recover. Pretty soon, I'll bet newspapers become free or obsolete. Besides, I never see anything good in the paper besides the funnies, and since "Zippy the Pinhead" I haven't seen anything funny in the funnies. I have never subscribed to the paper, and when I get calls from my local paper asking if I want to subscribe, I tell them that I would LOVE to know what's going on in my town, but that I grew up in a trailer park and am ILLITERATE. I also ask if maybe they could call me daily and READ ME the paper, since I can't understand what those black bugs on the paper spell out.

You're funny! I like "Zits", especially since I raised two great sons, I laugh at that one about a teenaged boy and his parents and friends. I find a lot in the paper that isn't on the tv news and I like sitting down with a dog on my lap(sometimes both of them!) and browsing through the paper. It's a relaxing way to start the morning. You're right about the internet making papers obsolete, though. They're going to have to either compete or go the way of the dodo bird.
