I have gone through many discussions where members talk about star ratings here on mylot ,and about how it keeps changing. Can someone please explain this to me? i am still not sure how my star rating keeps fluctuating. It fluctuates between 7 and 9..I myself have never rated anyone. Am i supposed to do that after i take part in each discussion? I would like to know more about this star rating and if or how it benefits us members?
please share your views friends ..

Hi kiran what i know it is decided on how many rated positively out of 100 like my current rating is 73 means out of 100 73 rated me positive ,it actually goes up and down for positive and negative rating ,once my rating was 86 but i know some people who continuously rated me negative and my rating star went down but i dont give importance to these,BTW i usually rate positive to everybody who give response to my discussions or comment me back.

Hi satyakam how do you know that? i mean that 73 have voted you positive. As you rightly say, rating has to be accepted at its face value knowing that members can vote with some prejudice i will definitely vote all those who take part in my discussions positive , thats the least i could do for them, for having taken the trouble to do that

Rating system is a complex process, which is only known to mylot. However, I must stress that whenever you respond to a post or post your comments on a response, you are supposed to rate the same. Rating others help them in building up their overall ratings. If you do not rate anyone, how will others can be expected to rate you. I always rate a post and a response, before writing my comments. I always rate positive or if it is one liner, I leave it as it is.

Thanks a lot for making it clear. I am going to make up for all the lost opportunities by rating every single discussion. Honestly i never knew that this was required of me..It does make sense that it is a mutual understanding ! and i always thought that the admins had something to do with the fluctuating rates or that there was some system in place that automatically did it !!
I doubt if i have any reason to rate anyone negative. I only answer discussions that i find interesting and so naturally i am going to rate it positive
