I like to lay down and clear my mind of everything for a few minutes each day. I believe this is a form of meditation. Have you ever used meditation to relax? Do you find it helpful?

One of the things I began my spiritual journey with was meditation. It would fill me with peace and peace has a way of turning into joy.. I read the poet Parmahansa Yogananda and learned that the ideal of meditation is to still one's mind so still, we can 'hear' the voice of God (it's like a feather drifting 'down' usually with a profound truth or understanding, the quiet voice of God). By this time I was also reading the new testament.. over the years meditation, for me, has become prayerful contemplation.. though I do still exercise my mind to be 'silent'.. ["Silence is golden" in more ways than one.] - The thing that still impresses me is in the natural, what a clamorous place the mind is! Or can become! When one first begins to practice or try meditation, we quickly can notice that.. or when one returns to it after not practicing it for a while.. I found the best thing is to let thoughts simply drift.. if a thought drifts in the mind, simply let it drift out the other side. Perhaps you can tell, yes I do like meditation and find it very helpful and beneficial. It makes a big difference in how we respond to things in life I think.

Yes, I have practised meditation and as a therapist, I teach my clients how to use it effective. Been doing that for about 30 years now. It is extremely helpful without doubt for stress management and many anything things. On my profile I have a link to the instructions I have on my website. . Derek

For this type of question, I think am the winner and not like a coward person to your discussion about "Weather Event". I've done meditation in 1986(25 years old), 6 feet under the ground in the real graveyard for seven (7) nights. From dusk time to dawn time, to raise up my level of self-confident. I'd learned and discerned myself about who am I in my own life. Sounds weird but that is my true life story.

Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of many religions, and has been practiced since antiquity. It is also practiced outside religious traditions. Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which may emphasize different goals -- from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind. It has many forms from Buddhism to Christianity, from Islam to Jainism and other forms like Judaism, Taoism which has been practiced for thousands of years. yeah, therefore, it's really benificial to our mentality and phisical health.

I like to meditate as well. I like to lay down, relax and simply clear my mind. It really helps me a lot, especially in stressful times, or if I'm just feeling low, and such. I find it very good for our mental health.

I've tried it - and failed. I just can't clear my mind of everything; maybe for the first 5 minutes, and then it starts wandering around. So I gave up!

I don't meditate at the moment, and I haven't done it for a while, but in the past I often meditated. I tried different technics in order to find the one which worked the best, and most of the time I used a mantra or the numbers from 1 to 10. In the beginning I found it very hard to meditate, and I couldn't concentrate more than a few minutes, but after a while I became better at it, and I started to enjoy meditation. I often used it to relax and sometimes I fell asleep while I was meditating. I also used it when I was nervous or worried about something, and it became a way for me to calm down.

I tried few times. With music, with tapes coaching you how to. It was good,. My problem is that when I'm stressed, or have a problem, I can not relax. I can meditate and relax, only if I'm good, in a happy mood. It's pretty strange, because meditatio helps you to relax, and when you're all stressed out, tou HAVE to relax. I just can not! It's like having some hot peppers up my a.. But if you have a strong will and can, than it makes wonders. It can heal everything. Our mind is so powerful that really makes wonders. I probably need more will power and let problems for later.I should to this.

I like to try and do that too everyday, i like to fill the tub up with hot water and soak, just lay their and clear my mind of everything. it helps me relax, so i have no problems falling asleep at night. I think that everyone needs to take a few minuets from their busy and hectic lives and just relax , and not think about anything.
