Just wondering how many mylotters wear glasses. I dont know if I am going to need them yet..felt kinda blurred vision a few weeks ago and visited an optician to check, he seemed too eager to confirm that I had a problem. I decided to hold off the offer to get them fixed right away with glasses and do some research first..

I too wearing glasses since 8 years. But now i want to use contact lenses for a change. But i have heard that contact lenses are difficult to handle and they are very delicate too. Once one of my friend was riding bike and he was wearing his contact lenses and suddenly he found that his lenses were flown away by wind. I always afraid of using contact lenses. I always have the feeling of what will happen I rub my eyes while putting on lenses. Did u ever have such kind kind of situation?

wow thats a scary thing to happen, and shellsim, gosh u are lucky nothing happened after all that! so monthly disposables, huh??

If you rub your eye violently, then that may cause them to rip in your eye. I wore mine for years, on many drunken nights, slept with them in by accident, got mascara on them etc but they survived everything. The only problem I had was when I had acrylic nails, I found them very difficult to remove. However, if you went for ones that you can wear all the time for a month then this wouldnt be a problem. I personally would recommend the monthly disposable ones where you wear them all day, take them out at night and give them a quick clean in the morning. They cost less than daily disposables but they are really good.

During my teens, there were two moments when I needed to wear glasses. The first was in my really early teens, and then later on, when I was in my mid-teens. However, I don't need to wear glasses anymore. I'm not saying that I have a perfect vision. All I'm saying is that my vision is good enough that I don't need to wear glasses.

I didn't really do anything. I'd wear my glasses, when I needed them. When I read, I make sure that I have enough light. I did the usual things.

I do wear glasses but just for correcting. I do use it outside when i do feel dizzy walking out because the doctor said my eye captures all the light and i am wearing glasses that delays the input of brightness into my eyes. I do wear it too when i am reading. But usually i don't like to wear it nowadays. I feel its heavy and sometimes i do feel headache too. So i said maybe i will use it for one week, then another week rest, heheh!

That sounds like a rare condition you have, glad you have a solution. Regarding the heaviness, have you tried really light frames or dont they help?

I wore glasses since I was 8, then I got contact lenses when I was 14. I wore them for a few years until I was 21 then I decided to get my eyes lasered. The best decision I ever made, its great!! I think that sometimes people can be too quick to get glasses which means your eyes become more dependent on them, meaning you need to wear them more. By the way, this is only my opinion, I am not an optician!! I would get second opinion if I was you. One of the signs of a person requiring glasses can sometimes be frequent sore heads as eyes are straining to see things.

Hi Sunsham, I'm rather skeptical about opticians, ever since one of my colleagues had her eye problem diagnosed as cataracts by an optician. It just turned out to be her contact lenses. I usually check with eye specialists or optometrists, whom I have more confidence. I have been wearing glasses since my teens, and switched to contacts when I started working. As long as I keep them clean, it's no problem. Contacts are convenient, especially when playing games or sports.

I wear glasses even though I am thinking about getting some contacts one day. I have had glasses since I was in late middle/early high school. I need to wear them in order to see the board at school as well as to drive around. I don't need them to read or anything though.

I wear glasses (or sometimes using contacts). I have short sight which I had since I was in the 5th grade. Means I have been using this glasses almost for 10 years and feel getting used to it. I went to the optician whenever I think the glasses are no longer good for my eye problems, and maybe one day I would get the laser operation to get my eye problem fixed because I don't think I would like to use this glasses forever

I've worn glasses for years. I never got contacts because it never bothered me to wear glasses. The frames that they have today are so pretty and so stylish and wearing them really makes my eyes look bigger. I wouldn't trade my glasses for contacts but I might consider getting the lasix surgery.

I've been wearing glasses since I was a teenager - glasses and braces during my teenage years - yeah! At first it was a huge nuisance but vision is extremely important and I'd like to keep mine. I understand the need to get a second opinion and I think you should. But don't wait too long. Get it checked and get it fixed. Good luck!

Ive been wearing glasses since I was a kid! I was getting bad grades in school and finally the teacher realized that I couldnt see the board from the back of the room! I found out that I was legally blind, but I can see 20/20 with glasses. I also wear contacts but I dont wear them all the time. Just when Im going out! I hate wearing glasses but I need them to see!

Hi suncham, when I was in my earlier middle school days, I felt a bit blurred when looking at the writing on the blackboard. I found I couldn’t focus accurately on distant objects clearly. When my dad knew this he took me to visit an optician and to have a check on my eyesight. We were told that I needed a pair of nearsighted glasses so that I could see thing clearly. My eyesight would become worse gradually if I kept on reading or looking things without any glasses. Since then I began to put on spectacles. After having a pair of new glasses I could see thing clearly, but it was really inconvenient to wear glasses when doing outdoor activities like playing games, especially swimming. I had tried to shift to use contact lens but I felt uneasy when putting them on. Anyway I prefer to wear back glasses again. Luckily that I don’t have serious nearsighted eyes so I still could see thing though it is a bit blurred without glasses. Happy posting and have a nice day.

I have worn glasses since I was about 25. I noticed a difference in my vision after the birth of my first child about 22 years ago. Now since I turned 40 I have worn bifocals or progressive type lenses that has many different presciptions in the lens for about 7 years now. Never had the desire to stick my finger in my eye to put contacts in to see.

I have been wearing glasses since my college days. In fact, it all started with the driving test. When I went for the test, I did well with the written test, but when taking the actual riving test on the road, I failed because I couldn't see the road signs right. The test officer said " Go and get eye tests, and come back". He was right. When I went back with glasses, it was so easy. Since then, I have been wearing glasses. I dare not drive without wearing glasses. This is just to share my experience !

thanks for that, it was nice reading! do you believe that alternate vision correction methods work and that glasses are considered as a patch on a wound rather than a treatment? i came across it recently and when i am up for vision problems hope to use this method rather than glasses. not that i have anyting against that but if its not correcting a problem, and in fact worsens it, i wouldnt wanna wear it!
