My cat is crazy! When I got up a little while ago to get that cup of coffee that I mentioned in my other discussion that made me soooo sleepy (huh?), I found my cat hiding behind my coffee pot! LoL! I've never ever seen her here before. I attached a pic so you can see her. Her name is Shady and she is about 6 years old. Take a look at my profile page for more crazy places I've found her over the years...

I think you have to have 500 posts under your belt before you can upload images to discussions.

Nope, I think the only thing associated with 500 posts, is the ability to copy and paste. I.e. a link or something.
I can post a picture, it's an option when you're starting a discussion, around the bottom.

awe he needed some coffe too! thats funny. cats are so funny anyway. i had a cat when i first moved here and her first litter of kittens was a crazy bunch. i would find the kittens in my shoes in dresser drawers. its weird the way they find the odd places to play and hide. i have a black cat i call blackie that is the devil i think! he will jump from my bed to my desk chair and sit on the back and slap at my hair and if he catches a peice of my hair he gets his paws caught up. ouch! but i laughin too hard to make him quit hhe they really are great pets to have.

Hiding behind the Coffee Pot? That is interesting. I guess maybe it was a warm spot to hang out, or maybe your cat was feeling ignored, and thought if it hung out there you might pick it up and pet it, etc. like you do with your coffee. But do wish my friend that the picture would have shown up here.

Cats do all kinds of wonderful crazy things. Ours had the hiccups tonight, and it was really really funny. We were sitting on the couch with him, and he just kept bouncing, every time he hiccuped. We're thining of getting a kitten (a little orange one that we're going to name Phoenix) and God only knows what he is going to get into.

Awwww.... how funny danishcanadian! I am sure you guys were just rolling on the floor laughing at your cat! LoL! What did your cat think of her hiccups? Was she (or he) trying to figure out what the heck was happening?! Our cat makes us laugh sooo many times a day, it isn't even funny. We adopted her from a lady who couldn't keep her cats because she was getting married & he was highly allergic to them. We picked Shady out from just her description over the phone and hadn't even seen her yet. She was very shy & timid when we first got her but over the months & now years since then, she has really formed a cute & funny personality all her own. But man... does she LOVE to eat!

Aw, that poor baby! Were you able to help him get rid of his hiccups? Prolongued hiccups are painful for a human I can only imagine what a kitten goes through!

That's a good name for a cat who loves to hide. It's a shame you
didn't put the actual link to your profile so we could access
via our email alert. I wonder if we can do that? I love cat's
that have wonderful and interesting personalities.

Hi MsTickle - Yes, the name "Shady" is the perfect name for our cat. We adopted her from another lady years ago. She couldn't keep her because her fiance was highly allergic to cats. Her name was already Shady so we kept it. We didn't know her name until the day the lady brought her over and it was so funny because we realized that now we had a cat named "Shady" & our dog's name... "Sunshine"! :) PERFECT!

What a sweet kitty!! Cats are very imaginative, I'm convinced. There's nothing else to explain why they hide some of the places they hide and do what they do. Maybe she wanted to surprise you! Next time, try acting surprised and see what she does.

Maybe she's waiting for a message from the mother ship... coffee pots make great transmitters, don't you know?

LoL... good idea dragon54u! She is back in the same spot again. She was there for about 2 hours then she came out because it was "first dinner" time. She ate, stayed out for a few more minutes and then went right back again. Silly kitty!

Thanks for the tip Dawn. I can't remember if I previewed this one before posting it or not. I know I uploaded the picture and I saw it on the screen before I continued. Not sure what happened but maybe what you said. I will have to do that next time. Did you go to my page to see the pic? She came out to eat after about two hours but she just went back there again a few minutes ago! LoL! She is so funny. She has never gone there before.

They are funny. Mine doesn't hide in places so much but believe me she provides much entertainment for us. We have this remote control rat that the kids had and we have a ball watching her with that thing. Here is a picture of her having a standoff with it. She just don't trust that thing! LOL

She is 9 months old. She is a very small cat.
We actually ask our neighbors if we could have her because we felt so sorry for her. They have beagle dog that thought she was a chew toy!
After watching that dog drag her all over the yard a few times we asked them if we could have her and they said sure. So we took her and got her shots and got her fixed and all and she took to our house very graciously. She is so funny!

That really is funny! Oh my! My cat is so bloody garfield! She's hungry all the time, meowing at the doorstep or pawing on the window when she gets the smell of meat being cooked especially. Her name is Billu and she's just 10 months.

I think cats, like other animals has their own personality. I have 2 cats and they are different. One is more endearing than the other and the other is a bigger eater than the other. Oh and when they go to the litter, that's different too. One of them won't cover their biz and it stinks up the whole downstairs as well as the stairs...gross...but I love them so much =) hehehe. Oh and my dog loves playing with them.

LoL! I hate it when our cat doesn't cover the stuff up! Man oh man, does it stink... you are so right about that! LoL! I don't know how our cat would react to having another kitty in the house. I don't think she'd like it. When we got her, we already had a dog so she eventually got used to that. I once brought our neighbor's cat into our house and both cats freaked out and started hissing like crazy! I couldn't get the other cat outside fast enough. I think if we did get another one it would have to be a kitten. I think she'd react better to that than a grown cat.

Oh for sure, you really have to get a kitten. I think cats can be territorial too, they're not as the same as the dog since it would bark when strangers are there. But when other animals are there, I think they can be territorial. I went to feed the neighbor's cat and the first day I did it, I brought my puppy. Oh jeez, the oldest cat and her were gonna go at it. My pup peed on the floor out of fear. But when I was near and pet the cat, he was just purring like there's not tomorrow.

Was the coffee pot still warm from making coffee? If so, Shady was probably behind it for the heat. I've found Simba in the strangest places as well. He will do/try anything to get/stay warm. lol

Hi blackbriar - Actually, the coffee pot had been off for at least a few hours so it wasn't warm anymore. I don't know what she was thinking that day. She went back there one more time later that day but hasn't been behind the coffee pot since. Silly kitty!

I can't say my cat Kiki ever really tries to scare me, but she is sneeky and tries to get into our room when we are eating and be a grub!

Well, with a name like Shady she is bound to have some odd if not questionable behavior, what di you expect? LOL I am not exactly a cat person partially because MOST cats are crazyt! I have nothing against them though, as long as they don't live with me. I am thinking of putting catnip around outside for the strays to help deter other critters that might try to enter the house.

Don't you just love those little furrrr purrrrs. We have three cats. I have no idea how, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. We have two little grey females and a black male.
I was doing dishes yesterday, busy loading the dishwasher, cleaning counters, sweeping, etc. We have a garden window in front of the sink. I am short and sometimes don't see things that are higher. All of a sudden I almost dropped the dish. Our black male, Zorro, was wound around the three vases of flowers that my husband bought for my daughter and I for Valentine's Day. He was just sitting there sunning himself. I couldn't get a camera fast enough to get a picture.
Prior to this one he figured out how to push up the basement ceiling tiles and there is no room that he can't explore down there. One day he crawled along the ceiling and dropped from the closet ceiling in the bathroom. Now that is interesting when you think you are all alone in the bathroom and a big black cat shows up. We love him dearly but have not figured out how to keep him out of the ceiling.

omg lmao I can just picture Zorro, the 'bomb', being launched from the basement ceiling to land on some poor unsuspecting soul. Talk about an instant heart attack. Zorro sounds like a very fun and creative cat to have around. If he's not hurting anything, let him go in the ceiling and explore all he wants. Maybe he'll come back with some gifts for you that he found on his adventures.

He originally got into the ceiling because he was scouting out mice. The water heater must have had a few when it was changed out last year. The cats are so well fed that they just catch the mouse but don't eat them.
It is interesting when he brings his "catch" to us in the middle of the night. That's the time to rescue the mouse and put him in a shoe box and let the poor frightened creature loose in the woods down the street from us.
I think he goes into the ceiling checking for more mice. At least we live in a mouse-free home.
