So far, I have been reading up quite a bit on detoxing the body, and most of them are recommending some sort of pills or supplements to do it. You take the said pills or supplements and follow their said program, you will be clearing your body of toxins and other impurities. Now, correct me if I am wrong, pills and supplements are made from food extracts as well right? What is the more inexpensive way of getting the body detoxed without having to spend money on those pills and supplements? I there any list of food that we can work into our diet so that it will produce the same effects as eating the pills and supplements? Or any exercises we should take note of to include into our routine to aid in the detoxing process? Any idea?

YEah, supplements and pills are make up from food extracts, and actually, nothing beats the real food.. But the main reason for pills and supplements is to boost the detoxifiying process in the body.. Imagine yourself eating the same old food for months?? I wont be able to do that as i will get sick and tired.. lol =D Thus, pills and supplements are an alternative to food so that, we are still able to enjoy our meals properly ^_^ Of course there are foods and exercises that detoxifies our body.. Fruits such as banana and papaya will have the same effect ^_^ As for exercises, as long as we get to sweat it out, it's considered as detoxifying too ^_^ Other than that, drink more plain water for detoxifying too ^_^

Exercise is now ranked last on my list if I want to do any of it. Cos it is too painful to be doing any exercising now. Pill are really costly. And the supplements that comes with detoxing the body don't come cheap either. That is why I am thinking if it is possible to achieve the same detoxing results if we change our diet instead. I am already drinking loads of water. So that helps a bit I guess.

Go for the natural way then ^_^ By drinking lots of water and getting rid of all the toxics in the body via peeing ^_^ But make sure not to hold for too sure as it will only encourage the growth of kidney stones in the body ^_^ hehe

Hmm... but I thought detox is only done for a short period. One the detox process is over, you just carry on with your daily life till the next time you feel the need to do another detox. Going on a long term detoxing may not be good for your health. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is the impression I have about detox.

There are many ways to detoxify actually and you don't even need pills! You can do a cleansing diet where you just take in fluids for a day or more depending on how your body is conditioned. I know someone who goes on a cleansing diet three days a month and she says it really works to keep her physique trip and her mind sharp. If water diet is not for you, then you can always just cut back on certain food..like oily and fatty food which is what really makes our body toxic!

Hmm... I don't know about the water diet. I cannot imagine not eating for three whole days! I may need to find out more about the water diet. Don't want to go on it and then faint from hunger when I am not at home.

I personally feel that giving up food for a day is the best detox that is there. I do it once a month when i have only tender coconut water, lime juice and tomatoe juice and plenty of water all through the day.I would think that it is a good way of cleansing your system and giving it a rest once in a while..

Hmm... fast for a day eh? It is that good? I may give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation though. Must plan this properly. Other wise, once the hunger pangs strike, it would be useless already.

Go ahead and do it ! If you plan it in such a way that you have plenty of liquids , you can keep hunger pangs at bay!! you do feel nice and fresh after the experience - all the best :)

I am a medical doctor but I don't prescribe such pills routinely because all the antioxidants (detoxifying medicines)are present in abundance in foods and vegetables. Lycopien, a very popular antioxidant is abundant in tomatoes, I can go on. Another very good way to detoxify the body is physical exercise and 'yoga'. Do meditation to detoxify the body as well as mind.

Oh, do go on. I wouldn't mind listening or reading what ever you have to share on this topic. So, other than tomatoes, what other foods should we be looking at if we are looking at doing the detox via meals?

The list is quite long but in general fruits and vegetables have lot of vitamins and antioxidants in them. Drink lot of water, the kidneys will wash away minor toxins.

Ocen Spray Cranberry Juice, Green Tea and Grapefruit. Got it! I have heard of using Green tea and Grapefruit. Cranberry juice is new to me. Just to let you know, too much green tea will cause constipation.

TEA! i use tea to detox. Those slimming-based tea-s are actually great for detoxing. Because they make you have the runs. I used to drink this chinese slimming tea. And after 4 hours i would start running to the toilet. Not only does it help to detox, it helps to ease breakouts. SOmehow, one of my friends drank the tea and his face cleared up too.

Hmm... interesting. And are the teas expensive? Are they a mixture of tea leaves or there are additional additives to it? I heard green tea has some detox properties too. But drinking too much of it will cause constipation. The opposite of what your slimming tea does. So I guess green tea is not part of the mix.

Well the only, and the best detoxing i know is our body immune system but if it can't help or any healthy food can't help so pills or supplement may help, but it's not always seem like that, i think we must let the body fight for it first, to get the healthy body and better body immune system of course we need an exercises and eat healthy food

Yeah, I know. That is why I am asking if there are any diet or foods we should include in our diet to aid in the detoxing of the body. Or whether there are any detox plans that does not require one to buy expensive pill or supplements to do it. Any idea?

Have you heard of the patches taht you can put on the bottom of your feet at night? Those patches actually do work and get out alot of stuff through your body and you will be amazed. I had bought them for my boyfriend to use and when he got up in the morning and took them off they were black so i know they are working. When you take them off you will see that sweet or some type of water base coming out as well. If you want a cheap and effective way for detoxing you should try this. Also Arbone (not sure if you heard of this brand) offers a drink supplement that you can drink and you can detox your body that way. YOu will see alot of things come out in the toilet that might scare you, but they say its normal. I know Arbone is expensive so im sure the detoxing drink is expensive but it is just another way to detox.

I heard of the patch that goes on the feet. It doesn't come cheap either. At almost $10 for each patch, it is a tad expensive. But I am considering if it is really useful. Like I said, detox supplements are usually made from extracts of food we eat. I wonder if it is possible to get on to a program that give the same benefits of a detox pill without having to buy the pill or the supplements. Just a change of diet and inclusion of certain foods to do the same job. Any idea?
