This just happened last night or yesterday afternoon anyway.. My husband and I went to Golden Corral and had lunch.. I got a big bed of lettuce with what I thought was tuna salad on top of it, but when I tasted of it, it wasn't tuna salad.. It tasted like the most horrible raw fishy-fish and I just barely tasted of it before I spit it out into a napkin.. I asked my waitress to come and taste it, she took a bite and got a napkin and spit it out into the napkin.. She went into the back and took it off the bar, and after checking she told me that it was crab meat that had been mixed up to be made into crab cakes, but it was put on the bar raw, she also said that it probably why it had been sitting there all day and no one had eaten much of it.. Golden Corral gives you a receipt that has a website to contact them and I intend to do so today, I just didn't feel like it last night.. Makes me almost sick to think of it this morning.. I probably will not go back for awhile, but since I like to eat out a lot, I will eventually go back but not until I at least complain and let them know about this.. Most times I do keep my mouth shut about these thing but not this time, that stuff tasted horrible..

My most recent trip to a Golden Corral was wonderful I was with a huge group of Special Olympic athletes. Of course it was early in the dinner hour, and so the food was fresh and plentiful. The raw crab cake being served as tuna salad is unacceptable, and should never have happened. There are laws about food handling, storage and LABELING that are supposed to be followed in all commercial kitchens or kitchens that have anything to do with the state, like schools, nursing homes, restaurants. I am even supposed to follow these procedures and rules in my client's homes. That is pure neglect there.

Hi eaforeman dear! Oh my, that will be really disappointing and terrible. Yikes! I guess it will depend on how severe the sickness I will have. I don't think I will be complaining if I will be able to remedy the situation without going to the hospital. It will be very hard to prove unless I get to be confined to the hospital because of something that I ate in a restaurant. But for sure I wouldn't be going back to that restaurant again and will tell my family and friends not to go there anymore. I will surely tell them my story.
Take care and have a great day!

Yep my dear friend eaforeman. It is so hard to prove it. I guess there is no better way for us but to be careful in whatever we eat or drink.
I am having a great time mylotting because of nice friends like you.

I am always dubious about eating out my friend, that is probably why I very very seldom go out for a meal, probably about two, three times a year max! The thing is even if you go to a reputable place that you have been going for for years they could change chefs, change staff and the food could be less palatable and done in the wrong way, causing the food to go bad. I never complain about my food until I've left it or the dinner is over, I will never ever let the waiter take away food and bring it back because you hear stories of what they do to your food out the back out of eyesight! My motto is, bad food and I won't eat there again. And you are right how do you proove it was their food unless you have the evidence and that could be tricky LOL! Unless of course you are brave enough to ask for a doggy bag at the end of the meal

I would call them and make them aware of the problem...or at least check up to see if the symptons last a while or are linked to the time span that is given to say salmanella..etc. I have a friend that works in a restaurant..(McDonalds') she is a manager there...they have people call in all the time but in reality most of the time it's either a sham or someone trying to get something free....if everyone at the table got sick at the same time I would wonder if it were something we ate. I did get sick once from eating at a restaurant...I never went back. To this day I can't eat oriental foods!

Food poisoning is pretty easy to spot. If you are uncontrollably throwing within 12 hours or so of eating something suspicious, and it's over with in a matter of several hours, then you know it's not the flu. You should call the restaurant and warn them what happened. You should tell them what you ate. They may decide to throw some things away to protect others from being ill.
If it's not full-blown food poisoning, I wouldn't call. You can't really prove that what you ate is causing this. You could have a touch of the flu.

I guess it would depend on how sick I had gotten. If I were hospital sick..I owuld definately raise a stink about it. I wouldn't want anyone else to get that sick. If I were just ill at home for a day..I would just spread the word and not go back.

I would probably evaluate the experience, and see what it might have been. I would reserve my eating there for awhile, as well. I would not file a complaint. Certain foods used to always make me sick, regardless of where I ate them. Too much fat for my system. I learned to not order those foods.
