Hi billowy, I'm thinking it looks like it could be a Poppy ? I'm sure others here will be able to tell you for sure. Í'm not that great with naming flowers . Poppy would be my guess . I can't wait to find out if I'm wrong or right , so you flower experts come on and name this flower, lol

I think it's a coreopsis (spelling?). I used to grow these in my garden, they grew like crazy and reseeded themselves easily. Butterflies and hummingbirds loved them.

That was my second guess...spelling is right...I know I could determine if I could enlarge and see foliage. Totally easy care & fodder as you say for hummers & butterflies! Cheers!

I can't really tell the size from the picture, but they do look a little bit like buttercups. but it's hard to tell.

I think that beachstarz might be right! I cannot see the foliage properly, so can't be sure....I think it is from the California Poppy family...as it seems to have five petals! If the foliage is fern like, and a bluey-green, that's more than likely the species. The only other thing that I can think of would be Coreopsis! Is there more growing...and do some of them appear orange? Wished I could enlarge your picture, as then I could give you a definite amswer! Cheers!
