I'm starting up a yoga regimen - mainly to ease stress & maybe become a little more flexible, but I'd really like some relaxing background music to do it to!
Does anyone else do Yoga or meditate on a regular basis? Do you find music to be helpful?
I'm already familiar with Enya & Dido, but I would like some other ideas of songs that are "easy listening" and will help me relax while I do yoga.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, guys!

I listen to this CD my ex bought for me it is all cello music. I love cellos and it just relaxes me and helps me focus on relaxing and meditating. There are no lyrics so there is nothing to really distract me.

Hello maezee, i am glad to know that you are planning to take up Yoga and do meditation. I have been doing Yogic asanas or exercises since 1970 and Yogic breathing exercises or Pranayam as they are called since 1988. I meditate everyday after practising this. I have been initiated into the highest form of Yoga called Kriya Yoga which will take me to the ultimate goal of Man, ie, SELF REALISATION. This is not available in any book or taught en masse but is a series of secret yogic techniques which are taught by a Master.
While doing all this i never needed any external source like music since it becomes a distraction and also once you get used to it you will not be able to meditate without it.If you are interested i can teach you a very simple and easy meditation technique which is extremely powerful and has been taught by the great yogis of India for thousands of years. For this you will not need music or any external source.send me a friend request so that i can give you this technique in a pvt message.LOL.

You can do meditation by chanting and listing the music in the beginning so it gives sound result but after you will get some good concentration then you can start to do meditating hours together without anything.

When I do it I usually do it with a DVD with an instructor. So I just use what ever music is on the DVD, I don't pay as much attention to the music while doing yoga as I do with other forms of exercise. What they have on the DVD's is usually good. You could always get some yoga DVD's from the Library and see what music they are using. This might be helpful.
