Have you ever realized a long-time dream for your life?

What are some of the things that you have dreamed about achieving in your lifetime? How many of them have you ever realized? Recently, I have had one of my dreams come true! Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to host my own radio show - to be an on-air radio personality. I have always been interested in performing arts. I have worked in several different theaters, both professional and community. I have worked with several celebrities in various capacities - from security to follow spot operator to road crew. One of my long-time dreams, though, has finally been realized in a way that I never expected. I am now hosting an internet radio show every Tuesday night at 10 PM eastern time! Last Tuesday, March 3rd was my first official broadcast! I have a very eclectic musical taste, so I haven't settled upon a set format for the show. I will likely try out a variety of formats until I find one that I prefer. Hopefully, it will go well enough that I can move into a second time slot and actually run two different formats on a regular basis. I would love to have my myLot friends tune in to my show! You can hear the broadcast at http://www.ravenzradio.com. While my show is family friendly, you need to be aware that not all of the other shows hosted on Ravenz Radio are suitable for all audiences. So, what dreams do you have for your life? "Sleeping without dreaming is peaceful. Living without dreaming is dreary."

Hi thorgrym, It is great that you were able to fulfill one of your dreams, i am sure the others too would be fulfilled in time..Congratulations.. My dreams are simple and down to earth, so some of them do get fulfilled. I probably need to dream big once in a while , just to make it a little more exciting.

I just wanted to say Congrats to you!! I'm very excited for you man! I don't seem to have dreams anymore , well not big ones anyway . Maybe it's because I'm very content with my life as it is . I have little goals , like getting a project done. Getting my garden looking nice, finishng an art project . No long term , or big goals , just little things .

kiran, Dreaming can certainly add to your life. Dreaming too big, though, can be frustrating if you never achieve those goals. I don't think that any dream is too small, though. beachstarz, As said above, I don't think that there is any dream too small. We need to take joy in all the 'little' things that we accomplish everyday and tend to take for granted! I wrote an article about just appreciating the sunset every day. Nothing wrong with contentment as long as we don't let it slip into complacency. Thanks for the responses!

Well said and very true. I feel that most of the times happiness comes from small things...and nothing is unimportant, but one has to have motivation, some goal and work towards achieving it

Although I have many more dreams to conquer, I have achieved two of my dreams. The first was to live abroad. I did that and still have to pinch myself to this day to think what a stroke of serendipity that was. I lived and worked in London for two years, and I loved every minute of it. The second dream was to see the Acropolis in Greece. It took me a lot longer to do this one. I had initially planned to go there on my honeymoon, but then ended up breaking up with my boyfriend, so we never went. I finally got there on my own 20 years later...and I couldn't help wondering if he ever made it? It was a spectacular experience...just to think of how something so old has managed to exist through time. I also loved Athens and would go visit Greece again in a heartbeat. I feel like I have had a lucky life in some ways...these two things really made it worth living.

Oh, and I completely forgot to say, "CONGRATS" to you on your radio show. That's awesome.

Thanks for sharing that! I am not much of a world traveler, but one of the places that I would love to visit is Greece. That must have been a wonderful experience for you! I really love the rich literary history of Greece - Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey are two of my favorites. Great stuff! Congrats on two realized dreams!

Hello Thor Grym. I have always wanted to visit other countries ever since i was a child, and last year (before i turned 21 years old) i visited Greece as a summer vacation with my girlfriend (passing through Bulgaria), so that was one of my long time dreams come true. This year we are going to London... so i am keeping the dream come true alive- it was not just a once in a lifetime accomplishment.

That's great! I have recently realized the ease of travel with a little bit of planning. I don't have a huge desire to travel abroad, but it is nice to take a little vacation every once in a while. Thanks to some online rewards programs, I have been able to accumulate some 'frequent flier miles' without actually traveling. With these rewards programs, I saved up enough points to spend a night in New York City (or several nights in a less costly place!) without having to pay for a hotel room! Now that I am enrolled in these rewards programs, it makes traveling on a shoestring budget a whole lot easier and appealing! One place that I would like to visit, though, is Greece. I don't really have a desire to go to France, but I would like to visit the Paris Opera House due to the book/movie/play 'The Phantom of the Opera.' Other than that, I am pretty content to visit places here in the United States. I hope your trip to London is a great one!

i have not realized my dream. and sometimes i wonder if i have a dream in life. cause i had so much dreams before i had in my life but does not seem to hold importance to me now. as i get older i get to realized what things that matter in life. and think that i dream more to live a life that is live towards things that are essential in life. but still i do dream to have a comfortable life but if in case i won't reach that dream i will not going to be bitter in life. but there are some few things that i wanted to have in life though it is a dream i really love to have soon but i don't think it will qualify for most people as a dream but for that is the most important dream for.

I don't think that you are ever too old to have a dream for your life. Sure, as we age, those things might change. As to my radio show dream, it is really nothing terribly life-altering but it is something that I always wanted to do. If I had not achieved it, I would not have any regrets. I think that is the difference between a dream and a desire - the feeling of regret or lack thereof. For instance, I love to follow football - American football, not what Americans call soccer. I went to a really small high school that didn't have an organized football team so other than playing football with my friends I never really had the opportunity to play. When I went to college, I had the chance to play for my college football team. I played for a while, but developed tendinitis in my shoulders so I was unable to continue with the sport. I had the desire to play football, I got the chance, it didn't work out. I have no regrets. I think, though, that if I sat here in my recliner watching football on TV and hadn't had the chance to play myself, I would always have regretted that. It was never my dream to play professional football as I never felt that was in my grasp in the first place.

It is definitely a great feeling to realize a dream! I would suggest that you check in your area for community theatre groups. There is probably a lot more going on in your area than you are aware of. For instance, we have a couple of theatre groups within a 20 mile radius. A few years ago, a friend of mine called me out of the blue and asked me if I would like to be in a production of 1776. They were having a hard time finding enough guys to fill all of the roles. Of course I said YES! One of the girls that was in the play is now living and working in New York City. My point is that community theatre might not be your ultimate goal when you say that you want to be on stage, but it can certainly be a stepping stone to the venue of your dreams. Go for it!

Well, Zig Ziglar says, "If you can dream it, you can achieve it." I think that if we focus on our dreams enough, they will come true.

That is great that you have your own radio show! I have alot of dreams and they are slowly coming alive. My biggest one is to be an actress, I know thats what most people want but I set goals and dreams and make them happen when its the right time. I have been trying to move to California for several years and never got the courage and support that I needed to get there so I never did it. Then one day I said to myself its time. I have a wonderful job transfer me it took several try's but they made my dream come true. I'm here now been thru a few ruff patch but I bet its that way for everyone. Was it hard to get your radio station on aboard?
