Do you take hot tea with any of your meals? Whenever we go out for Asian food we almost always order hot Jasmine or Green tea. I find it to be a better choice than cold drinks although I do like unfiltered sake with dinner. Having tea seems to be better for the digestion as well.

Jasmine tea sounds so interesting with asian food. I will give it a try. I usually have Iced Mint Tea when having Italian food or the Indian burger or what we call vada pav with normal brew of hot tea with the taste of ginger. Wonderful.

The place where I go to have Indian Food only has chai. It's a little strong for me.

I do take hot green tea after having dinner. I would sip it while watching a movie or tv. Would drink about 3 mugs of green tea with of course the first round it's thick and by the time it's the third mug it would be quite diluted. But I don't drink it everyday. I would just take plain water after my meals. When I eat out it would be also plain water as I take my own tupperware bottle along. Save some money on ordering drinks and yes it's more healthy not to drink cold/ice water after meals.

Do you ever have problems with the restaurants when you bring your water bottle in?

Nope because normally we go with friends so they will order drinks and my husband and I won't. So the waiters don't make any noise. If it's only the both of us then I think they might make some noise. But we have been to DOME restaurant before and we took our tumblers with us but since they gave free plain water with a little bit of lemon inside, we just drank the plain water they give. The restaurants here do give plain water but not the coffee shops (hawker style). Once my husband and I went to this coffee shop in town to have a quick bite. We ordered some noodles and when the waiter came to ask for drink orders and we said no, the owner of the shop switched off the fan which was above us. We couldn't care less. We just ate the noodles then went our way. Some coffee shops here would have a sign on the wall saying that "If you don't order drinks, you have to pay MYR1.20. That's because owners of coffee shop owns the shop and they rent the space to the hawkers. So if everyone who comes in don't order drinks then they won't make money. But there is no such law enforcing this statement.

That is fascinating. Some music clubs here have a drink minimum but I have never heard of an establishment that serves food having such a policy about drinks.

I cannot take chai tea. It is too intense for me. I find it is very popular though.

I don't have tea with a main meal. Mostly just supper or during a snack. I love dunking my traybakes, cookies and biscuits into my cuppa.

It's better not to drink anything with your meal or to have a small amount of water, but I have found that green tea or mint tea are beneficial and seem to assist in digestion.

my Chinese friend introduced me to a new chinese restaurant near their place in china town and they served free hot tea immediately. the servings are good for two to three people and we were so full. they say that the tea helps to relieve gastrointestinal distress so we went ahead and had a lot of tea. tea is also offered in Sonya's Garden restaurant, in a Thai and in a Vietnamese restaurant we visited.

That will be my mom and my father, but not me though. I occasionally have those hot tea for breakfast though. But for the meal time, I usually order a soda myself. I don't know, I just get used to it. I wish someday I can adapt to the hot drink during my meals too. I knew it is healthier than coke.

Tea would definitely be healthier than coke! You should have water with your meal, but sometimes juice is ok. When we go out for Indian food I get mango juice because they don't have bottled water and I don't care for chai.
