Do you like the new top 11 and the new rule on American Idol?

Well I watched last night with great anticipation, because after watching the top 13 preform, I really did not have a clue who was going to go home! The competition this really is so excellent, I was not sure even who to vote for, for fear of someone really good going home too early. In the end I voted for three of the guys; Adam, Danny and Kris. (Yes, Kris) I was not too surprised to see that Jasmine and Jorge were sent home, although I thought that Anoop's preformance was the weakest of all of them. Jasmine seemed to be swallowed up by the big voices of the other contestants. Jorge was good, but I guess Anoop was more popular in the votes. My guess is he will not last much longer, anyway, unless he picks better songs. Now I want to ask everyone's opinion about the new "rule" on AI. It seems that now the judges can save a contestant if they feel America has got it wrong. I think they are the ones who got it wrong this time, to be honest! I know that good people have been sent home early in the past seasons, but isn't that the name of the game? Daughtry and Hudson seem to have done fairly well for themselves, I think. I think this is the Producers way of covering their own butts in case one of THEIR faves doesn't get enough votes, and it changes the nature of the show if they choose to use this power. I also did not like how they made the poor preformers sing as if they really had a chance to change the judges minds at this stage of the game. They knew they were done, and it was just kind of a crueler way to send them home in my opinion. What are your feelings on all of this? Do you still have a favorite singer? Do you like the new rule? Share your opinion with me here!

I think that it is a good new rule, Because the year Chris was voted off It was a mistake, and he should have won that year. I believe that it was people thought that he was going to make it so they did not vote for him. even though he has been doing really good. and i agree that the ones that went home were the weakest out of the group. My favorites are Adam, Allison, and Danny. I think they are going to make it through to the top.

Yeah, those three are really big faves right now, as is Lil' Rounds, and it would be a shame to see any of them go, but my point is that that is how the show works, and it kind of seems like the producers can fix the show for the person THEY want to win, and it seems unfair. Why even vote? (Not that I'm going to stop!)

The problem is that had the save been in place all along, it wouldn't have saved Chris Daughtry. He was third runner-up which means he made it to the Top 5 (top 4 actually) and the judges can't use the save after that point. It could have saved Michael Johns last season though. Jennifer Hudson was another example Ryan gave who I think was in the Top 5 when she got voted off. I'd have to look it up to be sure and I don't really feel like doing that right now but I think she was voted off in the same round as Daughtry (in her season, of course).

I thought he would do really bed, because he seemed really inexperienced, but he had a good preformance. I don't think he will last much longer though, against the rest of the really talented people there this year. It's a shame for Jorge. Anoop really should have been sent packing, sorry to say!

I like the top 11 and I have so many that I consider my favorites. I love Scott,Danny,Adam, and Michael. They are all so talented in their own way and I would love to see any of them win this competition. I am not sure that I like this new rule as it seems that it gives the judges better control over the outcome of the season. I think Lil Rounds would be one of the ones that they would save as they seem to really like her and so I don't see them letting her go home if she is voted off. However, I think that she tries to act like Fantasia too much and I don't like that.

I think the new rule is good sort of. It will save the person, but then the following week 2 people have to go. Most likely all it will get the person with the lowest votes one extra week, it could work out for them as it could just be because of bad song choices, but the competition is so stiff this year and there are so many good singers this year, it might be good to just let the peices fall where they may. I guess I am not really sure how the new rule will pan out. I do really like the top 11 this year. I think there are some amazing singers this year.

In regards to your question... Last week, I was almost 100% it was going to be Anoop and Jorge who were voted off. Anoop must have a huge fan base back in Chapel Hill (it is a music town, after all). I think the save is a good thing but I worry that they might not use it until the last week possible, and then save someone who doesn't deserve to be in the Top 5. Or worse, not use it at all. When Ryan introduced it he mentioned Tamyra Gray, Jennifer Hudson, Michael Johns and Chris Daughtry all might have been saved by this, had it been around when they were voted off but only Jennifer and Michael would have benefited, the other two were in the top 5 of their respective seasons. As for making the performers sing while the judges deliberated - they've always performed one final time after getting voted off. This wasn't any different other than there was one more step involved. My favorite is probably one of the girls. I have kind of laid out a top 5 in my head already, which includes Danny, Adam, Megan Joy, Alexis and Alison, and I really like all of them. All five of them are very much their own performer with a unique style, a unique voice and a lot of presence. Megan Joy sounds a lot like one of my very favorite female vocalists, Zooey Deschanel, so she gets a ton of brownie points for that. Alexis is too darling for words and Alison is freaking impressive for her age, not to mention she reminds me a little of Hayley Williams (mostly in her look, but a little in her voice) and I love Hayley Williams. Lil Rounds annoys the hell out of me. She reminds me a lot of Fantasia Barrino and I wanted to throw my television when, week after week after week the single mom with the forced, unnatural soprano voice kept not being voted off. AND THEN SHE WON!!!!! I really wanted to engage in random acts of violence at that point.

i hate the new rule America vote and that is it end of story. They even used a por example because they said the person could only saved up to 5. Daughtey was booted on final four. but does that even matter if you are good you do not need to win American idol, Kelli Picker, Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, are all successful. Winners like Taylor Hicks and Rubeun Studdard have had minor success. Thanks for bring up the topic. This rule is wrong for whatever reason the person does not get enough votes it is over, not everybody wins, not everyone get a trophy, and we are keeping score. This is not pre-school soccer this is American Idol

That's right! I feel much the same way. It does not seem fair to bring people back that America did not vote for. And you are also right in stating that it has been shown that people do not have to win Idol to do really well, so I say if they get voted off, BOO HOO! Go Home! That's the name of the game. There can only be one winner. Thanks for your comment!

I didn't see it last night but did dvr it. I did see that Jasmine and Jorge were sent home. I can see Jasmine not making it. Her voice wasn't at powerful as the others. I do think that Anoop was horrible this week and Jorge is was much better than Anoop. Even though I did like Anoop, he wasn't that great and had a bad song choice. I have to watch now to see the new changes and how it all played out.

I didn't like how Simon told Jorge.."NO" and nothing more...I think he deserved more than that. He made it to the top 13 for goodness sake....he acted like he was a lo count talent who walked in off the street to audition. I also do not like the favortism the judges show to certain people....like if a good person comes up they go on and on and on about their performance and then the person that follows if you know they arent on the favorite list of especially Simons...he tells well go ahead and try but you are screwed and you can't out do that performance...not exactly in those words but that is the meaning and that is not right. As far as the new rule...I think it is a good one because if they truely have talent like some of the past one that have went on to become famous then they should have opportunity to have another chance.

i haven't watched in years. i loved daughtry and he is doing well which i like. i think i stopped watching the year jordan sparks won. it just started going downhill to me. between watching paula drool over every guy and people who couldn't sing moving on, i promised myself i wasn't going to get hooked into it. i heard about kaynye performing. i am confused by that- he can't sing?!

I don't think the new save rule is fair. I think there are 3 girls and 3 guys who are really strong. The others will probably drop off and nobody will care, except for the people on that site vote for the worst. The rule doesn't seem fair. The ones who get voted off will either sink into obscurity, or they will make it big from someone seeing them perform on the show. If all the fans remember to vote for their favorites, there shouldn't be a problem. After all, the name is American Idol, not paula idol or simon idol or randy idol or kara idol. We get to choose!
